Um... three words son... DOPE AS HELL!!!!! Stopped in on a Saturday night and wasnt nobody there!! Totally empty! Kinda tacky lil diner, bigger than Mickeys tho, apparently 70 year old national landmark cant even draw anybody on a saturday night wtf! Only two people workin in the entire place, the friendly server and the chill cook guy. Service was great and they had jelly and peanut butter out on the table which I was just chowin on. Friends got burgers but yo.... I got maybe the sickest omelette Ive ever had. This omelette bossed me around it was so rude. And I mean it kicked ass. It was called the BRO Omelette or something because it has "bro" sauce on it, whatever. Also they use these lil words they made up and the menu is cute like that anyway. This freaking FAT omelette had all sorts of things in it like sloppy joe meat and cheese also it was square. God it rocked me. Also was over the moon about the receipts that just have a little phrase saying "See Ya" at the bottom. Both letters capitalized no punctuation. I just about did a cartwheel across the dang diner I was so giddy about how cute that was. What a quaint lil midwest place with food that like.. Im gonna have to make up a phrase right now to describe how good the food was man frankly it was BOMB-ASS DIGGITY. Rating: Go here immediately.

Hungover on a thursday morning, new to downtown, thought Id fill an empty stomach with some greasy neighborhood grub. Band Box Diner is on a neat little corner in Elliot Park with all the traditional diner features; tiny, one cook/one server, back to the fifties decor, cast of luddite regulars chatting about 90s video games more than theyre eating, and all the smells that rush an alcohol fueled metabolism into a MSG fantasy. I ordered a burger with fries and a cup of coffee. The joe came first and I can honestly say Ive had better coffee in medical waiting rooms. It had been open for hardly a half hour and they poured the coffee stale. The burger wasnt bad but nothing to write home about; a bit on the crispy side and the mayo was served in a separate plastic cup (come on!) The fries were thin and lacked crunch and texture, and half of them were in my burger. The Band Box is definitely a place to go when youre hungry and low on options, but 15.00 bucks is a bit excessive for the average/poor quality of food, even for a diner. When they get on top of their coffee situation Ill be back to try a sober breakfast.

Absolutely the best kind of diner. The close, small-town feel is very prevalent and even the menu is full of friendly Minnesotan informality. Usually clean tables and floors, and despite the large open grill the temperature has been comfortable for me. The price is fine. Sure, it might be about $0.90 more per plate than some other restaurants, but by no means unreasonable. I highly recommend this diner as a lunch or late breakfast option if you just need a comfortable morning spot. The experience itself is unique and cheerful. If you come in on a Thursday, expect to see my girlfriend and I sharing a couple plates stacked high with pancakes. If there is one thing the Band Box does well, its their home-grown cakes.

Its a fantastic little place in the fitting area of Minneapoliss Bermuda Triangle, as no one seems to really know what the Bandbox is. To put it simply, its a restaurant that has survived the test of time without losing any of its old school charms. The seating and decor are right out of the golden era of diners, and the food is even better. The Dude Ranch is a personal favorite, but all the burgers and breakfast food is fantastic. The price is completely affordable as well. So whether youre looking for an easy lunch or a fun date night, Id recommend the Bandbox through and through for its classical atmosphere and food.

Came into town last week with my husband for a friends wedding and drove past Band Box, after realizing the rave reviews online I had to give them a try. It was the afternoon today, the food was very reasonably priced and it was delicious! We had ordered a mushroom and Swiss with fries on the side, for only about $10. Juicy okay service the downside was the location with so many smokers and the outside seating area I wasnt too found of it. But if I have a craving I know where to go for burgers again.

The first time I went here I loved the food sooooooooo much. Almost as much as I hated the several inch long beard hair that I found inside the onion ring on my burger the second time I ate this food. I saw the chef with the beard when I walked in and immediately wondered if it ever falls in the food. I was sad to pull a piece of said beard out of my mouth later on. If I go back, Im gonna just eat with my eyes closed. Blissful ignorance

I have been going to the Band Box Diner off and on for about a decade now. The reasons that I keep going back are numerous, but the top ones are the great food and the great conversations. There is something about seeing your food cook in front of you that add to the atmosphere of the place. From omelettes to burgers, the quality is great. The pancakes are big and the coffee is hot! What more can you ask?

A great little diner with a great classic diner atmosphere. You dont see many of these any more. It is truly a "greasy spoon" of a restaurant, and they take a funny sort of pride in it. A had a very good burger and pile of super-thinly sliced homemade fries. Update: upped to five stars after taking the wife and kids here. Everybody loved it. Pancakes were bigger than the plate!

The Band Box Diner should be a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. The atmosphere is straight out of a Tom Waits song, except the the food isnt greasy. Its high quality, locally produced!!!!! Its rarely crowded, as it has ZERO parking. Plan on parking blocks away and hiking in; you need the exercise. I live in Wyoming, but when visiting Mpls. family I always stop by.

Great diner breakfast! Leave your diet at the door, but enjoy the tastes of this greasy spoon restaurant. Service is timely, smart, and entertaining. It was a little hard to find from downtown, but it was well worth the trip. We liked it so much, we came back a second time. They take credit cards.

the food was really good cant take that away from em but the thing that got me was the super sized flies flying around I had to guard my food so one wouldnt land on my food and then had the nerves to hit us with a 45 dollar bill like we was at famous daves or somewhere first and last time eating here

I just found this place, did a lap around the block, found a place to park right outside. The server was great, she recommended the Lunch Box. It was an amazing burger with coleslaw on the burger. The fresh made slaw Is so good I ordered more on the side. I will be back many more times.

I have been going to the Band Box for more than a decade, and have yet to have a bad meal there. Brad, the owner/chef, is a wonderful human being who has made a life-long commitment to people, food and music. It shows. My favorite meal there is still a burger and fries with a Coke.
