Overall pretty disappointed with this whole experience. We reserved a party for 7 yesterday, which you think the restaurant would take notice of a larger party, but when we called to make reservations, both the men on the phone were slightly rude, put us on hold for more than 10 minutes and had to confirm way too many times what time we wanted and how many would be in our party to the point where it was just ridiculous. We had dinner there tonight and my husband was horribly sick at the restaurant right after eating their risotto with scallops. Given that it was Mothers Day and we were with my family, we didnt want to make a big fuss at the restaurant itself, but we called less than 15 minutes later once we were home to inform them of this (to hopefully save others from getting sick). The manager completely stuttered and had no idea what to do to make the situation better. No apology. No offer to comp our meal or anything, he was just all thumbs. He asked us so many questions to confirm our identity Im assuming (who was our server, what were the last four digits on our card, what was our order total, what was the name on the card, etc) it was kind of proposterous. He told us he would call us later with a resolution and he didnt. I wanted to like this place, I did. But I just cant. Please take food poisoning seriously, as its serious for your customers who had to suffer. UPDATE: Later last night we were told they were struggling to refund my card as they "couldnt find the receipt". We spoke with a different manager this evening, Marty, who became aggressive, then told us we should have taken my husband to the ER last night and had his stomach pumped and the contents analyzed. Seriously!? Not even an apology, nothing. STAAAAAY AWAYYYY! Dropped over $450 on food there last night and they seriously cant refund the $30 worth of food that was THROWN UP INSTANTLY within 5 minutes of eating. Learn to run a restaurant. Its much easier to keep your customers happy after an incident like this than to blame them and piss them off.

I have been here before and had a good experience, however, last night we were there for our Anniversary and it was terrible. The place was pretty empty for a Friday night, which is a bad sign. The first problem was my husband ordered a beer, but the waiter brought a different beer stating they were out of the one he wanted, so instead of coming back to the table and asking what my husband would like instead, he just brought what the bartender recommended. My husband enjoys trying different beer, and the one he brought is one he does not like. To be polite, he drank it anyway... then he ordered another beer, but that one was out as well. It was frustrating.. the waiter obviously did not know the beer menu. The next issue was the speed of service. We were there for a leisurely dinner. Usually folks complain about slow service. This was ridiculous, our app came out like 5 minutes after ordering, and our dinner shortly after they cleared the plates. We were done with our "night out" in less than an hour. I felt like it was fast food. We both ordered the duck with grilled peaches. The sauce was bland. Usually with peaches, there is a little "kick" to the sauce, but nothing. The spring vegetable risotto was also very bland and looked like they had used frozen vegetables. The duck was not sliced thin, it was in huge chunks (poor presentation) and there was a shriveled leg with no meat on my husbands plate. It looked like it had already been desimated then recooked. When we pointed it out to the waiter, he said something about the duck confit coming from a bag? They offered us a free dessert, which we did not want. We probably wont go back, which is a shame because this place has a cute atmostphere and used to be bussling and pretty good. Not sure what happened, but I wish I had read the recent reviews before we chose this for a special occasion. We were disappointed that our annual anniversary dinner was such a lackluster experience.

below is a letter my husband wrote and sent to the manager. we got no response, even when we followed up with a second letter. William Bradley Food & Beverage Director/Executive Chef Incontro Restaurant & Lounge 860 West Central Street Franklin, MA 02038 Dear Mr. Bradley: In mid-February, my wife and two of her friends spent the afternoon dining at Incontro. They came back to the house raving about the experience. The service and the taste and even the presentation were terrific (though I could only account personally for the taste, courtesy of a doggy bag). Delighted that we had discovered a “Boston quality” restaurant tucked away in Franklin, my wife and I immediately invited my parents in from the city to dine with us at your restaurant. On March 4, at around 1:00, we sat down for brunch, stomachs growling. The service was prompt and friendly, and the atmosphere spot on. Unfortunately, the food was a big disappointment. My father’s Cobb salad was sloppily presented—the assorted steak “tidbits” (they looked like leftover pieces) were dumped in a haphazard pile—and the avocado was mottled with black spots. My wife had recommended the dish to him, because hers had been so good at her former visit, but this version embarrassed her. My French toast was still soggy with egg, and the bananas that filled it were tough and fibrous (they seemed like unripened plantains). I alerted the waitress, who took my dish away, but no manager ever appeared to apologize. Additionally, I was forced to share the rest of my family’s food on a tiny bread-plate—the waitress didn’t think to offer a larger plate. I should say that the leek and potato pizza was tasty, and my wife enjoyed her rigatoni, but all in all it was a genuinely disappointing experience. We are accustomed to the higher prices of Boston restaurants, but we expected Incontro to mimic the quality and service of those establishments as well. Sincerely, DAB

We made a reservation for 5:30. When we arrived at 5:15 there were not many people seated. But still we were handed a pager and told to go upstairs to the lounge. The page went off in about 5 minutes, go figure. Seating was bad, especially where we made a reservation. The waiter was slow, rude and condescending. When we gave our order, my wife ordered the duck, then he said "For you sir?" Important, he never said how long the meals would take, I placed my order. He disappeared. After 15 minutes we asked for our meal and said two minutes. Then he disappeared. We finally got him 15 minutes later and my wife said it has been a half hour, he said "Its only been 28 minutes" Really? Come on now. He knew the time from when the ticket was entered to the time he was standing there! We ended up in argument with him. He then said duck took 25 minutes and that he told us. He didnt. My wife said she would not have ordered it if it took that long. He then said, regarding the 25 minutes "I thought everyone knew that". Now hes being insulting. I reminded him that after 15 minutes he said it would be 2 more minutes. How can that be if it takes 25 minutes to cook? BTW, duck takes about 3 hours to cook. He said he would get the manager. Another waitstaff stopped by to ask what was going on, our waiter came back; guess what, no manager. No apologies, no comp, no nothing. We were looking forward to this evening, then it totally was ruined. Couldnt wait to get out of there. Seems as if there are a lot of average to poor reviews on this place. Food wasnt bad. Wine by the glass was expensive. Not much parking after 6:00; you need to use the valet service.
