HORRIBLE!!!!! Not even worth 1 star. Just to emphasize my disappointment, its Mothers Day today but Ive escaped from family just to write this review. My son just moved to the Baltimore county area from Laurel. He asked if I wanted to go out to eat after church or order in, I chose to order take out and since I had a craving for Nigerian food today, we researched the area and found Lawfem was open from 3pm today. We waited till they opened and I called in my order. First of all, a child/young person (smart Alec) answered the phone but I did not mind too much since I figured the food would make up for it. My son spent almost $50 buying Jollof rice and Egusi soup. I could not eat the food because the rice was bland, the meat (I asked for chicken but pretty sure they gave turkey), the plantain was literally watery, the food DID NOT taste fresh. I called at 3pmish so I mustve been the first customer. Now for the Egusi, it was sour-tasting...very awful. I now believe they warmed up left over food and served it because both meals tasted old and sour. Just to be fair, I had others around me taste both meals and they all had to spit the food out of their mouths. So much for my Mothers Day meal. Thank you Lawfem and Happy Mothers Day to you! Im a writer and news media anchor, best believe I will be spreading the word about this restaurant.

I am an African born in America. I really want to connect with my African roots. As such, I am beginning to try all things African, i.e., clothes, food, relationships etcetera. So, getting to the point of why I am writing this review, I am ecstatic I had the chance to discover the Lawfem Restaurant. I enjoyed myself immensely. The cuisine I ordered, was served to me just the way I like it, hot with respect to temperature and with respect to spices. It was delicious. The end result was that my palates were satisfied thoroughly. As a matter of fact, I am starving and my palates need satisfaction right now. Thats right! You guessed correctly, you genius ! I am on my way there now !

Pls pls when you have to order amala,just ask if its fresh....cooked that same day or not. Went there for the first time with my hubby,the amala we ordered was definitely not fresh. It had old taste and sour. You can tell that it was just either dip in hot water (to make it look fresh) or in microwave. The stew /efo also had sour taste. We both ended up in the toilet after few hours of eating. ....terrible taste.

First time going there and the lady at the counter was very nice and informative about the food. I ordered the egasui soup with fish and my wife ordered a spinach dish with fish. The food was excellent. This is real african food. The food was fresh, cooked to serve and seasoned perfectly. This will definitely be my go to spot for African food.

The food was ideal. You dont need to order a lot to get satisfied by their dishes. One dish is enough to satisfy you and it packed with good African flavor and nutrients. Definitely gonna give this a try again!
