I am a frequent Buca customer, and have shared many birthday dinners with family and friends at this location, as well as brought several student groups. I have always had a great experience. However, I recently took a group of 14 high school students to Buca at 5:00 on a Monday evening. We had reservations, as did many other groups, and I assumed they would welcome this business on a day/time that is otherwise slow, and prepare accordingly. To my surprise, the staff was neither welcoming or prepared. I was excited to take advantage of their new "Macaroni Monday" promotion, which immediately caused our already mediocre server to give us attitude and inform us how small the portions were...she was so visibly upset that I dare take advantage of a promotion that she was literally shaking with anger. She marched into the kitchen and returned with the dish the macaroni comes in to show us just how small it was. Ok. On top of it, the manager also visited our table to discuss the promotion, and turns out they didnt even know how their own promotion worked, and then proceeded to act like they were doing us a favor to "ALLOW" us to use it. Had I not been with a group of students, I wouldve left and gone elsewhere, but thought it would be a great lesson on "hospitality management" for my marketing students. The rest of the experience went like this 1. Server finally brings our drinks and SLAMS them on the table, splashing my soda on the table 2. We give up on using the promotion and order several large dishes 3. Our food is served - it is good 4. We get our bill and pay (including the obligatory 18% $50 tip for such a wonderful experience) 5. We get our bill again, this time with more stuff added that she forgot the first time, and pay AGAIN. It was a huge disappointed to be treated with such disrespect and contempt simply because I was with a group of high school students, helping to boom Bucas Monday night business, as opposed with a group of adults. You should be ashamed Buca. I will not be returning.

dont bother:) This thing tasted like it was taken right from the freezer and then cooked in a microwave. i had what they call Chicken Parmesan- i think is what they called it. Served in what they called family style, which means they threw three of these things on plate, then served it to me, with nothing else.... kinda reminded me of the hot pockets i bought once at a gas station in the middle of the night, although i think the hot pockets may be better.... i did eat one, my fellow diners looked at the remaining ones, picked at it, laughed at it, --- no one ate the last one....we left it, blech, and went somewhere else for dinner..... Even their beer selection was lame----their beer selection includes nothing local or interesting, just the usual bud miller mdg lite, heinies etc...yawn...... Quite disappointing....cant think of any reason i would go back again...... If u want to experience italian cuisine in dt mpls., i think youd be better served by heating up a can of chef boyardee spagettios in the microwave, have a cold budweiser, and turn on good fellas on tv..... ciao:)

Reserved a table for 2 at 7:00, requesting "Something romantic (private).. It is our anniversary!". Arrived at 7, not seated until 7:20, even though the restaurant was not busy! When we were seated, it was in the middle of the room, with a view of the extra plates and linens, and in the middle of the aisle that the servers push through regularly. Table was also unstable. Not so romantic! We saw another couple come in 5 minutes after us and get a booth with ambient lighting in the corner. I guess they made a special reservation. Our bottle of wine took extra long because the "bartender was backed up" (strange, I could see her from the table). The waitress also brought us our ticket without the coupon applied, then had her manager fix it, and I had to remind them to return my debit card. Kind of lame for a 70$ ticket!

The food was underseasoned, and the service was as bad as Ive ever experienced. Restaurant was pretty empty, and we had a reservation, but were not seated until 20 minutes after our reservation time. Waitress did not show up at our table until 10 minutes after we sat down, first course did not come out until 45 minutes after we were seated, even though we ordered right away. Drinks did not come out until 30 minutes after seating. Asked for straws 3 times, only to receive them toward the end of our meal. Food did not come out together. One plate was brough out, then the other 5-7 minutes later, and the last one only came out 10-15 minutes after the first, and after we reminded our waitress about it. Not sure if they were understaffed, incompetent, or prejudiced against our group. Completely unacceptable.

Had a special dinner planned for out of town guests on valentines day. We ordered a take out order from Bucas online 24 hours in advance. I waited in car for 50 minutes as the order was not ready onetime. Some items had sat cooling in the takeout bag by the register for 20 minutes while other items were not ready. The worst part was that the manager Anthony showed no empathy and acted like this level of service should be expected/tolerated on a holiday. Got home to hungry guests only to discover one of the entries was not put in the bag. Called the manager back and he said he would credit our card for the missing entries. Checked credit card 5 days later and no credit had been applied by the Bucas manager Anthony.

The food does not match the ambiance. Very pricey and average taste. You can make better pastas at home. Portion size is huge and the only justification for the price. Desserts are ginormous but the ice cream had bad texture, brownies very hard. Appetizers were bad. Bruschetta was a piece of too hard bread and chunks of tomato - again huge portion size but I wouldnt pay that much again to eat hardly cooked tomatoes. Overall not worth the price. Staff was extremely lively and friendly. The restaurant is huge and well decorated. I would not visit again or recommend. Loring Pasta Bar in Dinkytown is much better for Italian.

We three people went there this Sunday for dinner with a reservation. We were seated immediately on the second floor. The restaurant looked nice with good decoration, but tables were a little bit too close to each other. There were some complimentary olive and nuts on the table, they brought water to our table right away. After ordering, they also give you some free bread and butter. The octopus and clams were tender and tasted really good. The duck liver meatball pasta was good, half of the dish was enough for one person.

Im getting married in dt Minneapolis next July and needed a place to have rehearsal dinner for 35 people. I cannot say enough about this place. We went and did the tasting and instantly fell in love. Great atmosphere, staff, and of course food!! And Nicole Broberg is AMAZING! She has went above and beyond for us and were still like 8 months out. She even called me when she had extra wedding convention tickets. Class act!! They have my business for life
