Do you ever go to a place and just get overwhelmed? I went here tonight with a friend before a show at the Power Center. I dont live in Ann Arbor. What a sensory overload!! Here are a few things that make this restaurant five stars: 1. Ambiance - Very beautiful 2. Servers are well trained (plates removed quickly, refills very often, great suggestions of wine pairings, but if a wine bar didnt do that, they wouldnt be a wine bar, right?) 3. The food is very high-end, but not ridiculously pretentious or off the rocker. 4. Every glass of wine can be poured half, meaning you can try more varieties of wine, without breaking the bank. We were able to sample 5 different drinks (champagne, a white, 2 reds, and a dessert wine) whereas at most restaurants I limit myself to 1 or 2 for obvious reasons (financial, as well as blood/alcohol content). 5. Every entree on the menu can be made into a half entree. Again, you can enjoy more selection, while paying less. (In this case, we ordered 2 appetizers instead of 1, and each a 1/2 entree, plus dessert, rather than a full entree and no dessert). The chef is CREATIVE! 6. The menu is seasonal, so it changes 4 times per year. I absolutely love a local/seasonal style restaurant. Its an experience...it really is. Will definitely be going back.

Wonderful food, wine, deserts, and atmosphere. I come here often because this is by far my favorite restaurant around town. Dishes are often bold with lots of different flavors, so picky/low variety eaters should not waste this restaurants time. The menu is eclectic with fusion cuisine and not stereotypical like most other restaurants in the Main Street area. They try tremendously to cater to individual needs and to make their customers happy. Best (nitrogen) milkshakes around, but difficult for the staff to make (at tableside) during high-volume rushes so they limited the milkshake menu during these times. The menu is seasonal and usually everything changes, which I wish wasnt the case for some of their previous dishes ("no goose" - a duck dish, and the ribeye cap were the best dishes Ive ever had). Currently their falafel encrusted tuna is my favorite dish. The half portion dishes are very reasonably priced and a good quantity of food comes out, making sharing dishes (and the bill) very nice. My only complaint is that sometimes the waitstaff have been slow on things like refilling water/coffee, and some seats are better than others in regards to atmospheric experience.

My Husband and I got married at Vinology on November 28th, 2014. There were a small number of attendees, around 45ppl. We opted to reserve the entire lower level. We really did not expect it to be as wonderful as it was. The venue was absolutely perfect! Beautiful for photos and very romantic! We brought in some candles for the isle but even that was not necessary because the space is beautiful as is. The best part of this wedding planning process was working with Mike, the manager. He was so attentive, had great energy, and knew exactly would would look great in photos. The entire process was made stress-less because Mike had a plan for everything. The food was not your typically wedding food, it was amazing (people are still talking about it). They work within your budget and there were only happy surprises at the end of the night when we paid. I literally did not have to worry about anything, EVERYTHING was taken care off. Thank you so much Mike for making our day that much more memorable and incredible! I definitely recommend this Venue to all you brides shopping around for a beautiful venue- stop looking! Vinology was amazing.

Update 12/20/13** We had our wedding there on 12/14/13 and we couldnt have been happier with the food and staff. Everyone who worked our event was professional and made our wedding and reception enjoyable. Very accommodating to last minute details! I know there were other staff that werent directly involved with our party that still helped out as they were walking by. The food was amazing and they were able to provide so many choices. Even for our Vegan friends! I cannot talk this place up enough. Outstanding! Will was our server and he was very attentive and knowledgeable about the wines, drinks, and menu. We met the mamagers/owners. Apparently its a family business. The food was above expectations. The mini burgers, brick chicken, and halibut were all prepared perfectly and were delicious. The half portions were the perfect size. I you have to have the long island tea and mojito. We were visiting to look at having our wedding there and feel that it is the perfect place. They took great care of us for a simple dinner and we feel confident about our upcoming reception getting the same care and attention.

Normally, we like the food and the wine. During happy hour, the pizza and wine selection is both inexpensive and delicious. Tonight, however, we decided to go because we were back in the U.S. briefly (between Nicaragua and Romania) and it was 30 mins before they closed. When we got there, the kitchen was closed and it was last call. We put in an order for a carafe of wine. The waiter came back, embarrassed, and told us that they had actually closed early because business was slow and they didnt have the wine we wanted. He offered to give us the small amount they had left on the house. We said "thanks" but we wanted to order something else. He said we couldnt because they were closed. Meanwhile, the bartender was still making drinks for the people at the bar. We left and went to Arbor Brewing, which had decent wine for the same price, great food, and a much more welcoming atmosphere.

When we entered the warm and inviting restaurant they had just opened so there was a lot of staff members moving about. After a few minutes we were escorted to an extremely comfortable booth. After sitting down we were greeted by our server Julie and she educated us about the menu as it was our first visit. To our suprise on a Saturday they even had happy hour. Happy hour is from 4-6 and all wines are 1/2 priced and a few bar munchies are half priced too. We ordered the Zolo Malbec and paired it with their veggie flatbread pizza which was tasty. Then we shared a second glass of wine a Petite Syrah. The bill was less then $20 and we had a relaxing and enjoyable hour. We already can not wait to return. If you have never been you should treat yourself this Holiday at least to the Happy hour to get acquainted.

Vinology strives to be a foodie destination but like most similar restaurants in the Ann Arbor area, doesnt quite deliver. The New American menu is inventive & changes frequently. I had the Kentucky Fried Bunny in the lead up to Easter, which was cute, and also the best dish we tried that night. The wedge salad appeared on the menu after a Top Chef episode aired featuring a challenge make a dish with iceberg lettuce, but Vinologys take failed to excite. The dishes were more imaginative than flavorful; most were strongly over-seasoned. One of 3 scallops was sandy. When we brought it up, management apologized, citing a busy kitchen, and comped it. Service was friendly but not proactive; I had to ask for new flatwear and plates.

I sat outside, so I can not speak to the atmosphere. But, my appetizer, a Gorgonzola and fig flatbread, featured arugula, and the same store bought dried cherries youd find in the baking section piled onto a burnt crust. Im not knocking the quality of ingredients, its just these specific ingredients didnt balance well. The original cocktail I ordered tasted like watered down whiskey and bitter fruit. It was garnished with blackberries, which were themselves ineditible. Disappointing considering the place was highly recommended. Not worth a second try given the great experiences Ive had at nearby restaurants. The one upside was the service.
