I got married at Carriage House in June of this year. It was wonderful. The ballroom is beautiful. The food was fantastic and everything was extremely affordable. However if you choose this venue and dont have a wedding planner or someone helping you with all the little details you might want to think twice. You will get very little help from their event coordinator. It is very difficult to get in touch with her regarding your questions and when you do they will not be fully answered. There was very little correspondence or direction for her. Youre pretty much on your own. She did not even show up for the rehearsal when she told me she would. I hate to think how my wedding wouldve turned out had I not had the help I did from my planner.

There are plenty of good reasons to enjoy The Carriage House for lunch or dinner. Their food is prepared well and the service is excellent. Food servers are very attentive to patrons as well as prompt.I particularly enjoy their seafood chowder, their stuffed shrimp and their bountiful salads. Food is reasonably priced for the quality of entrees offered. The atmosphere of the facility is historic and offers period decorum. Their Sunday buffets are excellent on the second floor (easily accessible by elevators for those needing access.) In summary, The Carriage House is a real find and worth the extra miles for those who must travel there.

If I could give a lower score I would, my husband and I had gone here as we were told what an amazing place it was. Went there for our anniversary and the wait staff was horrible, dirty, and extremely slow, some came after us got his food finished and left before we got our meals and our food was cold. I attempted multiple times to speak with the restaurant about the poor service and food and no response. Horrible, may look pretty on the outside but be prepared for what you get on the inside.

I am currently at my wifes Grandpas 80th birthday party. We were just served by far the only dish that can put him in his grave if he tried it. Our cheap cheap cut of Salmon was highly over cooked to the point it was white. Just bland potatoes, blah vegetables, and a neon glowing hollandaise sauce that is noticably from a packet. To top it off...literally.. parsley just thrown on it like F it... tried my M.I.L filet... sad piece of meat.

easter 2014 out of lamb, sweet tea, pie, cake. DRY roast beef they couldnt slice, cafeteria style ham soaking in salty broth. toasted bread at dip table was so hard we couldnt break it at all couldnt eat it. actual left there hungry paid $26.99 a person. i cant believe they had the balls to charge full price for an empty buffet. NEVER again it was bad last year but we thought give them another chance total $118 plus $25 tip wasted.

***** 5 STARS! This is one of the most wonderful restaurants I have ever been in! I would not expect this level of culinary perfection outside the big city, but here it is, right in "downtown" Emmitsburg, MD. This fabulous restaurant is not but 20 minutes from Gettysburg, and rivals the Farnsworth House for ambience and bests them in quality of food, which is hard to do. (Youll miss the pewter plates though.)

Was there this past Saturday. Felt very uncomfortable by the conversations I heard from the waitress complaining about customers. Felt like they just do not care about the customers. My food was cold. My side of vegetables were bland. Seems like there is lack of creativity and costumer service. This used to be my favorite place to eat, now not so much.

It was an okay place. The staff was amazing, very friendly, attentive and polite. The food was okay. You get very small portions for a very high dollar. My food was not cooked properly. It is good for an experience if you have the money to eat there. We ate elsewhere right after since portions were so small and it was so expensive.

From DC and I expected more. The side of vegetable textured butter paired fairly well with the flavorless lump meat. The bread I think was just a super market frozen dinner roll. I did like the staff. They were nice. If you have your grandparents, they might really like it but I just had expectations. Disappointed.

We stopped here for lunch with the kids on a long road trip and it was perfect. Good food, fast service, really nice staff, extremely affordable and a nice history lesson to boot. Why anyone would ever go to a fast food restaurant when there are places like this available right off the highway is beyond me!

Ive been here for the Sunday brunch as well as a wedding tasting. Both times the food was very good. I like the atmosphere of the large upstarts room with the wooden beams. Parking is a bit limited and it can get busy for the brunch.

Food and everything is good but overall experience could be better for the price. I recommend looking up the Dobbin House in Gettysburg and getting the most for your dollar
