Today I order a meal that was absolutely terrible. They do not know how to make a traditional meal. I have eaten at 100s of restaurants across the US and its easy for me to tell which ones are okay and great. This restaurant receives a 0 out of 5. I began with the Samosas. Terrible, uncooked, and outside shell was not crispy at all. I started the entree, Kadhai Paneer. The cheese cubes were hard and not complementing the rest of the meal. Not enough buttery sauce and onions and green pepper was cut like you would placing them on a hamburger. I gave up with the entree, and stepped into the naan selection. Again, disappointing. This is the most basic item at a indian restaurant and the naan was terrible. I finally ended with the Gulab Jamen. Hard balls, and the sugar juice didnt have a chance to soak into the Jamen. Im not sure how people can appreciate this place. I figure most of there customer base is people that dont know any better and or new customer base each visit. If you would like to challenge this place and eat somewhere better...try Curry Leaf in Framingham, MA. I have eaten here many times and i can easily say..the food is nothing short of excellent. Its cheaper and the quality of food you will love. I hate to complain about restaurants, but this experience was very bad. I came home hungry to a meal i spent $32 on. This review was well deserved and should be taken seriously. If not....you will experience my loss!

I dine out a lot, and I can honestly say that the Tandoori Grill is the most awful restaurant Ive ever been to. I went there for their lunch buffet, which not only had very few options, but was also very poor quality. Upon my first bite of a boneless chicken dish, I was gifted with a rather large hunk of bone and RAW chicken. I also found several other bones, as did the person I was eating with. I decided to try a vegetarian dish next - which was nothing more than watery tomato sauce and frozen peas - and found a hair. I finally tried to go with the safest bet - the tandoori chiken - which was completely dried out. They also had mislabeled these bland donut-shaped fried things with a sign that boasted pakkora. The kicker was the bill, which came out to be around $12 a person, when there is a halfway decent Chinese buffet next door for $8. I would never recommend this place to anyone I know, unless I hated them. If youre looking for GOOD Indian food, Id definitely try either Monsoon in Maynard or India Cafe in Worcester, where there is a way bigger selection, and astronomically better food. Trust me, the extra 20 minute drive is worth it.

The food is good however, howvever the waiter was very rude. I ordered takeout online one hour before picking it up and it was not ready when I arrived. The waiter completely ignored me for several minutes before asking me with, with his back turned to me, "Name?" I asked if I could order a drink while I waited and was brushed off. My wife and I sat down at one of the rear tables. The waiter told us to get up and go sit in a chairs crammed in the back corner. We stood up and waited another 10 minutes while the waiter rang up checks, walked into the kitchen 3 times and setup new tables. It was not busy. Three quarters of the tables were empty. The owner came out and I explained to him how the waiter been rude and that I was still waiting on a beer. He asked me to sit down and if I wanted a water or soda. I declined. The waiter eventually came over and asked what I wanted. I told him, "well, 20 minutes ago, I asked for a beer, but now I do not want anything." He proceed to argue with me that it was because the restaurant was full. We walked out. I will never go back. Bollywood in Shrewsbuy has amazing food and the staff is very friendly.

I guess I am a regular customer, even though I do not live in the area. I stop in every time I pass by on business, so I will tell you what I like: Tandoori Grill does a good job on their curries, from korma to vindaloo. The flavors are complex, with sweetness, spice, and heat arriving to your palate separately. Someone in the kitchen knows what they are doing! The meats and vegetables retain their individual flavors and textures well. I am a particular fan of the fish curries, where the swordfish, scallops, or shrimp are delightfully prepared and maintain their individuality in the face of very potent sauces. If I pass by on a weekend night, I always have the buffet. I am not a vegetarian, so I dovnot order just vegetable curries when dining alone, and the buffet gives me the opportunity to supplement one or two basic meat curries with several vegetable dishes- something I could not do ala carte. The buffet is a great value. I have read the other reviews here and I am puzzled that they are either 5 or 1 star. I have never had a bad meal at the Tandoori Grill.

I feel I need to write this review just to defend this place. If it matters, I am an Indian. My experience has mostly been with the weekend buffet .. but lets just say its very often. The food in general is good. at 11 dollars it is not the cheapest buffet but not the most expensive either. They attempt to make the food not too oily.. for Indian buffet standard. They usually have 1 chicken gravy, 2 types of Tandoori and a couple vegetarian dishes. They almost always have Kadhi with Pakori. The food tastes fresh. The food is not too spicy and some might find it lacking the zing. And per "Indian Buffet Desert Rule No 1" they have kheer for desert. It tastes decent. I have never gone to their dinner buffet which at 22 dollars in my opinion is idiotic. I have heard that they do have lamb in the dinner buffet which is one thing I am very found of and really wish they served during the weekend lunch buffets. If you live in Marlborough I would suggest trying the place atleast once. 4 stars because no lamb!

Family of five, ordered a la carte for dinner. Food was very good, creative and varied flavors. Service was fairly attentive and friendly. When the bill arrived, I thought $138 was a bit high. The bill itself was obscurely itemized, like a hardware store receipt. I inquired of the waiter whether the tip were included. He looked over nonchalantly "let me see, oh yes" --pointing to $18.95, toward the bottom of the tally-- "right here". Fine, I thought; I normally leave ~20% when food and service are good, but I dont want to double tip. He took my card, and magically, when he returned with the credit card receipt to sign, the total had grown to $148. Easily could have given restaurant five stars, but the waiters short-sighted, selfish and dishonest antics to rip off a happy and would be loyal customer does himself and the restaurant a great disservice! I said nothing, but it makes me pause before going back!

I travel a lot, almost every week and make it a point to eat at an Indian Restaurant once every trip. Inspite of reading other bad reviews, I chose to try this place as I was staying close to this place this time. They didnt have Dinner Buffet for some reason and I ordered for Chilli Paneer and Garlic Naan. The Naan was good but the Paneer wasnt cooked. It was as though they heated some frozen sauce and added some paneer pieces. And they charge separate for the rice, while at most restaurants rice comes with the entree. The waiter, I guess probably the manager didnt have any courtesy to check if I need anything and simply disappeared in the back and came back after 30 minutes with a check for $24.00. And when I complained about the food, simply had to say thats how they cook it. For half the cost, you could get a much better tasting food in cambridge/Framingham-Waltham area.
