I am writing this post to let everyone know how poor is customer service at Chutneys. I was a regular visitor to this place (in last one week, I went four times). Food is pretty descent, BUT customer service is extremely poor. Self experience of today...ordered onion tomato uttapam,. took a bite and realized it was not properly cooked and could taste the uncooked batter. I brought this to the notice guys at the restaurant and they acknowledged by taking it off the table. Then I asked for the bill, did not bother to look at it and gave my credit card and to my surprise uttapam was charged for after i got the receipt to sign. I asked them why am I still charged for it while it was not cooked and I did not eat it. He took the receipt back. Another guy walked to me saying "sir, inside our chef tasted it and we also tasted it from what you left in the plate and we think this is fully cooked. After hearing this, I just asked them to get me the receipt, I signed it with no tip. I AM NEVER GOING TO THIS PLACE AGAIN. You just lost a customer and a good source of revenue. Good luck!

We had one of our worst restaurant experiences here. We (8) arrived for dinner buffet at 8:50PM. There was no food and they said that they will refill everything within 10 mins. There was no food even after 20 mins and what they gave us were 2 cold dosas each. When complained, the response was "we do not want to waste food". Meanwhile they kept telling us that the buffet will be closed at 9:30PM. There was not enough food for even 3 ppl and most of us had to eat whatever remaining stuff was there. The server was arrogant and the owner has nothing to say but sorry. When we said that they could tell us earlier about not having sufficient food, they kept on saying that, tell us what you need and we will make it but did not bring anything other than some cold dosas. Curd rice, curry and appetizers were out. On top of that, 18% gratuity was applied shamelessly because we were 8 ppl Never go at this place and waste your money. There are better Indian restaurants nearby with better service. I would not even give 1 star for this restaurant.

Very Very Bad Experience. . . This was my Favorite restaurant but now - - No More . . . I will never go to this place next time . . . I went to this restaurant today with my Family . . . initially everything was good, but after some time everything turned bad. I have to go to counter and ask for service. So we decided not to put more tip. When we were leaving the restaurant, Owner came to my Father while we were leaving and asked for Tip . . . When I put some decent tip, he again asked for more. . . I was already unhappy with the service, but though I again put more tip . . . I told the owner about service, but no reaction from him . . . So really unhappy . . . I will never go to Chutneys again . . .

I was here this past week night after quite some time for the buffet. I must say, I had a good experience here in the past which probably led me to go again. Buffet really did not had much options except for dosas. One time I went for refill there was nothing available. They have a weird white miniature container for sambhar. By the time I got back to my table I probably would have spilled some on the carpet. I would rather order something from the menu next time. They use to be good, not anymore in my opinion. If you are craving South Indian, Turmerican in Novi is a better option in my opinion.

This was my favorite restaurant but not any more :(. I visited this restaurant with my family. Food was good but service was terrible. We had to ask three times for small things. Waiter was making face like he is tired and wanted us to hurry up.We were not happy with service so we decided not to leave tip. This was not the end...... The owner was rude just for $5 tip. We paid the bill and went out of this restaurant, Chutneys owner came out to us and asked for tip very rudely. I will never visit this restaurant again. This was the worst experience I ever had.

Came here for dinner buffet on a Thursday. Terrible experience. Most of the dishes were empty and stayed empty. Eventhough they were trying to re-fill, pace was not enough to keep up. People were literally waiting for food to come, in a line. And, the restaurant was not even half full. The dishes were no where close to have the same taste we had in past when ordered from menu. Overall it was not even worth the half of $12 charged per person!! Please do NOT come here for buffet! Go somewhere else and have a better experience and food!!

Went on Wednesday 04/06/2016 at 7:30 pm. They had this Dinner buffet where they proudly say they serve different Dosa. Their claim is True that they serve Dosas but that didnt come to your plates. They prepare 10-11 dosas and people will stand infront of the Food counters & will grab as much as possible in their plate so if you are the last one in the queue then forget about Dosas. And this cycle repeats everytime. They should IMMEDIATELY close this Dinner buffet.

Good far a casual lunch or dinner. Food 4/5: Food tasted authentic south Indian. Dinner haf buffet, the highlight is the variety of Sodas that were served with great Chutneys and Udpi style Sambar. Service 4/5: The service crew was very few, may be due to the fact that its a weekday but they were quick and courteous. Ambience 3/5: We visited on a weekday, it was very quiet with Tvs screening Indian serials and Cricket. Would have preferred soothing Indian music

Very good Indian food. I enjoyed every single time. Tasty food at a reasonable cost. Even their buffet is decent. Dont miss their DOSAs. I went to their weekend buffet. All vegetarian and have really good spread. Their idlys are very well prepared and their chutneys are very good for their namesake. They serve dosas and naans in the Buffet. South Indian dishes are very delicious. Service is very good as well as the ambiance. Will definitely go back.

We ordered idli Manchurian nd it was hard like stone. We asked for ketchup nd they gave it when we had almost finished eating the Manchurian. The way they served was bad as they just kept on the table without smiling nd good gesture. We asked for Pan ice cream (was listed on todays special) but it was surely only as the ice cream had frost. It had turned into ice nd quality was bad. We had a bad experience, surely not going back there.

I love this place. Our family often visits for Wed/Thru Dosa buffets. It doesnt end up with Dosa but has 5-6 extra special dishes. Not too crowed, I can find a table for sure. After dinner I buy counter sweets, pickles and other snacks that are close to authentic. The reason for 4 starts is Dosas a small and thin and need to wait until they get refilled. Al-a-crate dosas are far better.

Indian Vegetarian Food !! Its around Farmington And if looking for Vegetarian Food, you can try these: Turmerican & Chutneys ~Chutneys~ Dont judge and expect that it will have great ambiance and interiors, Its Simple!! I was there for Dinner and the Buffet was good. I personally liked it and Enjoyed it !! They should upgrade their arrangements, can have better buffet & Menu items
