Rice Paper is a Vietnamese/Thai-style restaurant tucked into the Northwest corner of 50th and France, behind DAmico & Sons. Having recently moved to this location, the atmosphere is very fresh, clean, and modern. Seating is somewhat limited, with about 20 tables inside and 5 outside. From the ambiance, to the staff, to the menus, to the food presentation, this independently-owned restaurant has a very polished and professional vibe. Unfortunately, the preparation of the food doesnt measure up to the level that one would expect based on first impressions of the restaurant. My first visit, I tried the Mekong Encounter, which is a red curry dish. The presentation was quite impressive and artistic--definitely nothing like what I imagined it might look like. My second immediate impression was how little food was on the plate for an $18 dish; maybe 6 ounces including rice! It tasted fine until I chomped into the asparagus stalks that had been neatly crossed atop the dish like chopsticks--they were like wood--definitely an unfortunate surprise. After having dismissed this blunder and with an interest in trying other dishes, I made a second visit a few weeks later, this time trying the Lunar Clay Pot. Being a sucker for Vietnamese clay pot dishes, I figured this couldnt disappoint. Both my guest and I ordered the same. They were both horribly over-salted, almost to the point of being unpalatable. On both occasions, we had the fresh spring rolls, to which I had seen other reviewers rave (and the menu taunts "limited availability"). They are good, but no different than can be found at just about any other decent restaurant with at least some Asian flare. If you have the right, fresh ingredients, it is hard to screw up spring rolls. I probably wont be making another visit. I recommend Tum Rup Thai in Uptown as an excellent alternative.

This is truly a gem for Minneapolis, and the new location in Edina is better than Linden Hills. There is lots of parking and more tables in the restaurant. The decor is lovely with natural light, and the ambience is great for casual walk-in or elegant date night! Kids are welcome too. (The wikki stix are a winner!) The real elegance is the food. The ingredients are fresh and the flavors inspire the palette without overwhelming. The appetizers can make a meal (the best spring rolls ever and great tofu too), the soup is a fabulous broth (and great health tonic), and the entrees are roadside, vegan, meat, rice and noddles, something for everyone to enjoy the exquisitely prepared flavors of this authentic Asian influence. We are lucky to have this restaurant!! We are especially lucky to have a go-to anytime spot in south Minneapolis. And did I mention the fabulous iced Vietnamese coffee - it comes decaf!

Recently relocated to the area and had a craving for Thai. Service was nice. Theres a giant parking garage next door so parking was a non-issue. For dinner we split a traditional Thai salad for an appetizer (I would recommend asking for the peanut dressing on the side - they were a little heavy handed) and for dinner we had the red coconut curry with chicken and beef drunken noodles. Everything was delicious and cooked perfect. Spice levels were great too. I think someone who loves to feel the burn might need to ask for "Thai spicy" but for me the medium was tingly enough. Definitely recommend.

I have been a fan of Rice Paper for years. But recently, our last couple visits were so unpleasant that I really have no desire to go back. The food, while now more expensive, was not nearly what it used to be. This could have been overlooked, were it not for the fact that we were saddled with an unbelievably rude waitress with questionable hygiene. I couldnt believe how disappointed I was- I really used to love my regular visits to this little gem. Im sorry to say that there are far better spots at which to treat yourself to a meal.

Food was good. However, I was surprised they cheated on the drinks. I had a reservation on 12/26/16 around closing time. I ordered a bottle of wine for our table of 4 and got it as requested. However, once the first serving for 4 half emptied the bottle (they served abt a quarter in the glass they provided) they took it back and when I asked told me the bottle was empty. I was surprised. What shocked me the most is that at closing I see one employee walk out with the same open bottle even without the cap on. Utter disgrace.

Just as good as the old spot. Still cozy, still yummy. Rice Paper will continue to be one of our go-to places. He had his favorite Roadside smoky plate ~ good as always. She had a new dish Soupe Tonkinoise with Tofu ~ perfect! A new favorite. Wish this place was closer to the NE, but worth the drive for good, simple, healthy Asian food. We left feeling satisfied and not greased-out. Service was attentive and good, but not intrusive. Lastly, love that they kept the mural.

I had the worst food experience I can recall in recent history. Rice Papers food was overpriced and the flavors were bland. Drive just 15 minutes to Nicollet Avenue if you want great Asian food (fushion or ethnic specific) at reasonable prices. Because the food was so flavorless, I asked for hot pepper - little did I know they would charge for it. I was shocked when my bill came. Awful experience and will not be going back or recommending this place to anyone else I know.

I was a customer there today and an uber driver came to pick up an order. After waiting for the order 20 minutes he asked to speak with the manager. The manager came out very aggressively and was rude to the driver yelling at him and interrupting him without trying to hear anything he had to say. I have never seen a manager handle a situation with this lack of professionalism if I were that driver I would have been way less kind than he was.

We have been going to Rice Paper since it was at its old location. The food is excellent. There are almost entirely Gluten Free, and almost every dish can be vegetarian. I feel that the price of the food is fair for the quality of the food. This is a family owned restaurant that has a great atmosphere, and provides a awesome dining experience.

We were from out of town and decided to go to Rice Paper since it was highly rated. Boy, were we disappointed! The portion was extremely small for what we paid for. We spend $130 for 8 of us for lunch. We had 4 little kids and were hungry afterwards. The food was not bad but after awhile all the food taste the same.

Exceptional flavor and choices of meals. The Squash Curry was expertly made with just the right amount of spice. The Laab salad had a wonderful flavor with a slight bite of hot. Sitting outside in the cool night air made this dinner the perfect place for a refreshing meal.

My only complaints are that, they used to have trouble answering their phones, which seems to have been remedied, and that they are too far away from my house. I love this place. The food is amazing. I drive 20 minute each way to get take out. Eat here!

Had an excellent selection of Vietnamese, Thai and Chinese dishes. I had the Chatty Noodles Bowl with chicken and the chicken Spring Rolls. Both were light, refreshing and flavorful. It was totally worth the extra couple bucks.
