The Fleetwood Diner is a throwback and exactly what you think of when you think of the word "diner." My first weekend in Lansing, I accidently stumbled on the Fleetwood while driving around lost trying to get back to my new place, so, of course, the next day we headed back for breakfast. The Fleetwood is an interesting place. The exterior is a metallic silver. The inside is cramped. You walk into the counter and to either side is a small dining room. One smoking and one non-smoking. There is a bench that runs along with wall with tables pushed up against them and chairs on the other side and there are a couple booths along the back wall plus a few tables in between. We were seated at one of the in between tables. The host gave us the menus and took drink orders. A different waitress came back with drink and took our meal order. I got a bacon omelet which came with four pieces of toast and hash browns. The omelet took up a good portion of the plate and had big chunks of cripsy bacon. The toast could have used a little more butter and I didnt really dive into the hashbrowns since Im not really a fan. The other guy in my group got the french toast and a cup of coffee. His plate came with 6 pretty good slices of bread which he polished off pretty quickly. Now, the ladies dove right into the Fleetwoods specialty....the Hippie Hash. My girlfriend got eggs and toast and got the Hash as a side. She didnt say anything about either the eggs or the toast, but really enjoyed the hash. Hippie Hash consists of the Fleetwoods homemade hash browns topped with grilled tomato, green pepper, onion, mushroom and broccoli topped with feta cheese. On the plate, it just looks like a mess, but both my girlfriend and her mom (who ordered the Hippie Hash as a meal) enjoyed it and will probably go back for it. The Fleetwood is just a classic 24 hour diner. The people were great, the atmosphere is that retro diner feel Im always looking for in a new city. The food was alright, but Im sure this is a place Im going to take anyone and everyone who comes to town for a visit. You just have to see the Fleetwood.

I must ammend my previous review to indicate how insensitive and discriminatory this restaurants employees and management is or has become. I have been frequenting the Fleetwood since moving to Michigan four years ago. The food and service in the past have always been stellar, until my last visit. For the last 4 years I have always been accompanied by my loyal service dog Buddy and at no time in the past has any employee ever given me a hard time or done anything to make a case of PTSD worse. But when I attempted to enter I was shouted at by someone from the kitchen who told me my dog was not allowed. My dog wears a vest with 2 inch reflective words indicating he is a service dog, not to mention I have visited with my dog at least 50 times before my last visit. My experience has caused me never to return to such a place that discrimination against a person with the need for a service animal. Perhaps management should read the Americans with Disabilities act of 1990 and read that you must have a reasonable accommodation for those with service animals. You can only ask two questions of the handler of the animal: 1) is that a service animal and 2) What service does the animal provide. Both of which are clearly indicates on the dog. So a warning to anyone with service animals AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE HEALTH INSPECTOR CLOSED!!

We love the diner, but twice weve run into a super rude old man who apparently likes to yell "shut up" and bang the dishes, walls, etc. at children. The diner could be super noisy with adults talking and laughing loudly, but he only yells at kids laughter and merriment because hes a jerk. We told him to stop harassing our kid (who wasnt being bad, just excited to eat) and he told us to mind our own business, which gave us a good laugh. The other patrons near us thanked us for saying something and commented on him being out of line as well. The waitress told us he does this to every kid, every time hes there, and that he would be banned. So we went tonight and look who shows up? He gave my kid the evil eye right away, and, even though the diner was empty, still sat near us (?). Its like hes looking for a fight. With a kid. If we have an incident again, I dont know what theyll say they will do about it, but they should respect their other customers enough to follow through with the ban. At the very least he is disruptive, at most, he is threatening violence to children.

if your NOT WHITE dont go here there very racist, i ordered a grilled chicken salad and as i was ordering the waiters where looking at me with disgusting looks for NO REASON im over all a very polite person due to the fact i have alot of respect for people in the restaurant business b/c i too have worked for restaurants and i kno what they go through but to be treated with NO RESPECT FOR NO REASON was uncalled for. when i got my salad i had literally a pinch of cheese so i ask for more due to the portion of the salad the man immediately gave me attitude and told me thats what i payed for. i told him i would pay for extra no problem then he snatched my food out my hand and sprinkled cheese on my salad with his BARE HANDS to avoid confrontation i jus left. The salad ended up bein gross b/c the chicken was hard and the lettuce was old.HORRIBLE SERVICE, HORRIBLE OVER PRICED FOOD AND RACIST!

We came here last night and the service we got was horrible. First off our waitress was very scatter brained and kept forgetting items for our order and had to make multiple trips because she kept forgetting something. I still never received bacon that I ordered. Also my girlfriends omelette was undercooked and she got halfway without noticing because it looked like melted cheese. This is the second time this had happened. We told the waitress she took it back and the cook kept glaring at us the entire time after. The waitress also never made it back to the table the entire time 3 other people ate and finished their food. It was a horrible experience and were never coming back. Which sucks because we used to come all the time and everything was always great. I dont know if they got new cooks, or what, but were both pretty bummed.

Yo, I dont know why there are any bad reviews. Ive been going here for over a year now at every time of day or night possible and I have not had one bad experience. The food is fantastic and this place has some of the best servers I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. They are definitely NOT racist or awful to anyone. Ive only seen the staff be impolite to people who were being unecessarily rude to them first. I dont blame them, if youre rude, you deserve it. Dont go out to eat if youre going to pick apart every little thing about the establishment. I always have a wonderful time when I eat here as well. Ive taken countless friends and family members and they also loved it. I suggest the Hippie Hash and any of their Greek food. You will not be displeased!
