My husband and I were excited to try this Iconic place and came with an open mind. Sadly we did not have a good experience here. The unfriendly waitress slapped down our food less than a minute later (I am not exaggerating here) after taking our order. The food was cold and they got my husband’s food wrong. They fixed that but not the cold food issue. I guess their warmers were not heated up yet, because it definitely was not cooked to order. I found the food gross and highly priced, with a wait staff that was unfriendly even though we try to speak to her in a friendly manor. They served Meat that was mostly fatty with gristle and potatoes that were from a box. I was sad to leave knowing I would never come back. Even if they don’t fix the food quality, they should at least fix the cold food issue and unfriendly wait staff attitude. I do not think the original proprietor served such poor examples of food and genuinely seemed to show a love for what she did. It’s sad when an even a visitor to the area we can see that this place is a shadow of its former glory.

My wife and I were going through Wellsboro a couple of years ago and decided to stop in at the Wellsboro Diner when we passed it on our way through this very quaint little town. The ambiance was middle America , after all, its a diner. The food was wonderful, portions were ample and if you wanted to add something to your plate that wasnt part of the order, they accomodated without any problem. We were welcomed to the establishment and we were asked to come back when we left. Since that time, we always stop in to the diner whenever we are in Wellsboro, which is at least every month. I noticed some rather harsh reviews and I wonder what is behind them as we are completely satisfied by our dining experience every time we eat there. If you want french cuisine and top rated servers in starched livery, you wont find it at this diner. But you will find friendly staff and good food. After all, its just a diner. BTW, the diner is an old railcar diner built in 1938 and its got some history. DLS

Was up visiting my grandmother who has recently moved to the area. She said we "must" eat here before I leave yo go back home. Im soo happy we did. Food was very tasty and fresh. I found staff very friendly for a diner and food is made right in front of you right after you order. Price were fine. Two pancakes, two eggs, and two bacon for 7 bucks, thats not bad. I love diner look and feel. They even have bigger section downstairs for larger parties and things to buy. Definitely will be stopping back, only complaint is parking is a pain but worth it!

Hubby and I visited this diner after riding our bikes on the Rail Trail for 26 miles. We were HUNGRY! This is a small place but the tables turn over quickly. We were able to sit down within mintues of arriving. We found the prices a bit high for a diner but when we received our portions, we understood the price. The portions were huge! The food is simple "home cooking" style. Nothing fancy about this place. We enjoyed our rost beef and fried chicken. Dessert was wonderful! The waitress was attentive and friendly. We would go back here.

My wife & I ate here, I cannot recommend this place. The food was not very good, and I would have health care concerns. We sat where I had a view of the slicer, there were layers of leftover meat chips where they had sliced meat during the day for dinners. It looks like it was there from early in the afternoon, and it was around 7:00pm when we had dinner there. So if was piled up that high, I can only image the amount of bad bacteria on the slicer blade. Prices were extremely high, will never go back.

This is not a tourist trap, although tourists will find it very enjoyable. The food is top notch diner food, if you like pot roast, real burgers and in general, home made food with lots of real gravy to go with it! I drive for an hour and a half just to visit there several times a year. You wont be disappointed, despite what you may hear from other sources, if you like good old fashioned diner food. Its one of the treasures of Pennsylvania diner lore.

After eating here at least once/twice/year for the past 20 years or so I can honestly say it’s not the same anymore. The prices are way too high for such low quality food. $11 for a hot roast beef sandwich with no flavor? Never again, after our last trip there this past October I can say we’ll never go back. We love the diner itself, and the staff seemed nice, but we’re not interested in getting fleeced.

Easy to find on a busy street corner, the Wells Boro diner has a classic diner feel. The food is mainstream: egg-centric breakfast although a popular item is chipped beef gravy served over fried potatoes & toast. Lunch is the burgers and sandwiches for. Friendly staff. The diner has no parking lot. You have to use the grocery store lot around the corner.

Grew up in this small town so I spent a fair share of my time popping in and out over the years. For the most part, when people ask, I recommend them for breakfast food. Love their big pancakes; it gives you a nostalgia for old diners. But its in dire need of a little TLC and updating. With a little work I think it would draw in even more people.

I am only giving 1 star, because there isnt a 0. We visited today, and for starters, the French Fries were cold. The prices of the food was VERY over priced for the portion sizes that was provided. For example..for a toasted cheese sandwich with french fries was $8.00 Staff was friendly and meals were ready fast, but we will NOT be going back.

The food was very delicious and the portion sizes were generous. The restaurant was clean and the service quality was about average. They have quite a few delicious desserts to choose from including specialty pies and giant cookies. The menu is small, but they offer all day breakfast, burgers, sandwiches, and traditional dinners.

6 of us stopped in here for lunch on our way down to TN from Upstate NY. We all sat at the counter and Justin, who is the cook waited on us. The food was fantastic, service was great and the overall experience was very good. You definitely want to save room for dessert. The pies are all homemade.
