If you love paying a lot of money for crap, then welcome to the View! For everyone, else both the service and food was complete garbage. This is a restaurant that spends their money on their absurdly large overhead, and the food and service suffers for it. In our unfortunate experience we were a party of 6 eating breakfast. Upon entering we were greeted by 3 hostesses, all of which glanced back and forth at each other, desperately trying to avoid interrupting their texting and chatting session, hoping the other would seat us so they wouldnt have to actually work. Once seated it was, and Im not kidding here, 30 minutes before we were assigned a waitress. You see, apparently three people had called out sick that day. Something I thought was rather odd considering I saw no less than 9 waitresses and a good many other employees for a restaurant that couldnt have had over 13 active tables. So after being juggled around for a bit between waitstaff to waitstaff, and having to place our drink orders twice, someone finally took our food orders. The food was another 30 minute wait. Something I totally understand, what with breakfast being an incredibly complicated meal and all. Our drinks ran out, not surprising of course - we had already resigned ourselves to the fact that the service here was HORRIBLE. Well, once we got our food (twice, mind you. Half the meals came out and then after 8 minutes the other half came out...) we were whole heartedly disappointed at what was set before us. You see, after seeing the menu, and noticing that the prices were substantially more expensive than other restaurants breakfast prices we expected the food to also be above-average caliber. What we got was very pretty and well plated pig swill. For example, I got a spinach eggs benedict. And what they did was just slop microwaved spinach on both sides of the plate, juice and all, until it pooled so badly under the english muffin it made it soggy. (To be fair, I should also note that the english muffin was untoasted, which added to soggy problem along with the This-Food-Is-Crap problem.) My egg was undercooked which added some more much needed liquid all over the plate, and the hollandaise sauce was so thin it was barely noticeably and hardly taste-able. Oh, and my friends pancakes were made with milk that had gone sour. Did I mention that? Not buttermilk pancakes -- normal pancakes with spoiled milk. As you can imagine, it took us forever to get the check and took them forever to charge the cards so we couldnt even leave that horrible place without adding in some additional wait time. Of the 6 of us, NO ONE enjoyed their meal. And for a party of 6 people who truly love to go out and eat thats saying something. Suffice to say we had a horrible experience and will never go back, and I dont suggest anyone else going their either. There are plenty of restaurants with good food, good service, and a nice atmosphere in Charlotte. Theres no reason to lower your standards to the "Big View."

I went to Big View on a friend who I very much trust for foods recommendation. Something must have gotten lost in translation (perhaps because he is used to higher class dining as a whole) because this place was an enormous disappointment. To be clear all of these 2 stars reflect the excellent service I experienced. Even great servers cant save garbage breakfast food. When I rolled up at 745 I saw the Sysco truck unloading its wares. This isnt always a bad thing by any means but it gives you a clue as to whats going on in the kitchen. I got a basic breakfast. Ill run it down item by item. Sausage: the same generic, kind of dry pucks you get at Hardees. Clearly pulled from under a heat lamp. Home fries: not to my taste at all. A huge taste of vinegar or something. Huge chunks of undercooked bell pepper spread throughout. Bacon: paper thin. This is personal preference but I personally like thick cut Eggs: scrambled effectively. Nothing wrong here. Biscuit: this was by far the worst part of the meal. No excuse for frozen biscuits like this. Dry on the inside, crispy on the edges, completely flavorless. I even asked my server if they were good since I was suspicious. Cant expect her to talk smack about a menu item I guess but for Christ sake just take this abomination off the menu. Theres nothing wrong with just offering toast. Price wise my buddy has said "Its so cheap!" But his experience is skewed here as well. I got out for $10 flat, $12 after tip which is par for the course. Not good, not bad. Wish I could say the same about that horrible biscuit.

BigView diner used to be my favorite restaurant for the past few years since I moved to Charlotte. The quality of food and service used to be great. I have been hoping things will get better with this place but it just gets worse every time I go there. Last night was my last attempt and it was the deciding factor that I will no longer go there and that I will steer away my friends and family from going there as well. The chicken noodle soup has become tasteless. Oh by the way, I received my cup of soup without a spoon. I ordered a steak with blue cheese crust (again tasteless and had to ask for A1 sauce in attempt to fix flavor). The steak came without steak knife as well!!!! I asked for bread multiple times and I received it right before I received my check! None of my family enjoyed their orders both were brisket and brisket with pasta. I felt that I threw $90 down the drain last night. This occurred last night. Few months back, the food was not as bad despite the fact that the rice was old and felt like rocks and the potatoes were burnt. When I brought it to management attention they took two dollars off my $16 meal of which half of it was ruined! The lettuce in salad is usually old and changed colors already! Each time I go, I have had to wait to eat once to get the meal, and once again to get my meal fixed!! My advice dont go there and if you have to go, then dont go when you are very hungry! The desserts on the other hand are mostly good, but that can be ordered to go!

As a fan of stroganoff dishes, I ordered the brisket stroganoff on my visit on Tuesday, 1/24/17. The dish came out with beautiful presentation, but unlike the customary stroganoff dish, this recipe contains a cheese of some sort. Being cheese-averse (not liking the smell or taste of cheese rather than being lactose intolerant), I ate no more than two bites as I couldnt tolerate the taste and I had the dish boxed up for my son at home who has no similar cheese aversion. I fault neither the wait staff nor the kitchen for this, but I certainly do fault those who prepared this restaurants menu. The menu contains a description of the ingredients used in their dishes, and no cheese is identified in the description of the brisket stroganoff. Had I known, I would have made another selection. In the interest of their customers with lactose intolerance or an aversion to the smell/taste of cheese, cheese in menu items ought be clearly identified.
