Avoid at all cost. 3 tiny pieces of Fish very very greasy it fish would of been good if it wasnt for the grease not being dried off fish properly ... French fries burned.. Soup was sour and. Cliam chowder rotten... I am not friends with these people. Or get police discount. So I am not on here kissing butts. The smelt was cut in half. All you taste is breading on the smelt And way over price to have been served paper plates and wax paper to go. I always wounder why this is my second time around in the after noon after 1 p.m, still no customers. Im suprise the place not closed from no business. Cole slaw taste old also... Never again. I dont care if they been same location since 1980... The food still nasty. P.s I see nothing but family and friends leaving reviews. That area is African American area in the hood. Everbody leaving comments are white... I wounder why... Reviews not from blacks in neighborhood... Hmmm family and friends 45.00 wasted.. Dnt take your pictures down now .. After I leave my review.

Scotty Simpsons Fish N Chips is a local icon! It has been in the same location for nearly Sixty years. My mother used to go to this place when she was a girl. Ive been going to this place as long as I can remember (Im 42). You have to understand that our old neighborhood is unsafe. I mean that, this neighborhood is not safe after dark. With one exception, Scotty Simpsons. Some days you can go in there and be seated with 10 of Detroits finest and 10 of the meanest looking bikers youve ever seen. But when youre at Scottys everyone is civil. The interior has a seen better days. From the historic nicotine stained celling tiles to stuffed perch on the wall this place has it all! Anyone who wants to experience what Detroit has become and youre in one of the BEST Fish n Chips in the city you should try Scottys

Voted Best Fish Detroit every year for decades Scotty Simpsons is a very friendly restaurant with the best fish (and chips) Ive had anywhere -- ever. In fact, there isnt an items on the menu that I havent liked, and Ive tried most. The frog legs are fantastic if you are in the mood for something different, and dont miss the shrimp either. And if you want his excellent, super fresh fish (cod), but without the batter and deep frying, just get it grilled. Tons of flavor, and that fish is still the same, perfect, delicious fish Ive enjoyed over the years. Add Scottys to your list.

My first time back to Scottys since I was a kid. 30+ years! I had their famous fish but Im sure anything fried here is fantastic as the batter is light and crispy and the fish is big & flakey while perfectly perfectly cooked. Serving feels small but it filled me up along with the giant delicious dinner rolls from the bakery a few miles away. Highly recommend although it is on a intimidating area of Detroit so be aware of that. This place has a very long following crowd and is always at least fairly busy. Its easily the best fish Ive had.

Superb Fish and Chips. The fish is wild caught Cod and delivered fresh daily. (Never frozen) The fish is also available baked with a process close to poached. The flavor surpasses all others. The French Fries are hand cut on site. A baked potato is available. The Clam Chowder is very fresh and flavorful. This is a must do place. It is almost an hour drive for me to go there. I happily do it and bring friends and family, all are impressed. This place deserves and continues to live up to their many awards for " Best Fish"

I love fish and chips. Ive eaten at places that were considered good, Scottys takes Fish & Chips to a new level. When I say there the best in the world I mean it. They use fresh fish, fresh fries, fresh tarter, and fresh coleslaw. Another thing I like about this place, is the service. Harry the owner, nicest guy in the world and his daughter who also works there super nice like her dad. All the employees are genuinely nice. I have to say this is my favorite restaurant.

This is the ONLY place in town to get fish and chips! All other places pale by comparison. The fish is so fresh and the batter so thin and crispy that it melts in your mouth. Ive been enjoying Scottys fish and chips since I was 9 years old, and it just gets better. The staff are unfailingly upbeat, and the atmosphere is very relaxed. Hooray for Scottys!

The food is great, but the portion sizes are something else entirely. All three dinners had 1 substantial piece sitting on the top of two much smaller pieces. Insult to injury, the smaller pieces were delicious fried batter wrapped around what was mostly air. Three pieces contained about 1 1/2 actual pieces of fish. Great food, marginal value.

Definitely the best Scotty Simpsons fish and chips Ive ever had! Food truck at Fishermans Wharf with outdoor seating. Parking is almost non-existent. Scotty Simpsons fish and Chips ($11) and Shrimp and Chips ($12) was enough to feed 4 girls for lunch! Not too greasy and batter was light and crisp! Baja sauce cost additional but well worth it.

This place is a dump! But, the fish is AMAZING! You should really consider getting investors to help you move from the slums to downtown! Youll greatly increase business and your following. I know theres sentimental value to the first location but there comes a time when you need to leave your old roots and sprout new ones.

David Brandt is an idiot. Scottys Fish is the best in the world. Ive heard people at Scottys say their fish is better then Scotland or England. Ive been coming here for almost 4 years, I have never once felt unsafe or had anything ever happened to me. The owner and the employees are super super nice.

I love this place! The food here is always fresh and the french fries are to die for. You cant go wrong with the traditional best seller of fish and chips. However there are so many other menu options to choose from. Everything that I have ordered from here has been delicious. They deserve 10 stars!!!

David Brandt is an Ann Arbor complainer. Look at all of his reviews, 1 star. What a demanding complaining cuff link he is. This place is great, but the neighborhood isnt. What a revelation from a professed racist. I hope that you like the devil when you die, cuz you gonna meet him son.

Wow, seriously the best fish n chips Ive had in my whole life. Smelt and shrimp were great too but when I got to that fish I thought I went to heaven - nothing even compares. Great friendly staff. Place busy but food came quick. Many happy faces at Scotty Simpsons! Ill be back.
