They have good food. But we noticed recently that they switched from the white paper to go boxes to the foam carry out boxes and you get far less food for more money. And how do I know this my daughter ordered chicken fried rice in the white box and i order same thing but in foam container, which is what they give you if dont specify which container.The difference was crazy, actually it kinda pissed me off to be honest. We have been patrons of theirs probably since they opened. I wish I would have taken a picture of the difference. I mean I understand inflation, this is more like cliff road robbery. Any ways it makes me sad that they would do that.....I guess that is what you get for being loyal customers. LeAnn Chin is closer, about the same price and if you are a loyal customer they treat you right! And from time to time you get a BOGO. Sorry Golden Star!!

I read the positive review about the sesame chicken and was excited to try since that is my favorite dish. To me it was like eating a fried doughnut with a piece of the wrong parts of the chicken inside. I dont think I saw any white meat before I threw it out. I also got the chicken chow mein and threw that out as well because it just tasted off and looked like cat food. I have been called a picky eater, so if you can eat anything like the person I ordered with you might think its worth a try. (He said he wouldnt go back either by the way, he didnt throw his away but also didnt keep the left overs). Maybe we got the wrong things, but Ill never go back to try anything else...

My husband and I ordered take out from Golden Star tonight; we ordered the Sesame Chicken combo, the Sweet & Sour Chicken combo, and an order of vegetable lo mein. The only good thing about our order was the Sesame Chicken; sweet and crispy like it should be. The fried rice in the combo plates was bland, and it was burnt so it gave off a very bitter taste. The egg rolls tasted like feet, and the sweet and sour sauce tasted old. The vegetable lo mein also had a burnt bitter taste, and the vegetables didnt taste fresh. The fortune cookies were also stale. We arent picky people or world class foodies, but for $27 you should expect fresh food. Overall, I dont think we will return.

I was really excited to try the food here because of all the positive reviews but holy moly it was disgusting! We ordered cream cheese wantons and they were way to overcooked and the cream cheese was chuncky. The worst part was by far the awful after taste. Its really a combination of what has been said about bad oil to cook with, feet and fuel. The Seasame chicken was what I was excited about but the chicken tasted really gamey and again with the bad oil to fry in. The chicken fried rice was not good because of the chicken and it the rice tasted smokey. I want to have something positive to say but I truly think that this is the absolute worst Chinese food I have ever eaten!

I probably eat too much Chinese food. Ive been to Chinese spots all over the cities. Ive had great Chinese food many times. I can say with confidence, Golden Star has the best fricken Chinese food of any place around hands down. Their fried rice is incredible. Their egg rolls are hand made and rolled and turn out crispy and always delicious. (The fool who said they taste like feet has issues) Ive had many of their dishes and I have never been disappointed. I am only more, and more impressed with every new entree I try. If you want a recommendation try their beef chow fun, but honestly everything is the bomb. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!

Best chinese take-out in Eagan. My favorite is the sesame chicken or their orange chicken. Its the only place around that does it right: Big chunks of all white meat chicken that is battered then deep fried till golden and CRISPY, then tossed in a sweet and tangy sauce. I always get the special combo which includes fluffy fried rice and a good eggroll. All that for about $7. Make sure you can bring it home quickly before the batter losses its crispy texture. Other notible dishes: chow fun, beef w/broccoli, pork fried rice.

Everyone needs a local takeout place and if youre nearby, this is the one. The Szechuan delight is great for vegetarians or anyone looking to eat meatless. The fried rice dishes are comforting and familiar as is the lo mein. While the Pad Thai not end up on your best ever list, its certainly no slouch. Orders are ready in about ten minutes most nights so its a great "oh no we have nothing in the refrigerator and the family needs to eat now" option.

We used Golden Star to cater our company Holiday luncheon. The owners helped determine the quantity of food for our group of 30 and started their day early in order to have our food ready for the time we requested! The food was excellent and the portions were larger than expected - all at a price that will definitely have us doing this again! Great Job!!!!

My family is all for contributing to small businesses so we were excited to try this place... however we were disappointed we couldnt even finish our dinner everything tasted burnt... sesame chicken, orange chicken and wontons.seems like he should stop reusing the deep fry oil...........the chicken canton was good.

The service is good and the staff is friendly. The food is OK. The fried rice is a little bland, the egg foo young taste is kind of weird, and the wontons cream cheese was a little off as well. The orange chicken was really good though.
