We gave this place a try based on the great reviews it gets and we were not disappointed in the least. We all had fish and all three plates were very different but all were good. I started with the spicy black been soup and it had a gumbo quality to it that was outstanding. My wife had the perch (good, but probably the least spectacular of our three meals), my daughter had the arctic char (very flavorful and a generous portion) and I had the blackened swordfish (also a generous portion but served in bite-sized pieces with a homemade cajun hollandaise sauce - easily the best blackened swordfish I have ever had). Seeing that they are known for their coconut cream pie, the three of us split one large piece of that for dessert after learning that all of their pies are homemade on site. Dessert was also amazing. I will make a point of going back to this place again. It was spectacular in every way and it is a very easy detour off of 94.

Had the worst experience at this restaurant. It was very beautiful and the food was good, but the owners are rude and ignorant. We had reserved tables for a party, and not only did they not treat us with respect, but they basically pushed us out the door. We were finishing up our meal and talking, (because it was a special occasion) and the owner, a woman, came and told us that our bus driver wanted us to leave and that she was backed up for tables. Well, our driver did not say anything to the woman, so she was lying and rudely irged us to get out. Not only that but our "private" party was in the middle of a huge room where our group was separated and there were smaller tables on all sides of us. Rude people. It was just outrageous.

While at the Great Mere Inn the three of us had some type of fish (scallops, shrimp and white fish) which were all absolutely fantastic. I had wanted to the mushrooms however found out there was seasoning on them which the cooks were nice enough to make me some without. The kitchen was quick, staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. A great view and even though we could not see due to the fog, they told us you can see Chicago on a clear night since you can see Lake Michigan from the restaurant . Definitely have to try if in the the area. Well worth it!!

stopped her on our way back from Chicago to Paw Paw, food and service was great. It has become our favorite restaurant and we try to go there for all special occasions and sometimes in between. Took our adult children and spouses for Christmas dinner, they raved and raved," never had better seafood and the blackened swordfish was amazing." We are going again this year. A family tradition has started.

Stopped in on our way back from Chicago to Battle Creek. Our first time so we have only tried two entrees. Blackened Swordfish (we both loved), and the filet mignon which was good also. Great view of the lake, great service. Waitress gave us a dessert on the house to go as it was our first visit. Not saying this is normal practice, but it was a great visit.

This has been my favorite restaurant for going on 20 years. I grew up in Stevensville and loved going here with my family. I now live about 3 hours away and cant go as often as Id like to. But my family still lives in the area, so we go here as often as possible. Love their chicken, steaks, and seafood. And their torte dessert is AMAZING!

Unfortunately I just had the worst experience in this restaurant. When my dinner came was a fly in my salad! In top of that, my husband Filet mignon was over cooked and not tender are all. The restaurant is very expensive for the quality of food and the quality of service! I wont recommend this place are all!

We were seated and there was an extremely large man sitting so close at the table next to me where he was blocking me. He was very unclean and smelled very bad. It took away from a good night with my husband, and made it where all I wanted to do was leave.

Amazing service and the best food in 100 miles! Prices are reasonable for the quality of the whole dining experience. Also an unobstructed (if somewhat distant) view of Lake Michigan; the building sits on a bluff a mile or so inland.

Bread is good, baked potato tasted like it was baked last week, fresh green beans had no flavor at all, my entree which was stuffed shrimp was awful and my friend left most of hers. Quality of food has gone down.

We had our wedding rehearsal dinner at Grande Mere 36 years ago. Because they have fantastic food, great service and it holds wonderful memories, we celebrate our anniversary at Grande Mere every year.

The bar area is very nice, I never eat in the restaurant. Reasonably drink prices always friendly staff. Theyre appetisers are great and I would really recommend the blackened swordfish.
