My wife and I went to try this new place out for a late Sunday lunch. The place was not busy and the time (about 2pm). The atmosphere is current, and the menu is decent. Unfortunately, our first visit was marked by slow service, and a beer ordered when we sat down did not arrive until the meal. The beer list is OK, but nothing to rave about since it lacks variety of different styles and regions. Our server was not fully attentive, and seemed annoyed when I inquired when the beer would show up. The individual I assume was the manager (white shirt, but not a chef shirt) was overly focused in catching up with a friend and having a long conversation within immediate earshot of our table than improving or expediting orders; this made having a conversation with my wife more choppy and less intimate. The Juevos Rancheros pizza was good and filling but the French toast my wife ordered while plated great was menial and left her hungry. Pricing we felt was slightly higher than it should have been for the serving size. Ill give this place a shot again, but if the service is the same Ill go somewhere else. As a side note, we did not order coffee. They appear to serve Counter Culture and have a good coffee menu.

I love this place. I had been looking (and waiting) for a place like this for a long time. I work from home a lot, and it can get boring and lonely sometimes, so I would go to Starbucks, or sometimes a bar if I also felt like a beer, to get some work done. The problem is Starbucks is very generic and impersonal, and bars of course can get very loud. But then came Barking Mad Cafe to the rescue. The baristas are very friendly and awesome. There is a good selection of tea and pastries. And if I feel like a beer, I walk over to the bar to visit Chris (best bartender!) for one of their great selection of craft beers. Very important as well to get some work done is wi-fi. Ive never had a slow connection here, even the couple times Ive had to get onto a Google Hangout with my colleagues. Ive also had lunch here a few times and Ive never had a complain. But to be fair, theres nothing here that will blow your mind. Its not a great culinary experience, but Its a good place for lunch or a casual dinner. And I do love the idea of sourcing everything from local farms when possible.

Went here for Tuesday $5 burger and fries special. The food itself was fine, but the service is horrible! We called our order ahead of time thinking the food would be ready when we walked over during our lunch break. When we got there, the order had not been put in and none of the wait staff even acknowledged us. Finally the hostess seated us and put our order in. We had to wait 30 minutes to get 2 burgers! Maybe this was the first week they ran the special, but the staff was not prepared to handle the volume of customers. The final straw came when we got our bill and it was for the full price instead of the $5 special. We told the hostess we specifically asked on the phone if there were any restrictions on the burger special and they said no, you can order any type of burger. So then we had to wait another 5 minutes while the check was being sorted out. The food tastes ok but you may want to stay away until the staff and service is fully trained and they can handle a regular lunch time load.

Really want to like this place and Ive gone back several times but they really need to iron out some details. I guess its still in the forming stages of a new establishment. But for example sometimes the portions are so tiny. Like you get a spoonful of rice with the fish tacos. Its kind of funny. And some portions are huge like the appetizers. Then you order chips and guac and its literally a spoonful of guac. Its a bit insulting because the guac seems diluted even. They have a weird relationship with avocados actually. One day I asked for a side of avocado for my baby to eat and got a few slices for ......$5. anyways . The pizza aint all that either. Its like store quality . Brunch was good however and I love their beer selection and outside patio. The place has potential and could become a favorite if they really put some effort into developing a solid image, use good ingredients, and dont skimp people on things like avocado and rice.

Took my finance for brunch on December 11 for his birthday. Both breakfast pizzas arrived without the bacon we ordered and both were burned black. Very politely voiced my concerns to the waitress and she brought plates of bacon after we were practically done eating. Worst meal I ever ate and ruined a birthday morning out. I worked in the restaurant business for years. Both cook and waitress at fault for sending burned food to the table. Also, if you get an order wrong, you should make amends. When a customer leaves most of their burned food on their plate, someone should pay attention. I am not the kind of person to make a scene so I just e-mailed the contact address on their website that says they want to hear from customers. No response. Was interested in taking my dog in the summer but wont be back. The menu had promise but the poor management is obvious.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! Hostess went to seat us right next to another occupied table when there was only three occupied tables in the whole restaurant> when we asked to sit at another table, hostess rolled her eyes, huffed and proceeded to move us the another table right next to another occupied table> we then pointed out a table that we would like to sit at, a young man which I could only assume was the manager, over hearing our conversation, said, "do you want to sit here?" we said yes he responded " I guess thats fine as he gave us a dirty look. We decided at that point to leave because if the service was this bad walking in the door, we were sure it would just get worse.

Food was delicious and came out in a good amount of time. However, our server, Apolinar, was extremely rude. He ignored us for the first 20 minutes after he had brought us our water. After, when we asked the hostess where he was, he came over to us and spoke rudely to us, blaming us and creating excuses for why he didnt come over. Our food was brought out by other servers & he avoided all eye contact until after the manager brought us our check. Long story short, our stomachs were happy, but the service we received doesnt make any of us want to return.

Barking Mad Cafe is a pretty cool cafe. They serve coffee, beer, baked goods, and brunch items. The coffee is great, but they charge an extra $.50 for iced drinks. The burger with mushrooms was delicious. My only complaint was that there was a little too much sauce with the sauteed mushrooms. It kept dripping out on to my hands making it to eat the burger. It also could have a little more mushrooms in it. They also have outdoor seating. Last time I went, there was a band playing on the pavilion.
