I had just spent a few hours reading and researching in Books-A-Million and since it was raining & I was hungry I decided to try Chicken Rico, which is located only a few feet away. Ive passed the spot many times driving down 301 and if memory serves me Id also heard someone mention it a time or two in passing. On a Sunday evening there werent many patrons inside....Id say 3 or 4 customers. I waited a few minutes before it was my turn to order. Now I dont claim to speak or read fluent Español and as I was struggling a bit to pronounce the name of a dish I wanted (chicken with rice & mashed potatoes, minutes the French Fries) the attendant immediately garnered an attitude with me. Maybe I was frustrating her or taking too long, but her impatience in a nearly empty restaurant didnt sit too well with me. Once I had ordered she gave me a number and told me to pay up front at the register. After I paid, I waited about 10 minutes before my food was ready. The sweet young man that works there was kind enough to bring it over to me. When I arrived home I was disappointed with my choice. My chicken & rice were dry (even after pouring the delicious sauces on top) and the mashed potatoes were runny. I tossed over half of it in the trash. Waku Chicken, which is right up the road in Brandywine is better, by leaps and bounds. Maybe I was there on an off day, but considering I know where to find better, consistent Peruvian food, this place has already been forgotten.

After reading all of the reviews I must be served a different type of chicken, I was so happy when Chicken Rico opened because I was tired of driving to Pollo Rico in VA. After trying Chicken Rico twice I said I would never go back because the chicken was not as flavorful as I had it at Pollo Rico but I went again (third times) today because I was in the shopping center and hungry. The chicken was tender, skin crisp but flavorless, I could have that same chicken at Boston Chicken; I was so freaking disappointed again; I will not make that mistake again. Especially, when I could just drive five minutes away to Tastee Chicken in Smallwood, their roasted chicken is as I remembered it and had it. Its tender, hot, juicy, full of favors; and favors that are uniquely Peruvian roasted chicken.

Me and my family visits this place I know at least 5 to 7 times a month. One of the servers was trying to be helpful and accommodate me because they were out of a few items that I wanted, but the young lady at the register was so insisted that I be charge for the side that the nice guy put in trying to be helpful. Me and my family will be limiting our visits and Ill be spreading the word. Customer Service is a must!

Food is great. BUT If you are a girl/woman age 15-30, going into this place is uncomfortable. Youre stared at by all the men in the kitchen. And then if you decide to eat there, face away from the kitchen area.. Or else youre going to look up mid-meal and see them staring at you again. Guys that work there will be smoking at the back door sometimes and theyll whistle at you. Its ridiculous.

Im generally not a huge fan of chicken but I stopped in here since it was right next to my hotel and I was too tired to go searching for food. What I ended up with was a fantastic meal and Id be happy to eat here any day. The week I was here I spent far more at other restaurants but none of those meals came close to this. Do yourself a favor and stop in here.

Food was amazing! I had the fried fish with cilantro rice and fried yuca. The boyfriend had the lomo saltado. We also had the papa relleno which was different but also tasty. Staff were very accommodating and friendly over all. The place was pretty busy even a half hour before closing time.

i ordered half chicken with side and drink for dine-in. i ate half of my food when a roach out of no where fell in my food. threw the food away. i didnt think it was a big deal untill i woke up in the middle of the night and started vomating. wouldnt recommend it

The only fast-food peruvian restaurant Ive ever been to. The Lomo Saltado was very good and their rotisserie chicken was perfectly cooked, not at all dry. Rum cake is also amazing. I wish I had a place like this close to were Id live, Id be there everyday.

Been there twice. First time was a half chicken with two sides to go. Total of 3 minutes and I was paid and out the door with some moist and well seasoned chicken. Delicious. Second time was a chicken and steak sandwich with steak fries. Very tasty.

This place is the best place to eat. If you love chicken you, should definitely eat their food. It is delicious and the food is very high quality. Stop eating Mcdonalds, Burger King, or Checkers and start eating Chicken Rico

Great place, excellent pricing, its all just so good. Definitely a healthier option for fast food. And I actually think its less salty than certain other chicken restaurants in the DMV area.
