An seen an announcement that informed me a band that I really liked was playing there. I decided to go on a whim, so I asked a friend to come with and we would get a bite and watch a great band. I walked in to find a seat and was told there was a cover. I am happy to pay a cover. Just then a couple did the same as we did while trying to find a seat. Judging by some other reviews they could really use a sign at the door otherwise people feel they have to apologize and explain they werent trying to sneak in to save face. I walked up to the counter and was asked what I wanted to drink. I asked if I could start a tab and was told I could but she wasnt going to because I wouldnt be spending enough. I informed her that we planned on eating, and was then told, "theres no food we quit serving at 8:00." I thought it was odd that a place like that would have music at 8:00 and quit serving any kind of food at 8:00. It is their business, so I am trying not to hold that against them. We took our drinks and walked towards the room where the band was playing, but there was no where to sit. We found a table in another area and sat down to listen as we couldnt see the band. I was about to be upset that I payed a cover to listen to a band from another room, with no food, where I was not able to see them, but the table next to the entrance opened up. we were able to move there and sit there and have a view from just outside the room. It wasnt bad. The room had a nice sound and we enjoyed the rest of the show. The whole concept of the place is pretty cool though they arent really setup for it. I would go back to try the food sometime because the place smelled great! As far as the service goes I am beyond disappointed. It was my first time there and I was made to feel awkward and like I was an inconvenience. I hate writing bad reviews, but I was a little bummed after the whole experience.

My husband and I went here to celebrate Valentines Day. We were unable to do so on Valentines Day, so we went a couple days early. We have never been here before, but I can tell you, we will definitely be back! We are BIG foodies, and I must say this is some of the best food we have ever tasted. We had the truffle menu, and all was delicious! The wine, although not the quality we expected, was still delicious and the pairings were impeccable! The ambiance was perfect, very quiet and romantic, yet not uncomfortable. The service could not have been better, both gals were extremely friendly and very knowledgeable about everything. We were thoroughly impressed! There was a slight disappointment, as we were told that February 12-15 would be a special menu with it being a combination of both the truffle and chocolate menu. When we arrived, it was only the truffle menu, so we were disappointed. Another slight disappointment was the desserts. This is not their strong point, we felt they were just average. But still, even with those minor disappointments, could not give them less than a 5 star rating, wed probably give them more if we could! I am sure this will now become one of our favorite restaurants!

A few years ago, I tried Bayport BBQ based on multiple recommendations from friends. It was wonderful. The meat was moist, tender, and flavorful. The sauce was sublime. Eventually I moved away and held onto fond memories of my visits there and made a point of making Bayport BBQ a part of my visits to Minnesota. On my most recent visit to Minnesota, I went Bayport BBQ and was extremely disappointed. The restaurant has been converted to a buffet. Where the meat used to be moist and tender, it is now dry and hard from sitting for a long time in a buffet. The sides, which used to be just like the ones I remember from growing up in the South, are now flavorless. Even worse, the buffet is still $15/person. After such an overpriced and, frankly, bad meal, I will no longer be visiting Bayport BBQ.

All I can review is the outside of the building and what I could see thru the front window...The couple finishing up their lunch, the 2 employees standing by the back counter gazing at me, NOT answering the ohone, NOT coming to the door. Then I remembered they were closed between 2-5? for some reason and I was thinking after a 4.5 hour drive and it being SAT after being featured on Triple D.. they might have the sense to stay open and nap after work not in the middle of the afternoon..The couple next to us whom came from Iowa wondered also...Luckily across the river was a place called Big Guys BBQ, opened up 6 months ago... they still had some work to do because I COULD NOT PULL THE RIBS APART! SERIOUSLY1 and your to go tote should not be made of cardboard...Really? at least THEY WERE OPEN!!

Its just excellent BBQ. The ribs were blackened and just fell apart easily. The sides I tried, cole slaw and baked beans were really good. The beans could be a meal by themselves with a lot of pork pieces included in the beans. My wife loved the chicken and the bread is phenomenal if you are a bread person. The slaw was a bit plain, but with the BBQ sauce added it was delightful. The only complaint I would have is there is only 1 sauce. Its homemade and is good. It wasnt my favorite BBQ sauce ever and tasted a little like a smoky salsa not objectionable in the least. And definitely not spicy if you are a spicy BBQ person. But the ribs, served dry, are delicious all by themselves. Ill definitely be back

I think this place is not good. BBQ it is, good it is not. The meat lacks substance, and the sauce is just OK. The staff are moderate at best. I just really cant see what is good about this place. I have tried it twice too, hoping it would be better, but it is not. There is a red-haired woman that works there, I think is the owner or the owners wife. I think her name is Kristen or Christine or something. Complete imbecile when trying to exact a response to a pertinent question or even hint at something that would require any thought whatsoever. Her attitude is quite poor. She also resembles the Michelin man in a troll mask. WOW! Looks good through the window, just go somewhere else.

First - Beware... my review from the Bayport Cookery (a closed restaurant in that same footprint) was somehow automagically ported to Bayport BBQ. Ive had very good experiences here consistantly. Food is great. BBQ sauce is a little wanting, IMHO. If you like a vinegar base, youll be fine. I prefer molasses - and the vinegar is the only option. Only other detractor is that they dont take credit cards... which is really an annoyance more than anything. Service is great and the food and drinks are fantastic. They also regularly have live music.
