This is best-kept secret of Ann Arbors north side, but judging by lunch crowd, enough locals know about this yummy place to keep them plenty busy. I have been eating here for years, and it is always a pleasure when the owner, Jinan Elkhatib, and her family recognize and greet us, and make US feel like family. The lunch special is a great value. Ill bet that you will have food left over to take home. I recommend the green beans with garlic and tomato, and the zesty lemon potato salad. My son loves the Ozee, a unique and delicious savory pastry filled with rice, peas and ground lamb, spiced with a touch of cinnamon. Homemade rice pudding is delicious. This is THE place to go for variety of vegetarian and vegan, and non-vegetarian options, you just cant go wrong. All the food is made fresh in the kitchen, and all baked good are made there by hand. Jinan also specializes in beautiful wedding cakes, handmade and decorated with fresh fruit and flowers. Take a look at the bulletin board with photos from her past work. We and all our friends love Syrian Cuisine & Exotic Bakeries.

DO NOT EAT HERE: UNSAFE FOOD HANDLING This place used to be amazing, I loved coming here for lunch close to campus. My last two visits I had a very bad experience, I watched the man behind the counter handle money, prepare food, then go back to handling money without changing his gloves or washing his hands. This is the most basic simple food handling practice WASH YOUR HANDS AND CHANGE YOUR GLOVES. It is very dangerous to handle money then food. I wrote the business only to find out the man doing this is the owner, he wrote me back saying "If you dont like the way I work dont come back." How rude, the email I wrote was sincere and hopeful that they would practice better food handling, but apparently they just dont care if they get people sick. Be careful if you eat here.

Excotic cuisine makes the best middle eastern sandwiches, and this review is coming from a middle eastern person!! Their chicken shawarma is great because they use all white meat (unlike any other middle eastern restaurant), and their falafel is perfect. They also make really good salads and other stuff. Perfect for carry-out.

Lots of different options to combine and try here! Everything is very tasty, but some of the dishes can be too strong or too bland. Definitely worth a stop though! Consider blending something simpler like the rice or bulgar with their other more interesting options to get a balance of flavors.

My absolute favorite place in town. Great food and vibe; extremely vegetarian friendly; authentic traditional Syrian food; very patient staff. Check out their Baghdad tea! Also, dont be fooled by their name....they have bakery products but their food is exquisite.

Very good food, good portions, no nonsense environment. Love having this place as a neighborhood spot, but wish it was cleaner and that the microwave was not used to heat up foods. Love that it is so veg/vegan friendly.

Looks like nothing from the outside -- but inside: authentic, delicious, outstanding flavors. It can be hard to find good Middle Eastern / Mediterranean food, but this is a sure winner.

My favorite place to eat in all of Michigan. The most delicious middle eastern food Ive ever had. I come here for lunch 3-4 times a week and I never get tired of it. Highly recommended!

This is a good lunch spot near north campus. Their portions are generous, and reasonably priced. Personally, my favorite dishes are their cauliflower salad and their okra salad.

This was my go-to place for a quick dinner after work. Delicious middle eastern food. My favorites are the hummus, meat pies, tabouli, fattoush, and rice and lentins (jeddra).

Huge variety of wraps, side dishes, and baked goods. A bit pricy (not terribly) but worth it. Portions are big.
