One of the most exciting things in the world is to travel. Personally living in China I was able to experience some of the most exotic and tasteful food in the world. The most disappointing part of travel is returning to the United States where some of these food either dont exist, or they do, but are poorly made. After trying over 20 restaurants in the Minneapolis - Saint Paul area, I randomly came across this one. Its the closest thing to China you are going to get. For those that like the American Chinese food, (Hong Kong Style) you can find that here as well. The portions are greatly sized. You wont leave hungry. The staff are extremely friendly. This is truly a 5 star for service. Most of all the prices are extremely reasonable. I would suggest anyone that is interested in Chinese food, try it here. They are able to make things that are not even in the menu - as long as you know what you are looking for. I love it at this restaurant and 30 minute drive, is well worth it!

Excellent restaurant! Very pleasant ownership and recently renovated and expanded dining room! You cant help but leave this place feeling like youve discovered a hidden jewel. Hands down, this is the best value for the money when compared to any other Chinese restaurant in the North Metro. Lunch specials run around $6, yet the food is fresh and flavorful, the portions are extremely generous and the service is fast! This will easily turn into a second lunch the following day. If youre doing the math, thats two very satisfying lunches for $3 each. So next time you feel like a McDonalds meal deal for about the same price, come here instead. Enjoy the food and the service and the fact that it will feed you for another day as well! I personally recommend the Kung Pao ordered "five star spicy"

The China Restaurant is a fantastic little restaurant. The staff is warm and likable, and the atmosphere is fun, friendly and intimate. The portions here are incredibly generous. One dinner is easily enough to make two meals of. To put this in perspective, some of the dinners go for as low as five dollars. The lunch specials are even cheaper, and include massive helpings of egg fu yung, egg rolls and/or won-ton alongside the main course. The value alone would be enough to make this a five-star dining experience for this cash-strapped hungry man, but the food is also quite good. I particularly enjoy the sesame chicken, though everything I have tried has exceeded expectations. All in all, this is my favorite little hole-in-the-wall family restaurant, and I hope that you agree.

the food here was amazingly good. Finally a place that serves real lo mein the way its suppose to be. the sesame chicken which was awesome, it had a tiny bit of crunch to the outside of the chicken the egg rolls were excellent. They werent just filled with cabbage like other places do, these had some meat in them with the cabbage i believe. Very reasonably priced and it will not dent your wallet. I havent had food like this since i was a kid. Fantastic food. Update. 5/30/2016: been eating here since the last review. This place is very consistant with their food. Im now hooked on their steamed pork dumplings. They are delicious.

The best Chinese American food that I have EVER had (and I have had alot!). The pork fried rice is a thing of beauty. The pork is tender an slightly sweet. The General Tsos chicken is a perfect dish with a delicate spice that dances on my tongue. The fried pot stickers are hand made with fresh ginger which makes all the difference in the world, it makes the pork flavor pop and pairs well with the dumpling sauce. I eat here at least once month and have NEVER had anything that is close to mediocre. Every dish is well made and tastes wonderful. The owners are wonderful people and are always polite. Large portions and low cost. Enjoy.

We were first-time visitors last night. What a wonderful surprise. Each of us had a different soup -- Hot & Sour, Wonton, Egg Drop -- all were served in good-sized bowls, piping hot and delicious (fresh ingredients, tasting homemade). We ordered the Chicken in Garlic Sauce, and the dinner combos of General Tsaos Chicken and Hunan Chicken. I asked for the Hunan Chicken to be stir-fried, not deep-fried, and they gladly delivered. The food was terrific, the service friendly and prompt, the owner a delight, and the price very reasonable ($40 for everything). We will definitely be regulars.

Perfect classic hole in the wall Chinese. Cheap. Amazing fried rice, best cream cheese puffs I have ever had. Full (big) lunch specials for about 5 bucks. Good spicy Szechuan dishes as well. Been eating here for years, I live only a few hundred feet from this place so I love it to death. I give it a 3 out of 3 on decor because this place looks exactly as it feels like it should. A 3 on service as they always seem willing to change their dishes to my preference. And a 3 on food due to how darn tasty it is. P.S. if you are in the mood for something special try a Szechuan Hot Pot.

Ive been eating at this place for the past 4 years and I love the food they serve there. They are always so friendly, welcoming, and happy to serve. The owner has even started to recognized me and my friends and has remember all of our favorite orders. C5 all the way! :-) The best part about this restaurant is their lunch specials. Their prices are super affordable and their portions are so big I usually have lunch leftovers for the next two days. I am very impressed with this place and will continue to be a regular customer for a long time!

This is hands down the best Chinese food Ive had in the twin city metro area. As other reviews have mentioned it is a family owned place and has a welcoming environment. Everything I have tasted there has been delicious! Our favorite is their pork fried rice. All their meat is very high quality, not the MSG filled junk you get at a lot of other Chinese food places. GO TASTE IT YOURSELF, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!! They closed for remodeling, but as of Jan 12, 2013 they have reopened

By far the best Ive had in awhile. I travel for a living and have eaten at different Chinese restaurants around the U.S. The freshness, taste and quality of the food is excellent. Very clean dining room and very friendly staff. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for the best tasting Chinese Food in the Midwest. As far as my personal rankings of all of them that Ive been to in the U.S. its in my top 5, probably my new number 1.

China Restaurant is easily our favorite Chinese place in the Cities. Really tasty Chinese that varies from the classics like sesame chicken, to salt & pepper shrimp, and these unique "hot pots." HUGE portions which is especially great because it is so affordable. Yang and Sing (Seng?) own this place and treat all of their guests SO well. I hope they can expand one day because they work so hard and have a great restaurant!

Have been going to this place for over ten years and their food is amazing. Would always get sweet & sour chicken and couldnt get away from ordering that. I finally reached out of my comfort zone and now idk what my favorite is. General tsos, sesame, the list goes on. The staff is incredible as well! If you are looking for a place to eat around the area, please give it a try. You will not be disappointed.
