The manager at this place is such a jerk. I used the online ordering service they have on their website to get some sushi and chicken tempura for lunch - a "lunch box" they were offering. When I arrive to pick it up, the manager informed me that the pricing was wrong and hed have to speak to their online ordering service about that. Thought it was weird he felt the need to tell me, but ok, guess I caught a break. Even left a tip since I knew they were missing out on a few dollars. Got back to work and what I received was completely different than what I ordered - no sushi at all, and some kind of teriyaki chicken instead, along with a shrimp and veggie tempura. I called to explain the mix up to the restaurant and see if there was anything they would do (listen, I was really looking forward to some sushi...). He spent the whole conversation telling me that I shouldnt have expected to get what I ordered for $8 anyway and that he had to change it because of that pricing mix up, which was NOT communicated in our first interaction when I walked in. Im ok with orders being messed up, it happens, but if you use a third-party company to provide an online ordering service, and the information that is on there is incorrect, it shouldnt be the customer that suffers. Had thought about coming back to this place to dine in sometime but Ill never order from here again.

I see all these great reviews, is this what passes for good in the Midwest? For starters the decor is insane; it looks like a Japanese version of Cher exploded inside of a Red Lobster garage sale. Second, the miso soup comes with a big silver spoon, as if it were chicken noodle. The salad is warm and the dressing is that chunky ginger soy stuff they sell at the store. THEN the main course: The California rolls were warm and soggy. The sushi was bland, there was no distinct taste in between pieces. Oh, and the tuna nigiri looked like beef jerky- it was so gross looking I didnt even eat it. To top it all off the salmon teriyaki looked like a piece of burnt brisket, and when biting into it all you taste is oil and *chicken*, which happens when you reuse the same oil and pan for everything you cook. Round it all out with staff that seem mildly inconvenienced by your presence, and that is probably the worst lunch I have ever had.

Hands down best tekkadon EVER!! I am a super picky sushi eater and long time loyalist of sakura. That being said......I freaking love this place. The atmosphere is like a cross between a Joes crab shack and a barbecue joint. Lots of space, huge selection of fish all amazingly fresh, and damn reasonable cost to boot. The staff, which seems to consist of mostly nice older ladies, all of whom are easy to understand, and quite chatty if given the opportunity, were amazing. I am a huge tuna snob and I could not have been happier with the taste and texture of the tuna for my Tekkadon. Sooooo good. Also had the most amazing dessert. Three words for you. Green. Tea. Cheesecake. It was glorious. Exactly what I would expect of a green tea flavored cheesecake. So tasty and was not cloyingly sweet like some cheesecakes can be. Overall, I will be back. A lot.

Among all of the other sushi bars in Indianapolis Ive sampled, Ocean World remains my favorite. The quality and variety of sushi available are superior, and the price is excellent. Surprisingly pleasant for this holiday season is the availability of gift cards for my friends and family. If youre looking to introduce someone new to sushi, try a box meal. It has the perfect combination of cooked/raw fish with delicious tempura vegtables/shrimp. For the more seasoned palette, I would recommend experimenting with a combination of the rolls they offer. Ive brought many a novice friend here and managed to convert them to sushi lovers with the deliciousness of this establishment. Kudos!

I had sushi with miso soup and a side salad. My food was very good, the portions were satisfactory--larger than many competitors, and the prices are average for the type of cuisine--not the highest or the lowest in town. The service was average, certainly not bad but not exceptional. This has been consistently a good place to eat in Indianapolis for many years. The womens restroom was clean and in good repair which is, in my opinion, a big tell about the quality of any restaurant. If the restrooms are disgusting I will never go back. I was very satisfied with the meal, would recommend it to friends, and will eat there again.

I have been dining here for years. The staff is always happy to see you come back and will suggest a favorite from a previous visit if you dont happen to order it! The sushi is easily the best in Indy, with rolls that are fairly priced and often bigger and cheaper than competitors around town. Every time I try another sushi restaurant I am usually disappointed in the service and/or quality of the food. Ocean World has been around longer than every sushi place in town and the quality of the food, particularly the sushi, is the reason why. Service is slower during peak hours, so plan accordingly, but the food is worth the wait.

Still my favorite sushi restaurant in the US. A place in California with 5 sushi chefs and an all you can eat bar came close once. They are know pretty well for their soft shell crab roll. Where they even load the top of it with more soft shell crab mix. My personal favorite is bobs roll a tempura asparagus and salmon roll. It is such a unique flavor of almost lox taste and the crunch of asparagus. Mmmm Hungry Yet :) The place is also decorated in an 10,000 leagues under the sea vibe. Best of all the prices are decent for quality sushi so you can grab an extra roll to try. Go try it just be sure to save me a table.

I had the worst service EVER here! It took a half hour just to get someone to take our order. Different people served us at each turn and none acted like they cared. The Miso was unimpressive. The Florida roll tasted like a bland tuna salad. The Rock N Roll tasted like overused oil. The crab was good, but too oily as well. When we finally got someone to take our cards after waiting almost another half hour to get the bill our credit cards got passed from person to person and took so long to run that we wondered if they were duplicating the cards or what. Will never go back.

we have been going here for years and have really never really had a bad experience. it can be noisy at times, and when the restaurant is packed, things can (surprise!) slow down a bit. it is not a huge restaurant, so make reservations. a lot of people seem to like Sakura as well, but we have had some less than great experiences there in the past. if you have reservations at Ocean World, they will seat you shortly after you arrive. i do not believe this is the same at Sakura. i think you move to the front of the line basically.

I live across the street from that restaurant that apparently has very little regard for the neighborhood it is a part of. They have their carpets cleaned in the middle of the night, past 10PM, which is a blatant violation of the citys noise ordinance and demonstrate contempt for the local residents. I am pretty sure that work can be done by closing the business earlier and respecting the neighborhoods peace... I will stay away from now on and spend my money at sushi places.
