Being originally from the West Coast where really good Mexican food seems to be around every corner, every previous attempt at finding good Mexican in the Boston area has been completely disappointing - until I tried Trinis. Over the past 15 years Ive tried them all, including every Mexican and Tex-Mex restaurant reviewed by The Globe. They all tasted like (1) Taco Bell on a plate, (2) Bland, chain restaurant-style, or (3) Everything on the menu tasted the same to each other - tacos tasted the same as enchiladas, which tasted the same as carnitas, etc. Trinis location in a food court in a mall (!), belies how wonderful their food really is. Their tamales are among the best Ive ever, ever had. And theres something special about it being a "one of" - patronizing a family-owned business when it seems as though gigantic chains rule the masses feels good. Chalk one up for the little guy, right?

Good News | Bad News I love Chipolte but I do have a bone to pick. First the good. The burritos always taste good and lord knows they stuff em good and you certainly get a good amount of food! Staff id great and knows how to move a line quickly. Now the bad. Its now been about the last 4 or 5 burritos Ive gotten there. They completely fall apart when I get about a third to halfway through them. Its so automatic that I now just grab a fork before I even get started because I know that 6-8 bites in, Im gonna need it. Also, with the steak burrito, I think they would be better if the steak were shredded and not cubed. And on this last one, about 5 of those cubes were just fat. Yuk!!! But back to the burritos breaking up all the time, maybe you guys should just use larger tortillas or something. Whats the point in ordering a burrito if Im going to need a fork for half of it?

I showed up at around 9:15pm, and they were out of rice. OUT OF RICE?! "No worries," they assured me, "well have rice in 5 minutes if you dont mind waiting." Well I dont mind waiting so I sat around for a bit. One of the employees came up to me, apologized for the inconvenience, and offered me a free drink. Another 5 minutes go by and that same employee gives me a card for a free chips & guac AND a BOGO burrito card. At this point they totally made up for waiting, but to take it a step further when I finally went to pay for my meal (after only 7ish minutes) they said it was on the house. ON THE HOUSE! So all in all I waited for maybe 10 minutes start to finish and I got a free drink, free meal AND the two gift cards. These guys are amazing and have forever earned my Chipotle loyalty.

The past three times Ive ordered ahead, Ive walked into a completely empty restaurant five minutes after my order time hits. Each of these times, Ive seen the employees standing around talking, yet my order remained unmade. If it was busy, thats totally cool, take care of the people who are waiting in line, but its ultra annoying for an empty restaurant to ignore an online order for thirty-plus minutes out of what appears to be sheer laziness. Cmon guys, youre better than this.

The staff is usually great!! I bit into a rock from food I purchased there once [rock was bean sized and assumed was missed when evaluating beans] and the staff replaced my food without questions. The staff there has always been great. The other day I got to the office when I realized I was charged for what I did not purchase. I assume that it is an error but things like that make me check everything done [leaving me out of my comfort zone]

On multiple occasions, I would come in an hour or two before posted closing hours, and they would either lock their doors, or serve food with an attitude and half the ingredients already put away. Not the cleanest place either.
