This place is fantastic! If you have not tried their food, you absolutely have to go. They look like your run-of-the-mill bar and grill, but their chef (Kyle) takes great pride in the food he prepares and is a phenomenally talented chef. He has an incredible background working in various kitchens around the Twin Cities and is proud to source as much local food as he can and make everything from scratch, except for the ketchup, because "you just dont mess with Heinz ketchup." My husband and I had the pleasure of hosting our rehearsal dinner at The Exchange the evening before our wedding. We met with Chef Kyle to go over menu options, and Kyle put together recommendations. We were amazed at the options he provided and we put together a 3-course meal that was served family style. Our party of 18 was BLOWN AWAY by the food (see menu attached). We received so many compliments and people were astonished by the uniqueness of the dishes. It was definitely a highlight of our wedding week. Additionally, Im vegetarian, and Kyle absolutely outdid himself putting together creative options that even the pickiest of meat eaters raved about (Mushroom and Tofu wontons and Avocado Egg Rolls were amongst the favorites!). Not only was the food beyond or expectations, but the service was fantastic. Rachel had a table of wine set up and offered guests a glass as they entered. She also ensured no ones glass went empty throughout the evening and was just a delightful addition to our party. Additionally the room The Exchange has available to host parties / get togethers is great. It is private and very spacious, with a big screen TV (we played our wedding slideshow), and a private bathroom, which is great, as guests dont have to use the one in the main restaurant. And Kyle and his team had name cards printed up and put them at table settings as per our request and even had printed menus up of the evenings selections and had them sitting at each plate so our guests could see all the details for all of the different menu items. And for all of this, the value was incredible. I think our guests probably assumed we paid 2-3 times the amount we paid, due to the amazing quality of the food paired with the impeccable service. The Exchange is a wonderful restaurant, and my husband and I are happy to continue to support this establishment for years to come.

I want to like this place I really do. Ive been three or four times over the past year and unfortunately the food is awful. They are trying to be hipsters and failing. Well executed simple American / comfort / bar food would do much better than terrible pizzas and charcuterie plates. The pizza was overly wet. Wings were meh. The charcuterie tasted off and was underwhelming. Last time I went and tried to order something safe like a bratwurst and there was a hair in my food! Macn cheese appetizer was under seasoned. Its just not good. The chef needs to be fired and quality control is non-existent now, needs to be added. Its like an episode of kitchen nightmares. Service also leaves something to be desired, not very attentive most of the times Ive been. The location is great and patio is really nice. I wish theyd up their game because I cant go back now its too gross. I would eat and do happy hour there weekly if it was good. :(

The manager is an absolute angel. Came in at 10pm on a Sunday night with a friend and, even as the last customers, she made us feel welcome and comfortable. My friend and I both look young and are always carded immediately but she let us look over the menu first. When we ordered and she asked for ID she did so very respectfully! We both ordered our first drinks and she made them with more alcohol than Im used to, so I was shocked but definitely not upset! It was an $8 drink and she said that, "Here, you get what you pay for," which couldnt be truer. I asked if I had time for a beer at 10:50 and she didnt bat an eyelid before assuring me that the time was irrelevant and I was more than welcome to order one. As we left she welcomed us back any time in such a sincere way I almost wanted to go back as soon as the next day! I can confidently say I will be back to the Exchange! I left her a good tip and have bo regrets!

The exchange has provided outstanding service every single time! The first time we came here was on a whim, we were hungry and desperate. It soon became a tradition to visit the exchange at least once weekly. They have new specials every week that are exceptional. You can tell when you bite into their food that everything they prepare was made from fresh Ingredients. Staff is very knowledgeable and helpful, not to mention friendly. I have celiac disease and I have always felt safe eating here. Being someone with celiac I often feel like I am the most annoying person ever with many questions and demands, but the staff here is very understanding and accommodating. Weve never received bad food or service. As I said earlier, everything is exceptional.

My last experience there today was well, terrible! Fries were way over cooked and my Steak Sandwich was still alive it was so under cooked! I had to send everything back to get it done again and the waitress made me feel like it was my fault for not knowing how steaks should be done. Seriously? When a steak is Purple in the middle, its not cooked even rare, and I asked for Medium! The waitress then took my drink and didnt replace it, how rude! I will never be back and Ive been going there every so often. Not even a discount on the bill, just terrible service and food! Beware of whats going on there now!

I had the Velveeta Cheeseburger with house made french fries and I have to say it met all my indulgent expectations (I added bacon as well)! It was almost impossible to stick to my pre-ordained plan as the weekly specials were extremely tempting, such as the Prime Rib Sandwich. As I always do I tried the house chardonnay and it was very pleasant! I plan to return to try some specials, as well as, some wings! Very warm staff, very unique interior lighting!

Horrible. I dont know why I even go back. The food is always way to salty. Yet every time you ask if the soup is salty the answer you get is its not salty at all. The turkey burger to salty the chicken on the salad to salty. The service is good but the food is mediocre at best and so is the selection of the beer on tap. I hope they change the chef or the owner finally gets the message and does something about the food.

Last time I wrote a bad bad review was 4 years back from ATL airport. Can tell I travel a lot and am patient and pardoning of little errors restaurants tend to make. 4th try here at Exchange place, only because of convenience. I am done with this place, after oily fries; a flammable warning label and a hair in my sandwich plate; all in the same meal. Disgusting!

Finally a place to go in New Brighton by home and a place that seems to have the right formula for this location. We always have good service and good food. The Umami Bomb pizza and veggie burger option is what brings us back. The ONLY reason this is not 5/5 stars is the price. A tad high for a small town. Otherwise, we are glad you are in operation!
