Dont "hate" anything... It hurts my brain. This place, however, we strongly dislike! The bakery carries items up to 5 or 6 days old (when asked, after having recently purchased, at least they dont lie about or hide this fact). The meat is old (maybe special cuts after approaching the butcher are different? If so, one shouldnt have to await a "consult" for an item that is not past a reasonable date. The milk stocked has to be carefully checked. Ive gotten it home to find its PAST the "sell by" date? The market is also more than over priced. Despite its convenient location, I recommend that Roache Bros be avoided whenever possible. (I barely EVER leave reviews... Maybe if a place really impresses me and I see a place to commend it, I will; but Ive NEVER gone out of my way to share negative things).

I recently moved to Roslindale from the West Coast. Numerous people told me that Roche Brothers had the best meat department and a custom butcher counter in the area. I recently wanted to buy ham but I needed clarification about the distinction between uncured & smoked ham and regular cured and smoked ham, as well as other labeling differences. Neither of the two butchers on duty had any idea of what uncured meant for either ham or bacon and appeared to think it funny that I wanted to know. In fact, they seemed to find it amusing that they didnt know! If you need to ask, you shouldnt buy it seemed to be their attitude. This is not what I expect or have experienced in a good butcher or meat department on either coast.

I absolutely love roaches! Not so much for the prices because there a little to high, but for the employees . Rosa the manager is the most kindest lady. My 3 year old looks for her ever time we shop, and rose pays attention to her. Weve built a relationship over time. When we walk in we feel like we run into family. Bruna ( not sure if thats spelled right) is also amazing. Always walks up to us to say hello and we purposely go through to her register because my 3 year old daughter likes to help hand bruna the groceries. This Roche brothers is where we shop and feel welcomed. Also always has what I need in stock which is a huge plus

Better prices than most of what youll find locally, especially when it comes to sales and their generic brands. A small store but relatively well stocked for its size. Their staff is top notch and definitely a reason to come here over any other grocery in the area. Always have enough baggers. Baggers are always happy to walk you out to your car. The big downside of this store is the parking lot, which is too small, and theres nowhere to store your cart when youre done with it. It can get quite crowded at the end of the day and on weekends.

I would describe the to-go food as overwhelming. There are more options here for to-go food than anywhere else in DTX. I didnt try them, because I was there for groceries. They will have almost everything that you need here--I went with a full list and left with 90% of the things that I needed--and stop and shop didnt even have everything! Not as expensive as I thought for downtown. Line moved fast, and had a screen to tell you where to go, which is good because otherwise it would be hard to see who is open for checkout.

Family owned, pleasant market with live carolers during the holidays. No other market has the same family oriented model that they do. Lots of fresh local options, and they started selling beer/wine which is convenient to get all your shopping done in one place. However, I removed 1 star because they are lacking many options in the health/beauty aisle compared to other supermarkets in the area.

A city supermarket, almost always busy. Produce section seems to struggle to provide consistent quality. Easy to return poor quality produce, but I wish I didnt have to as often (e.g. wilted boxed salad, rancid pepitas, tasteless, possibly frozen, strawberries). Generally well stocked and dependable for most groceries, though.

One time my mom left all her paid groceries in aa shopping cart and drove away. She came back, and found that the store attendant found it and kept it for her, and waited for her to get back. Roche brothers is really good. Nice groceries, fresh fruit, a bit pricey, but itd west roxbury, so everythings kind of pricey.

Stumbled on this Roche Brothers while out doing another errand. Saved me a half hour driving out of my way. Clean store with good-sized parking lot - especially for location in center of West Roxbury. Pleasant and helpful staff and a good selection of items made it the perfect choice.

I would say they have a lot of choices in different departments. Not the cheapest store for grocery shopping. This one kind of expensive compare to Star Market for instance, but here you can find a lot of organic food, snacks, sauces like dressing and different marinades.

Small store with huge produce, prepared foods and meat/seafood departments. They always have enough cashiers on where the line isnt too bad but it can be quite expensive when compared to other supermarkets. Also, the parking lot is an absolutely terrible design

Always clean. Sometimes can be tough parking or getting thru traffic to get there but worth it. There is an eating area inside buffet style of cooked foods to choose from always delicious . baggers will assist with bundles very knowledgeable meats personal

Solid grocery store but nothing to write home about. Good selection, occasional sales, but usually a bit pricey. Maybe if they stopped putting price stickers on every last item in the store they could save some money and pass it along to their customers.

I love Roche Bros. It is my go to grocery store. They have a wide variety of foods and the person ellen are very responsive if there is something youd like to see. Finally, this business is SO supportive of our community!

Better than most all the regional chains. Employees are great, if not the best I have encountered for being friendly, helpful. Produce is good, second only to Whole Foods. Selection is very good. Shop here all the time.

Bike friendly, decent range of goods though short on organic options. Carries wine and beer but Im not a fan of the wine buyers choices. Store is clean, staff is friendly, and the parking lot is large enough.

I dont really go here because of the way customers look at me in such a way ... like they have never seen my kind before or disgusted that Im here but their employees are nice and the store is well put together

They always have a meat that is quality and affordable. Their wine steward is very knowledge and helpful. Their floral department is extensive and they carry wonderful Papyrus greeting cards.
