It was my husbands birthday yesterday and I was checking in tripadvisor for some nice restaurants in DSM which we havent tried. Luigi had a good rating so, i made dinner reservations. I have to admit that when we reached i seriously thought it was a BIG mistake because the exterior of the restaurant isnt too nice. Anyway, still though we will give it a try and I am so glad we did. We just loved it...the food as mentioned by a lot of people is simply amazing. I would highly recommend it and the hostess was just as wonderful.

Very friendly little neighborhood restaurant. I took my family here for dinner on a Wednesday evening. This casual Italian eatery is very special indeed! The fresh baked rolls where brought to our table and were still warm. The kids had Cheese Ravioli and my wife and I had the baked pasta combo. No disappointments from us! We enjoyed the whole night! We will be visiting Luigis often and it will become one of those places we take our out of town folks. Truly a Southside Treasure!

The food is delicious and the service was top-notch. Big KUDOS to my server, Sarah. I was in Des Moines for business and craving some good homemade Italian food. My preference is always a Mom N Pop place over a chain restaurant. This place was highly rated on Google and I decided to give it a try. So glad I did! It is a true "hidden gem" in that it is a small unassuming building in a sketchy neighborhood. I assure you it is worth the drive!

Saturday night and we had a party of twelve, including three children. We were seated within 10 minutes and drink orders taken quickly. Plenty of bread to share while food order was taken. No childs menu but leftovers are ok. Lots of food, and wonderful flavor. Servers were quick to refill drinks, too wonderful experience.

This place is Des Moines hidden gem! Amazing service, the best homemade rolls you will ever taste and no matter what you order, you will never be disappointed! You feel like you are at your mom and dads house for dinner! The staff makes you feel so warm and welcome and I have yet to decide my go to dish! Simply amazing!!

The absolute best lasagna Ive had in Des Moines. Luigis is DEFINITELY worth the trip -- be warned though, they do not sell alcohol. Ive heard that you can BYOB and that they dont even charge a corking fee (cannot confirm this, though). Super fair prices, especially considering the quality of the food you get!

Had the seafood combo with lemon sauce and creme brulee for dessert. It was delicious and the shrimp and mussles were cooked to tender perfection. The creme brulee was also amazing, rich creaminess with a sweet layer on top. For the high quality of food and service, the prices were very affordable.

What a great place! When you see the outside you think hmm what am I getting into? But once you go inside its like a fine restaurant. Great decor, great staff, such friendly people made is feel right at home. Food was Excellenct. Service wonderful. I am recommending this place to everyone.

Food was great. Way more than i expected. Looks a little divey when you pull up... inside is nothing like you would think. Service was great, friendly and the food came out quick, hot and fresh. If i lived in this state i would go more often for sure. Food was DELICIOUS!!!

Very friendly people working here. They forgot my salad, but when we mentioned it to her, she insisted I take my salad home and that itd be free. I told her it was alright because I was already full, but she was so nice, she made it hard to argue. We will definitely go again.

This is a family owned restaurant sort of tucked away on Southeast 14th. It is authentic Italian food and some of the best Italian food I ever had! Their cannolis are to die for! The owner will come out and greet and and all the staff and family is so welcoming and kind.

Only been twice but received horrible service and food was not even close in comparison to other nearby restaurants. One more thing, theyre in the 2017 Entertainment Book but said they cancelled membership before cutoff. They will not accept coupons.

Good food, eggplant Parmesan is wonderful, their rolls are heavenly. Great staff. Only three stars because the parking is awful! A teensy little lot. I feel they would have better business in a better location. But go for those rolls, seriously.

This is some of the best Italian Ive had in Des Moines. The staff is super friendly and the chef is often times out in the open and remembers everyone who comes. The food is delicious and extremely reasonably priced! Highly recommended.
