We have been customers of Hop Wong for years and have always loved it. Yesterday, we accidentally ordered from a competitor, because they had left a flier on our door... the flier ended up in the kitchen and it looked like a Hop Wong advertisement. Well, we did not look closely - just picked up the flier and placed an order. We didnt realize we had accidentally ordered from China Wok instead of Hop Wong until the food came... late. Then, after we paid, and gave a pretty generous tip, and brought the order into the kitchen we realized they had not sent all of the food. We checked the receipt... that is when we realized they charged us for all of the food, didnt send us all the food. It was also when we realized we HAD NOT ordered from Hop Wong. (Oooops) We called the competitor and explained that they had not sent all of the food. They told us they would send the missing food... but that it would be another hour before it would arrive. When I complained that it would take that long, the woman on the phone snapped at me "We have many customers ahead of you." When I told her that my food was supposed to have already arrived, along with the rest of our meals, she hung up on me. The remaining food never came. I have put the order in dispute with my credit card company. When we got around to eating what was sent, we realized the food was terrible compared to Hop Wong. This experience made us appreciate Hop Wong, the good food and excellent service they have provided to us over many, many years. We will not be making this same mistake again! :)

I ordered a broccoli tofu dish for delivery. It took so long to arrive that I ended up taking it to work the next day. When I opened the container, I saw a large chunk of tofu which looked totally raw. I heated the "dish" in the microwave and put the horrible bean sauce that came with it on top. The tofu was indeed very raw, the vegetables barely cooked and the sauce disgusting. Still I attempted to eat it since it was all I had for lunch. On about the third bite, however, I encountered something hard and jagged. It was a thick jagged piece of plastic! I threw the dish out and later called Hop Wong to speak to a manager. This was the worst experience of all. He blamed me for heating it the next day instead of eating it that night, (as if raw tofu and plastic shards taste better on the same day!). He also said, "The food is packed in plastic so sometimes it falls into the food." Really accountable restaurant, huh? In other words I was ripped off and the manager didnt give a crap that my food was bad and frankly, unsafe. (Jagged plastic is dangerous and raw tofu isnt very healthy either). I now totally believe the stories about cockroaches, etc. that other reviewers have written about this place. This place is filthy, rude and irresponsible and I will forward my complaint along with a record of my phone call to this irresponsible manager and his slimy response to a valid complaint to the Citys Food Inspector. Avoid this dirty place at all costs!

I had ordered from here before with no drawbacks. The food was great, no complaints at all. I just ordered food, and it took nearly two hours to get here. While it is around dinner time, its a Wednesday. Beyond this, the first time I called, the phone was answered by someone who not only sounded like a child, but also sounded as if they were putting on a fake Chinese accent. I hung up so I could figure stuff out, and they just kept calling and calling. Maybe I shouldnt have hung up, but calling repeatedly is a bit funny, Ive had calls dropped during orders at other places. So I call after an hour to figure out where the food is, when Im told by someone else that the food is ready and waiting for a driver. The food finally shows up, and its just terrible. I ordered chicken in garlic sauce, and it has absolutely no flavor at all other than oily. There is no hint of garlic, and not even the fried rice can help it. Its actually supposed to be spicy as indicated in the menu, but theres nothing. Ive only had a few bites and my stomach is just turning, its so disgusting. I wont bother calling back because I probably wont get anything out of it anyway.

This place is always busy. Probably because so many people like their food. I prefer Hop Wong over the other places. Im way out of their delivery area, so I go there and pick up my orders. All these places are pretty much the same, but Hop Wong is slightly better than the rest thats why I drive to Minneapolis from Saint Paul, to pick up my order. I rarely eat take-out, but this place is on my phone list just in case I need a quick meal, thats better than the drive-thru burger places, who hire employees that really dont want to be making your food for you. As with all food establishments, your going to get a bad review by someone, but you will get better service from a locally run business than a chain restaurant. I like to eat, which is why I prepare my own meals at home. But if you want something good, without the hassle of messing up your kitchen, try Hop Wong. Its one of the better places

My family and I have been getting our Chinese food here for years--love it! Im really surprised by the vast differences in opinion in these reviews. Their cream cheese won tons have spoiled me for anyone elses. Someone wrote a disparaging review about the sweet and sour shrimp and I agree that there is way too much batter on these, however, there is nothing else that I have ordered from this restaurant that I would not recommend. I cannot speak to those who like really spicy food because I dont like spicy--I never have tried any of the items printed in red. If you like your food spicy, let them know as this is the kind of restaurant that will cater to your request. This is a family-run business; you may have some trouble understanding their English sometimes, but they are super nice. I love the food I get at Hop Wong, and I also love their prices.

I go here all the time. The food has never been great but edible for a neighborhood food place. 2 days ago I ordered the szechuan shrimp. The first bite i noticed that the shrimp was either old or spoiled... Either way i took the food back. They refused to give me a refund. They said they would give me 15 percent off. After begging and pleading with them they still refused a ewfund and said there was nonthing wrong with the food. The cashier said its only you people who dont like it. That made me very upset. I continued to ask for a refund. Instead of a refund the CALLED THE POLICE.... STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE WE. ARE NOT VALUED CUSTOMERS....

we just got Hop Wong delivery. terrible experience from the start. food was 15 min later than they said. i ordered veggie chow mein, instead of fried noodles they gave me stale fried up strips of wonton wrapper! disgusting. the vegtables are fresh, but the sauce was tasteless. we poured about a tablespoon of oil out of the egg roll wrapper, and didint even bother trying it. we also got the four seasons, meat was rubbery and bland. cookies also tasted stale.
