Recently my husband took me here for our 3rd wedding anniversary. I do valet for my job so I have actually worked at a lot of the restaurants in Worcester but this was the place I wanted to go to the most out of all of them. We made a reservation which wasnt really needed because we went out to eat pretty early (we have 2 children so we are use to going out early). We were asked if we would like to sit on the patio or inside and it was such a nice night why wouldnt we? We were offered three different types of water to chose from which I kind of found amusing (use to going to pubs to eat) The waitress came over and got our drink orders and we placed an appetizer with it. We opted for the fried mozzarella which was amazing. She came over and took our dinner orders. I was told by others before coming to try the heirloom tomato Margarita pizza so that is what I got. It was very tasty and had just the right amount of tomatoes and mozzarella. My husband asked for an suggestion and the waitress gave him one which he decided to try. He had no idea what he ordered but it ended up being some sort of beef on top of an almost potato dumpling pasta. He thought it was great regardless of not knowing what it was going to be. They even asked us if we would like another drink for when our meals came out which I thought was nice because I hate waiting for another drink. After dinner we had the tiramisu. It was so lite and fluffy and the flavor was perfect. We had a great meal and the staff was perfect. It is a little pricey here for us but we do plan on coming back on special occasions. The only thing I would suggust not to sound snobby is that I wish they put their dessert wines on the their wine list and not just their dessert menu. The list was so long that I might have just missed it but I ended up ordering beer because of this. I could has just asked the waitress though. Other than that I love this place and would recommend it to anyone.

My wife and I went out to Via last night for an impromptu date. Being a Monday night it wasnt jammed, so I cant say what its like on a packed Friday, but our service was attentive, informed and pleasant. Booth was perfect, Atmosphere very nice, The menu is narrow but contains a variety of interesting variations that you wont find in more traditional Italian places. So if your after chicken parm, or wonderful homemade fresh pastas covered in meat sauce, better you go to Leos. (which Id easily recommend for that). But if you like figs for instance, one of the items we tried was Vias prosciutto and fig pizza covered with arugula, and it was awesome. So was the fried calamari, light and cooked just right. The wine list was thoughtful and nicely presented. Our waiter offered wine recommendations (on request) and actually suggested two mid- priced options .........plus he provided my wife a tasting of both which is always appreciated. The bottle was nice for the price. All in all, we spent some good money for a light meal, but it was a date.... and the service, ambiance, and interesting menu was worth it. Were definitely returning for more.

Second time to Vias. Not as good as last time around, but still very good experience. Pros: Great looking place, great wine selection, food can be great (see cons) - Grilled Greek Salad - try this! and excellent short ribs, dessert was excellent (they did it up nice for our anniversary) and in general good attention to details. Cons: While our short ribs were amazing the Italian Paella was dry and uninteresting, the waitstaff was very nice but the manager came by and asked how everythigng was but was so unengaging I didnt really want to talk to her - this in great contrast to the manager a few years ago who was awesome - I even remember his name because he introduced himself (Brian, pretty sure, anyway) Oh, and we had fruit flies buzzing us the whole meal and I banged my head on the lamp behind us 4 times.

Via had always been a favorite of mine, but the last few visits I feel that the restaurants menu, service and portions-versus-prices has changed. A small group of friends and I attended during the early holiday season; one of our two waiters was very kind but neither were very attentive. My husband received the wrong order, and one of my friends had ordered a steak and it was cooked incorrectly (he did mention it to the waiter). All of our portions seemed much smaller than our previous visits to the restaurant, and prices were either the same if not higher than before. At the end of the evening, we had a question about the bill to which one of the waiters became irritated and accusatory with our table. Overall, I would be willing to try it one more time as our past experiences were always very good.

We stopped after a show at the Hanover on Sunday. I had a craving for lasagna. I ordered the bolognese version and have been kicking myself for not sending it back. I prefer lasagna when its cut from a large pan, you know, "brick style", but can tolerate the mini-casserole style in a pinch. The latter was served to me that day, and I have to say, it was lousy. Rather than lasagna, this dish was more like a bowl of meat sauce with a few way overcooked noodles mixed in. It was more like a soup. Weve had plenty of good meals at Via, and the rest of our party were pleased with their dinners (I love the grilled Caesar salad!!), but I will make it a point to avoid the lasagna in the future. Service was just OK and I do find many of the dishes overpriced.

Overall, a good experience. We were given a plate of bread and olive oil. It was good, but had the bread been warmed, it would have been great. I had the Suckling Pig. It was good, but I do just as good at home with a pork picnic, slow roasted. We also had the Via Crostini appetizer. Now that was a treat. Plenty for two and very high quality and great presentation. The warmed bread was crusty and tasty. Next time we go, we may just have the appetizers and the gelato for dessert. The service was good. On our first visit a while back, it was more crowded and the food came too fast, barely finished a course when the next came. In Italy, that would never happen. This visit, it was a slow time of day and much more relaxed.

I dont care how fancy it may seem, serving your patrons a whole stalk of romaine lettuce and giving them a knife to cut it up is annoying. I wish this trend would die off faster, its not a great dining experience. Via does this for their Cesar salad. The chicoronas were extremely stale and unfit for eating, I couldnt chew them! The pork and potatoes were delicious, but cold. Overall I dont think their food is very good, and has severe undertones of too much prepwork and not enough fresh cooking. On a lighter note, the location was acceptable. They did go out of their way to make the interior and patio to be welcoming to guests. The staff was either politely friendly, or very nervous and forgetful. Neither of which offended me.
