If I could give 0 stars, I would! I have never ate at Marine City Fish Company, but have heard GREAT things about them from friends and family. So I thought this would be a great gift idea for Christmas gifts for some family members who live in the area. (I am out of state.) I called 2 weeks ago and spoke with a 16 or 17 year old (young sounding) hostess. I asked to speak to a manager and she told me they were busy. I then explained I wanted to purchase gift cards and have them mailed to me. She then sets down the phone and had to receive instruction on how to do this (probably from the "busy" manager standing right beside her). I gave her my debit card info, my address and the amount I wanted ($100 in gift cards). I asked her to repeat back my info and she said "Um, Im pretty sure I have the right info, Ill just take your phone number incase the card info doesnt go through." Ok. I ask when I should expect them in the mail (knowing when my mother who lives in the area mails me things, it takes 2-3 days). The young girl says, "UMMMMM, when do you need them by?". Sure they are Christmas gifts, but if Ive spent $100 in September, I want to have them in hand so its one less thing I have to worry about. Fast forward to today, 2 weeks later, and I call and ask to speak to a manager. Im told the manager isnt in till 5:30pm, I politely ask for their name and am told "I honestly dont know, we have a couple". Ok, this is ridiculous. Your employees need some common sense and 101 in customer service. Were talking about Marine City for crying out loud. Im pretty sure you do not have more then 2-4 managers to manage this little restaurant, or do you? Nothing is clear because the employees seem totally confused about everything- they supposedly dont even know their managers name! I never complain, but when I spend $100 in hopes of easing my Christmas shopping and have to deal with this, Im totally frustrated! We are always looking for fun, local places to enjoy but Im sorry this restaurant wont be on our list as I have a bad taste in my mouth just from the over the phone contact Ive had with your company. And I still have $100 in gift cards no where to be seen!

I have never been compelled to write a review before but this was the worst dinner I have ever had. We waited about 5 minutes to be seated at the outside dinning patio. The heavy wood chairs were much more comfortable then they looked and there was a wonderful piano player. It was a beautiful evening and I thought it was a perfect ending to a wonderful day. We ordered an appetizer of bread with a salmon dip and 3 dinners. The appetizer was ok but after waiting an hour for our meals the surprisingly comfortable chairs became a torture devise on our lower backs. After waiting another 30 minutes we started looking for our waitress to get our check and we would pick up something to eat on our way home. Finally our waitress appeared and low and behold she had our dinners. As she put the plates down she offered an apology for the wait and then quickly disappeared. My dinner was saute perch and rice. One bite of the lake peach confirmed it tasted as soggy as it looked and the rice was in clumps. I stuck one of the clumps of rice with my fork and lifted the entire thing up but could not bring myself to taste it. Dinner #2 fish and chips was also soggy and uneatable. I was told Dinner #3 of fried walleye was good but not worth an 1.75 hrs wait. While waiting to use the 1 bathroom located outside the kitchen door I notice the floor felt slippery, I looked down and notice the greasy pathway exiting the kitchen. When the door opened as staff went in and out I was horrified by the sight in the kitchen. I was very thankful I only ate one bite, we paid our $60 bill and left. We ate the best peanut butter and jelly sandwiches when we got home

I have been to the Marine City Fish Company many times. I have never been let down. Room is small and seating is tight but the food and service is worth the lack elbow room. In fact the small dining room gives the place a sense of excitement because it is always busy (reservations are a must on weekends). The food is marvelous - if they do not have a Chef then their cook should be one. They are innovative with their dishes but they keep to what you would expect of a "Fish Company". The chowder is amazing! Marine City is a sleepy little town on the St Clair River right across from Canada, thus you will always find a good number Canadians spending their time dining there. That gives it an international feel (because everyone loves Canadians). Marine City has many popular eating spots but none at the level of the Fish Company. Gars is great for burgers, beer and curving your name on a picnic table, Anitas is great for pizza, beer and watching the ships but the Fish Company is great appetizers, great entrees and great deserts - a real full service place for a foodie!

The absolute worst service Ive ever experienced at a restaurant. Forgotten food, 4 of our party didnt get their meals at all, forgot to bring out bread with our meals, empty beverages the whole time there. Had to ask for silverware, and napkins, and water, and refills, and bread, and tarter sauce (at a "Fish" place)...they serve a BLT....with no mayo. Really One waitress for our party of 16. We looked around and noticed everyone sitting down...didnt have any food on their tables either. The guy next to us, said he was waiting an hour and a half for his food. Not bad, we waited 2 hours. Asked for the manager, some 17 year old kid with sneakers came out and sputtered some goofball excuse. Then finally at the end, another lady came out and said they would try to make up for the missing dinners. Wait a second, who was the first manager then? Completely ruined our daughters birthday dinner! Dont waste the long drive out there, but if you do...be ready to stand in a LOOOOOONG line. Just like the people we walked past as we were leaving, 3 hours and 15 minutes later.

One of the biggest surprises (pleasant ) Ive had in long time at a restaurant. Middle of nowhere, unassuming place in a small town... awesome food. Our table was in a share-sy mood, so I was able to try the yellow belly perch and the smoked spare ribs. Highly recommend. The perch had a light, crispy finish on it that wasnt overdone. They serve it with a house tartar sauce that was a lot lighter in thickness than most, so it didnt overwhelm the fish. The ribs were really tender and the smoking on them was amazing. Hickory mesquite is where its at. We took home some of their smoked salmon and beef jerky (both made with their hickory/mesquite smoking)...unreal. If they shipped, Id be ordering every month. Make sure if you go to at least take a look at these. Theyre not your traditional salt-bomb smoked salmon or super-chewy jerky. Drop in if youre anywhere near D-Town, youll love the food.
