I am torn between 2 and 3 stars on this experience. I will go with 3 since the restaurant appeared super clean. I am not sure where the other raters are eating fried chicken but there are better places out there (i.e., Chicken Basket in Wheaton). The biggest difference is getting your chicken from a warming tray versus having it fried to order. This place has the former, so the chicken is not as hot as it should be. I am not sure who is cutting up the chicken, but the wings have at least a quarter of breast meat still on them. This may be an effort to give more meat. Wing eaters generally do not want extra dry breast meat hanging on their wing drumstick. This is not a good thing. I would also rethink the side options. Just stick with the coleslaw and potato wedges. Basically disappointing.

Two new words for your downtown DC dining vocabulary: Chicken Box (n) - an amazing, delicious little box of freshly fried chicken in tasty sauce, paired with side dishes of your choice. Atmosphere - I love the decor. The tables are smartly arranged to maximize space and the restaurant is well lit. Staff - The one woman who was working here was not very polite. It was a Friday evening (6pm) and the place was nearly empty. Food - You can have chicken any way you want it. Its going to be delicious. Value - For 9 dollars its a solid amount of food. They throw in rice for free and have a free water cooler. Suggested dishes: I had the citrus honey chicken with a side of cole slaw and cornbread. It was very good.

Thank God I didnt go to Chipotle (which I love dearly). I was on my way to Chipotle when this place caught my eye. The name was catchy, so I gave it a shot. Their menu is a dazzling array of flavors that make your imagination go wild. After trying it, the food exceeds the expectation. Plus, its healthy! Their sauces are light and tangy, not thick and sugary. Tonton Chicken is such a creative break from the usual food, I wish there was one close to my house. I could seriously eat there every day.

Affordable prices and decent portions. Be prepared to wait 15-20 minutes for the Chicken Party Wings though. I would definitely recommend getting the Sweet Garlic Sauce. Also, what kinda irk me was they opened an hour later than stated and closed earlier than stated. So their operating time was somewhat like 12pm-8pm. Maybe it was just my luck both times. Oh well.... Have a good meal.

Horrible! The chicken was greasy and was obvious that it was left over from the previous day. Potato wedges were cold and you literally only get 4 or 5. The cole slaw was soupy also...never again! Today I was desperate to try something close to my job and different. Worst $10 I have spent lately. Stick with what you know!!! :-(

Very different inside feel from the outside signs. Surprisingly clean, and the baked chicken was great! You cant quite get a meat and 3 here, but its as close as you can get in the area. My only issue was that the side sauces could have been better. Reasonable prices. If youre worried - give it a try! Im glad I did.

Tonton Chicken doesnt have much in the way of decor, but thats not why you come here - you come here for the best fried chicken in downtown DC. The chicken boxes and bone-in fried chicken are the BOMB. I recommend the #19 Sriracha chicken box with the peanut coleslaw and chayote pickled salad. Yum!

Im a fan of Tonton chicken. Affordable prices and decent portions. I still felt hungry afterwards but it was really good. I recommend the yellow chicken. It may sound weird but it taste delicious. Comes with one side

Impressed with the chicken but very disappointed with the selection of sides. Price was ok but I would revisit only if there wasnt other choices around.
