This is mine and my husbands favorite sushi place. Have been eating here for years. The amount of quality food for the price is amazing. The chef has always been wonderful. When we have asked for a few changes and the request have been lost in translation and they have made it right, no questions. The only thing that is less than desirable is the service. It has really went down hill. When we first started coming here we always had great service. But now it pains me to say we havent tipped the last several times we have been there. They have great food but you might get thirsty and if you order anything spicy if your like me you need a full glass dont hold your breath. Please hire better waiters.

The food is better than 4 stars, but the service has never been great. You always get your order taken and get your food eventually but its pretty rough. You get there, get your drinks, order, then youre supposed to get complimentory soup and salad, then appitizer if you order one (crab poppers are amazing), then your sushi. The only reason why its not 5 stars is because of the service and also the fact that they put 2 peoples sushi on one plate and you have to share the plate. But the food is worth it OMG wonderful! You can watch them make your sushi across the room too.

Let me start by saying, the good here is incredible! The service is generally pretty good, too, but the food is the star of the show. The reason this isnt a 5 star review is due to cleanliness. The floors are sticky...the tables are sticky, the carpets are sticky and the bathrooms are the stickiest. There are menu items that range up to $100 here...this issue with contact surfaces being sticky in a higher end establishment should not be an issue. Period. Umi, I love your food, but if you cant get this fixed I wont be sticking around!

The waiter here that served us stole my grandmothers cell phone! She left it on the table when we left but whenever we got to the car she realized she had forgotten it and we went back in and askes and the waiter said "people always think they have lost their cell phones here and normally they just left it in the car or their purse" then a few weeks later my grandparents got a call from a guy saying he thinks he has their stolen phone and that he bought it from a guy that works at umi!!!

My experience was initially not impressive. But the sushi was very tasty. I left my Oakley sunglasses on the table and they were left. The waiter actually found them and left them for the manager, but they were misplaced again in the process. After speaking with the manager, named "Song", she agreed to replace something expensive, on a personal level. It means a lot to me that she went through so much trouble, and it has made a very happy, long term customer.

Good sushi and service. But when we went, there were no servers. There was one host that seated each guest to a table then did a mad dash sprint to serve the entire restaurant. The guy was completely by himself and he was a freakin CHAMPION. As far as I could tell he was serving everyone in the restaurant as fast as a team of servers could. He was super nice and deserves a raise. But management should have never let that happen to an employee.

Tonight my boyfriend and I went to this restaurant. Our friends/coworkers told us that it was good. Boy it was awful from the server who didnt pay no attention at all to the food tasted bland. The dressing on the salad was too sweet and the food was mushy when we took a bite. Overall the experience was terrible, please go to a different Japanese restaurant that actually tastes good and the waiters who actually cares about the customers.

Had the chicken teriyaki bento lunch box. chicken was burnt, vegis were raw. Miso soup was salty and salad was basically thousand island dressing. Tried three different sushi rolls; da roll thechad that old refrigerator taste to it, the geisha roll was okay but way to much tempura flackes, Springfield roll was falling apart when you tried to pick it up. The steamed rice in the bento box was better then the sushi rice.

My fiance and I absolutely LOVE umi. He refused to eat sushi anywhere else and their hibachi chicken dinner is to die for! We always go here for date night and the staff is awesome. Song, the main server, even remembers our order and says "Hi" when we walk in. If youre looking for exceptional sushi this is the place to go. (Its also a major win that with every sushi roll you get soup and salad).

My daughter took me here for lunch last month and Ive already brought my friends back twice since then. The food is incredible, the miso soup is not salty at all and the salad dress may be a thousand cousin, but its still yummy. If you love shrimp, try the geisha roll.... Its spectacular! Their waiter, Scott, is always a pleasure. He is professional, attentive and helpful.

Ordered a Philadelphia roll Saturday night and was very disappointed when I opened the takeout box. Roll looked incomplete and rushed. That had to have been the worst tasting sushi roll that I have ever had. I have had this place before and was very dissapointed that they would send this kind of food out to a paying customer.

Been waiting for the check for several minutes. Im standing and got my keys in my hand, ready to walk out the door and they just kept walking by and not saying anything or bringing the check. We had to stop someone.. The dinner portions were small for the price. Other than that the food is tasty.

Very good restaurant! I love sushi so I may be biased, but this is one of my favorite places to go for sushi. Some times their rice to fish ratio of their nigiri is low [little rice with huge slice of fish], but that is easy to fix. The location is great for me and everyone is very friendly.

I visited Umis once when they first opened and the rolls were so loose they fell out the wrapping. My sister is a huge fan so I had to go back and Im so glad I did! Definite improvement from my original experience in taste, service, and drinks! Now my go-to place when Im back in town!

The food was good, fish appeared fresh. Atmospherically the restaurant has mixed vibes. A cross between a sports bar and a romantic dinner. The service was not terrible, however the pacing was sluggish at times and refills never came. In summary, I would visit again.. but not soon.

My family and I have been coming to this restaurant for years and we love the food! The owner is so friendly and so is the staff! The sushi they make is so amazing! We have never been disappointed and will continue to eat at Umi. Thank you for all you do to make Umi so good!

Good sushi! One of the best in town! Price is kind of high for what you get. Childrens portions are HUGE but so is the price for a child plate. I would give a 5th star, but my kissy kissy roll and hard rock roll on the last visit (fried rolls) were both burnt on the ends.
