Very good barbecue here at Black Hog. Not a huge menu but they have everything that barbecue places should have. Beer in bottles and cans. And meat. Lots and lots of meat. I opted for the ribs (wet) and one meat, selecting the Carolina chopped pork. The ribs were very tasty and they were definitely wet. A lot of sauce on these, maybe too much? But I scooped off some and that went with the pork, which was maybe a little dry but the sauce perked it up. Good portions of both. For my side, I had the mac & cheese. This was a good portion and it was excellent. I think I got a corner piece from the tray, which I liked. Lots of baked ends and crusty top bits here. Yum! Moist and hot and very cheesy. Corn bread was good and the little bit of cole slaw was also good. We sat outside at the tables on the street. Good care from our waitress.

Just experienced the worst service imaginable at the Urbana location. A simple mix up between our waitress and I resulted in another waitress literally snatching the food (brisket) off my tray while making one of the most snarky, condescending comments in the process. My wife, kids and I couldnt believe it. Had to ask for carry out containers so we could eat our meals elsewhere. We gave this place a second chance so after this latest experience we will never be going back.

Good BBQ with a good table selection of sauces and good service. The dinning area is a bit cramped and noisy, but they do have a few large tables that fit together in a long row for a large group. Its a bit confusing for the first time eat-in visitor if you order at the counter or the table. If nobody is standing inside the door to greet you, the natural thing is to walk up to the counter, but if you are eating in they will seat you and then take your order.

Will never understand the good reviews for this establishment. Ive been to all 3 in the area, and the only decent one is downtown Frederick. But after visiting this location, Ill never go back to any of them. Food is WAY overpriced for the portion sizes, and what you do get doesnt taste that good anyway. This is no reflection on the staff, they were excellent. But the food is simply terrible. Im sorry, it just is.

USUALLY ONE OF OUR FAVORITES... TONIGHT WAS TOLD THEY WOULD NOT SELL 1 POUND OF PORK BBQ... HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS IT IS ON YOUR MENU AND THIS WAS JUST PART OF A LARGE ORDER I HAVE A LARGE FAMILY TO FEED... DONT THINK ILL BE BACK.. NO ANSWER AS TO WHY THEY WOULDNT SELL IT JUST THAT THEY WOULDNT... IF YOUR OUT ITS ONE THING BUT THAT WAS NOT THE CASE..... THIS IS VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Good service and a nice little place. Overall, the food was good. The brisket slices were tender and flavorful, had a nice smoke ring, but a little dry. The ribs were very good. The pulled pork was moist, but lacked flavor, including not much smoke flavor. Nice selection of BBQ sauces at the table. I do recommend it. Pretty good for Maryland BBQ. I will go back and try other items on the menu.

The food was excellent! Nice soft brisket and the pulled pork shoulder was perfectly prepared and just understated enough to take on any flavour direction you chose. The sauce selection was stylistically accurate, Mac and cheese was creamy, the Cole slaw was just right and the greens were freshly done. When you add in the "Amazing Service" we just have to say; "This Place Rocks"!!

If your near Frederick, MD it is worth the drive. Smoked bbq, simple meat, sides, and beers. Cafeteria style with a modern update. Like the decor with the lights hanging above. The picnic tables, makes you feel like your in your backyard, but clean and very good service. My only complaint would have to be they dont offer a smoked chicken/bbq sandwich..

The food was ok. We have been to this location one other time and the one in Frederick multiple times. The food and service is always great. This visit, however, was not the same. The servers were more dedicated to closing down and doing side work (2.5 hours before closing) than serving the customers. Overall not a great experience.

My husband & I love barbecue and try every one we run across. Not at all impressed with Black Hog. The menu reflects barbecue but the flavor does not. The food is brought to you on a tray and our meat was searved in a cardboard bowl. My pulled pork was diced not pulled. Sorry folks but this family will not be returning : (

Went based on the hype and left very underwhelmed. Now the Slaw was amazing and the bean were good. The dry ribs were way over seasoned and the predominate flavor was brown sugar. The double smoked Arkansas brisket lacked any smoke flavor. I have friends that love this joint so maybe I came in on a bad night.

Yummmmmmmmy- Best ribs I ever had and the chicken is fantastic. Never a bad meal here.Must upgrade my review the gumbo is top notch and as good as any I have had down south,also I just discovered the cheese french fries with bits of their famous pork wow what a taste and filling.

This place has great BBQ!!! This has to be one of my favorite places to eat. The only reason I rate this place 4 stars is because of some of the works. They dont talk much and sometimes I notice the servers fight with the chiefs... but they have never been rude to me.

Great food. I would give it a 5 star except I just dont like how jammed the tables are together. Guess when u have a good thing, u need to get folks in and they dont have much room in urbana. Definately will be back. Best wings in town in my opinion.

Im giving this place 5 stars simply for carrying Cheerwine. Oh, the BBQ is excellent too. The dining room is very small - I recommend takeout when they are busy. You could be waiting a while. The beer selection isnt great. Get a Cheerwine instead.

Very nice BBQ. Went on a Monday night and it was quiet as most restaurants on Monday nights. The service was great and the kids loved the Brisquet. I had the pulled Pork and it was great as well.Highly recommend this for casual dinning.

Their food was amazing the fires were well salted and just the right amount of crunchy. The chicken seasoning was very good and paired well with their signature sauce. Definitely recommend if youre looking for a mouth watering meal.

Great experience here. We usually go to another one but they were closed as they renovated to add a bar area. Great waitress. Awesome food. Top notch. We may have to consider going a bit further to go to this location. :)

Good barbecue! Its a little loud and cramped feeling (probably because its always so busy), but the menu is solid, food is consistently delicious, prices are reasonable, and the staff is friendly. You wont leave hungry!

All I can say is "G**damn is that some good food!" The pulled pork is fantastic, 3 meat meal is out of this world, and thats just for starters. I dont think you can choose something bad on the menu. Worth every penny!
