Disgusting service. Keep in mind there was only two other small tables of people, so this was not due to rush. We were a big group but we did no order that much. We waited, waited then waited some more. They brought us a chicken appetizer, then we waited more. When we questioned them about it, they took another 15 minutes to bring some basic courses. When we ordered an item again, they took a long time to get that too, and when questioned, they claimed they gave it too us already which they didnt. They even took a long time to bring the check. They wasted my time for mediocre food. Save yourself, and skip over this restaurant as I had the worst restaurant experience here. Also, avoid this place to avoid potential disease, the amount of oil in their food is nauseating. Also noticed a few flies coincidentally hovering around the food. They took us an hour to get a glass of WATER. Did I already mention that the food was just mediocre? If it takes you an hour and a half to make the food, it better be good, but it still disappointed. Even the people in my group that usually dont care and see the other side of the story were infuriated by this outright repulsive service. This restaurant is a disgrace to the Indian culture and cuisine and should go out of business. If you cant even make some simple dishes that literally require you to heat up some curry on time, you shouldnt be operating a restaurant. Manager clearly didnt know what the **** he was doing. This was supposed to be a celebration for a holiday tradition, and instead our whole day was screwed over by this restaurants staff and food. Everyone wanted to go home, and we went home tired and repulsed. Do not be fooled by the fine dining look this restaurant has, you can find much better food with less wait time. Just interviewed multiple grown adults that were with me, and there were common lines: the service was bad, horrible, disgusting, whatever, the bottom line was that this experience was horrible and would not wish it on anyone. Please like this so more people can see this review and this restaurant can be exposed. If you want the worst restaurant experience ever, I strongly suggest you check out Dharani Grill!

We love Indian food and eat it all the time. We realize there is serious competition with the incumbent Curry House, which attempts to cater to a somewhat more urban crowd. However the minimal difference in quality of the Dharani Grill simply does not justify the significant difference in cost. Just five weeks into opening, the food lacked the depth and complexity one traditionally expects from Indian food. In fact this is one of the main reasons for ordering it in the first place. The dishes we had were unbalanced. They were far too very heavily salted and made with what appeared to be very heavy creme - rich to the point where it was somewhat difficult to consume. Dishes like Chicken Tikka Masala are Indian staples, and one assumes they will be at least on par or better than most others. But in this case ours was honestly no better than something you might get in the frozen foods aisle. The location - a place where many a business has turned over during the two decades we have lived here - still has the same limitations in parking and access. The location also sits on the gateway to the older part of Franklin, which, history tells us, is far more willing to venture into the Rome for cardboard pizza and Miller beer than pursue an upper scale dining experience across the street. The owners might have expected they would end up catering to the local Dean population, but this middling school with its largely commuter class, is unlikely to spend the sort of money Dharani demands per dish. I would state that the service was impeccable, but as we were the only party present (no one came into the empty restaurant the entire time we were there), this goes without saying. Although we remain hopeful this restaurant will prevail where so many others have not, our first experience does not provide much in the way of justification. Hence our party left expecting the Dharani Grill would likely follow other attempts into the annals of Downtown Franklin history and end up closing shop within the year ... alas.

First of all the good points. Have tried a lot of Indian restaurents in new england and thus definetly had the best ambiance amoung all. There is enough spacing between tables which is rare to find in any indian restaurents here. The menu had decent choices which is from all parts of south India. Mysore dosa we had came with some masala, sambar and 2 chutneys. Dosa was average. Chutneys tasted good but it was very cold which definetly tells its was coming from fridge. When you are ordering a biryani, be sure of mentioning the correct spice level you want. We ordered a medium spiced biryani which turned out to be very spicy one. The biryani pot was very hot, which made me wonder if the biryani was microwaved with the pot. The funny thing that happened was the family in next table was complaining throughout that the naan they got tasted like a frozen naan. Not a right person to comment on that since I didnt eat naan, but mentioning here since i feel they should have a relook on the naan they serve.
