We just noticed this restaurant last night driving by.. Being a thai food lover, I immediately googled this restaurant and read the reviews. Convinced my husband to visit them for lunch today, and the food did not disappoint. Walking in; the atmosphere is very nice and the restaurant is very clean. We were greeted by Shirley, a lovely lady explaining the menu and talking about our thai food preferences. My husband went with fried rice with basil and jalapeños.. He told her make me whatever you would eat! So the dish is not on the menu, per se. I went with pha-ram-long-song.. My staple at any (new) thai restaurant. As we visited @ lunch hour we were served a delicious hot and sour soup. My husband does not like hot n sour soup but LOVED this one. Very complex flavors but very, very tasty. We also ordered an order of springrolls which were very yummy and the ingredients tasted fresh. Both our lunches were very much enjoyed by us. Nice, fresh ingredients, pretty plating and great, balanced flavors combined with a clean and friendly environment will make us regulars! If you are in the area, do yourself a favor and stop in for a great meal! :)

I first heard of Mr Thai from reading reviews. I researched some of the best Thai restaurants in the area, and Thai Basil (Livonia) came up; however, recent reviews indicated that its chef who helped established Thai Basil had relocated to a new restaurant called Mr Thai. From the moment I stepped in, the lady helping me ensured that I was taken care of. I ordered the Basil Stir Fry, as I usually do when dining at new Thai restaurants. The Basil Stir Fry arrived fresh and full of flavor. Besides including the standard set of peppers and meat, the dishs sauce separated itself from the pack. Halfway into my meal, the waitress noticed that I was low on rice and offered to provide more. In the end, I left nothing on the plate. Sensing defeat, I requested the check along with a couple of menus to recommend Mr Thai to friends. The best Thai restaurants I have eaten in metro Detroit: Mr Thai (Northville) and Siam Spicy (Royal Oak). I still have yet to experience Bangkok 96 and Sy Thai.

Hate the food. It was ridiculous And the server was really bad to us or horrible i should say. I did not like the service provided i asked for a spoon to eat rice and was given a soup spoon. She never offered me chopsticks. We were three people and we did not get the food all at once. At the end she was concerned about the tip. She was very picky. She made me calculate the difference of bill and total i paid. She started questioning me if i know the american standard tip culture. She want me to never come back to the dinning and instead go for take away. I am shocked she said that. She said shame on me and my country. All that i said was i wasnt satisfied with the food and servicing and gave 1$ for a 40$ bill because i did not want to. SHE IS A RACIST. CHASED ME TO MY CAR AND SAID SHAME ON INDIA.

yes I hate that place, the lady is a office manager no waitress and is really bad when she try to mix up both of them, so she didnt know how to handle customers, she is always mad, never polite, as soon as we took the table, she bring 2 cups of water, and didnt ask what do you want to drink, it was like this is what you deserve, she didnt like families, or kids, she is living in bitterness, and she express that, my worst experience in a restaurant, she got crazy, cause we wont leave a tip, how could it be, if she didnt work for us, the preparation of food, was too slow, she prefer carry out customers, or MEN, yes she really likes old man or business man, she told me that at the check out, next time carry out, can you believe it? please never stop by at this place, be really careful, caution

I love the food here , service is fast, food comes out very quickly. The customer service I received was superb. I find it funny to see that there are people giving out terrible reviews because of their experiences. Im sorry, if you are tipping a server (whom by the way do not make that much) 1 dollar on a 40 dollar bill, please do yourself and every other waiter/waitress a favor, dont go out to eat. That is such a disgrace to anyone. If you dont like the food , fine, but the waiter didnt cook the food. no waiter deserves such a bad compensation for the "food not tasting good" Anyways, back to this, I went in when they were extremely busy, food came out hot and great. Very happy that they were willing to serve the food when it was ready instead of waiting for everyones to be ready.

EXTREMELY RUDE to the customers!!!! I cam in on an Saturday for lunch, ordered fried rice and asked if they had hot tea. They served the tea without mentioning it would cost and confirming with me. The menu has no price tag of tea and did not say lunch price not applicable on weekend. When I got the bill with about $13 fried rice and $1 tea after lunch, I asked if they could explain. You have no idea how the boss answered:" You give me the food back, and I give you the money back"!!!! R u kidding me??? Could you imagine the offensive answer??? Is this the way to answer a reasonable question from the customer??? I was literally SHOCKED!!!! If you feel too good about yourself and want to be offended, then come here, order something very expensive and talk to the boss!!!

I heard that the former chef of Thai Basil started this new restaurant and decided to give it a try for lunch. It was excellent! The crab rangoons were great and the Chicken Pad Cashew was extremely flavorful with just the right amount of heat. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive and the restaurant was immaculately clean. You can also see the cooking area used by the chefs which provides a great peace of mind as well. Judging by their full dining area (although not a large number of tables) it appears that Mr. Thai is gaining a loyal following. The portions are very generous and the prices are good. Ill be going back often to satisfy my craving for Thai!

One word of advice: Go! This place is great. Only about 10 tables. Service is fast considering theres so little staff. VERY clean and new interior. Prices are cheap. Tom Yum soup is extremely flavorful. Spring rolls are hand-made and delicate. Red Curry was amazing and the shrimp were large and FRESH. Drunken Noodles were large in flavor and portion with FRESH veggies. I have eaten at every known Thai place in metro-Detroit and this beats them all. Best part, they deliver for a 3 mile radius and I live less than a mile away. Im considering just having my paycheck directly deposited with them and whatever I dont spend they can hand back to me. Go!!

Absolutely fantastic and authentic. Very similar to the many meals I was fortunate enough to eat while in Thailand itself. I asked for a dish I not on the menu and they gladly made it right then and there (Larb gai). In the future they asked just to call in advance in order for special dishes to come out at the same time as menu items. The best Thai food in Michigan. Gorgeous, purple Thai basil and all of the trimmings including fresh chopped bird chilis in fish sauce were all available upon request. They even steamed some extra chicken for the kids and their leftover sauce.
