This a great local mom and pop restaurant in the middle of country. Great Food, Good service and great people. First for those of you who are not familiar this place it is the old Pickle Barrel of which I still call it just a habit. When it was sold and changed names to Bone Heads I was skeptical because I thought they changed into a biker bar. After going there and realizing the new owners didnt change a thing except add BBQ to the menu and few other items. My family goes there quite often and I have to say the BBQ is just as good as Famous Daves and cheaper. We have had them cater many family and business events of which everyone raves of the BBQ. The pickle chips are a must and I have had pickle chips at other restaurants who claim they have pickle chips but nothing measures up. As for BBQ I would recommend the BBQ chicken, pulled BBQ chicken sandwich minus the cheese, Beef Brisket is fantastic. I am not a pork fan in general but I have heard the BBQ pork is amazing as well. They do have great salads, chicken breast, burgers and steaks. They also have really great deserts and fully stocked bar with TVs. FYI they are closed on Mondays.

On Friday, November 15, 2013 @ 8 p.m. I came to Bone Heads for my brothers birthday dinner. Everything was fine until I ordered a Texas Tenderloin steak to be cooked well done. It came to my table well burnt, dry, and nasty instead!! The manager came to me after I sent the nasty steak back and said I had ordered it well done, thats how its made , it was juicy (How would she know, did she taste it?) I could either order something else or she could box it up for me. Why would I want a nasty burnt dry steak boxed up, I wouldnt even feed that nasty crap to my dog!!! I have been to bone heads many times and never had food that nasty. The manager was unprofessional and it was pathetic that I had to pay for a nasty meal that I couldnt even eat!! You are the only establishment who has this stupid and ignorant policy where a customer who is totally dissatisfied made to pay for her nasty meal. Never again will I ever eat at your establishment and I will make sure that I let everyone know just how horrendous my meal was and how horrible it was taken care of by your unprofessional manager. Beware, stay far, far away from Bone Heads on Willis Road!!!!!!!

1st time at Boneheads. The ambiance was cool with the feeling of being in an old timey bldg, not bad!! My daughters Cajun jambalaya was not bad, it had flavor. I got the BBQ combo.ribs, chicken, pulled pork and brisket and all of it was probably some of the worst BBQ I have ever had and I have eaten a whole lot of Q in my life. The brisket was rubbery like a rubber band, the pulled pork was pre saturated in BBQ sauce, like that garbage you buy in a tub at the grocery store and microwave it, the ribs were fatty and tasteless and the chicken was so so, my greens tasted like boiled greens in water they are supposed to have a pork or vinegar flavor or preferably both of those flavors. 1st and foremost any reputable BBQ should not be served with BBQ sauce on it with the exception of ribs, as the pitmasters say if they serve it with sauce they must be trying to hide something. Sauce should ALWAYS be served on the side, again with the exception of ribs. The reason for that is so you can taste the smokey flavor of the meat that the pitmaster works hard to obtain. We might go back here someday but it will definitely not be for their Q.

Used to be one of our favorite places to eat until our last visit. Our waitress had to many smoke breaks, we had to ask other waitresses for drinks. When our appetizers came it appeared that our 2 orders of pickle chips became one order split between two plates. We ordered another just to see if there was a difference. Sure enough, there was. When the food came out, one of our party received corn bread that was burnt black. Everyone commented on how this person wasnt going to eat that. Didnt phase the waitress at all. Then my beer battered fish came. Painfully obvious that it had been fried, then re fried to a dark hardened mass and then to boot, it was cold. Waitress came back after another smoke break and asked it everything was alright. I replied, "I need some fish that hasnt been re fried and is a least room temperature if hot isnt an option and we need a piece of corn bread that is edible. We wont be going back anytime soon.

We are regulars because this is our local watering hole. The building is beautiful and historic. The food is inconsistent at best. Sometimes the ribs are supreme but most times chewy and tough. One time we had take out and they were so tough they were inedible. French onion soup is pretty consistently good, however one time we ordered it and it tasted more like onion water than French Onion Soup (my guess is that they didnt let the onions carmelize long enough). The one consistently delicious dish is the Death by Pork with bacon, pulled pork and ham...delicious! On the times that food was not good we found out quickly that the male owner (I think his wife is the kind co-owner but I havent seen her in over a year) was not open to feedback or very approachable and was very unfriendly. That being said, the staff, especially in the bar, are extremely attentive, kind, jovial and friendly. Clearly, professional staff that know their craft.

The place looks like a biker bar when you pull up to it but dont let that intimidate you it has a good atmosphere when you walk in the door there is a side to dine like as a family and then the other side where theres a bar or you can order takeout and just pick it up and leave. I got BBQ sandwich which was huge and onion rings and fried pickles it was really good I believe the onion ring and barbecue sandwich basket was like 8 bucks. I did order takeout when I was there I didnt spend a lot of time there maybe 20 minutes but it seems like a very nice place . I was there at about 4 or 5 oclock in the afternoon about early supper time maybe later in the evening they could turn more into a bar atmosphere but there was families dining when I was there.

We went here last weekend with a party of 8 and had an overall great experience. Nobody in the party had been here before, yet we heard from some friends that the food was good. The dining room/bar was very nice, the staff and service was excellent, and the food was excellent. We had the fried pickles which were very good and reasonably priced for the amount you get. We tried the pulled pork, brisket, ribs, and chicken. Not one complaint about anything. The owner of the place came out and talked to us and was a very nice guy. he even gave us all some jello shots! The one-man band that played added to the experience. He was very good and really entertained us. We will definitely be going back to Boneheads. It is a hidden gem.
