I called the Imperial China Chinese Restaurant tonight and asked if deliveries were available. I got the reply "Yes, deliveries are available" in a clearly stressed voice. I then asked for a specific type of food from their menu. The reply I got from the employee was shocking - The employee told me, and I quote, "This aint a food, you moron", mocking/imitating my Asian accent and the stereotype that Asians are bad at the English language. Furthermore, the employee answering the call then said "Call yo mama.", still mocking my Asian accent in a highly disrespectful manner. The employee then hung up. I then called them again and asked if they did deliveries - A different employee was answering my call. He said that yes, deliveries were available. I was telling him what I would like when he also exclaimed "Yo, this aint a delivery place no more.", and hung up. 1/10. Would definitely not eat.

My friend and I particularly enjoy Asian food, so we decided to give this place a try. First impressions count, right? We arrived at around 6pm. The manageress, a seemingly uptight woman greeted us indifferently when we entered. She didnt smile or seem in the least interested in us and we were ushered to a booth. The waitress was pleasant enough but kept offering us drinks after we had already told her that we were happy with the tea and ice water. The seats were lumpy and uncomfortable. We ordered steamed meat dumplings, shrimp with cashews and sweet and sour pork. The food was mediocre at best and definitely not real Chinese fair. During our meal one of the waiters started vacuuming which was the last straw. We left, very disappointed... We will not eat there again! Upon leaving, the manageress was too busy on her calculator to even say goodbye and thank you. Not recommended.

Do you love good Chinese food? Keep on looking! We have never been so disappointed with a Chinese restaurant. We just spent $45 on take out only to be disappointed, smelt less than acceptable to even feed the foods to the dogs, threw 95% (seriously) of it out (fortune cookies were good 5%), pork & beef just "wasnt right", fried apps tasted like they had been sitting for a 1/2 decade, the packets of duck sauce were insulting. Called the restaurant to express our dismay with dinner. They took no responsibility and barely offered to give us a store credit after transferring us twice, YUK no thanks, stay away!!! ~Brian (Chia Sen blows door on this s*** hole!)

I never write reviews. With that said, I had to write in and try to soften a horrible review writen below. I will agree that the service could be warmer. But we have been going to Imperial Chine for years and know that if smiled at, all the staff melt into a huge smile themselves. The food is wonderful and worth the "simple" service, as I like to call it. To top it off, for 6 bucks you get an amazing lunch of soup, dinner and rice. You wont walk away hungry! Smile and you will be smiled at Mr/Mrs. Grumpy Pants! AKA What a Pity :OP

If I could give a negative star I would. Ordered a Pu Pu platter for one.... and poo poo is what I got!. Watered down pork spare ribs, uncooked egg roll, and gummy chicken fingers... put together a leaky food BAG with no duck sause and a hand full of soy sause, no utensils. All that placed in a nice unsuspecting brown bag stapled shut with a menu attached. I called them up to tell them about it, and all the lady had to say was "Thank you for your suggestion." Here is my suggestion: DONT ORDER FROM IMPERIAL CHINA

Absolutely disgusting. Ordered "Crispy" sesame chicken, chicken wings, brown & white rice to go. Chicken was literally swimming in sauce like a soup. The breading was super soggy and falling off the chicken. Only the top few were remotely edible. The chicken wings were also super soggy and didnt look as if it was quality meat. White rice was undercooked and crunchy. The brown rice inedible and had to be spit out. Portions were large is just about the only good thing I have to say about it.

This food was so disgusting, it should be closed down. We ordered take out, but I should have just walked out when the smell upon entering was so foul. But, no, we ordered a huge assortment, and when we got home with it, it was inedible. We tried 5 different dishes, and although two didnt taste good, the other three tasted like, well, rotting garbage. Which is where we threw everything to save ourselves what would have been a long night of vomiting. Beyond disgusting.

My wife and family threw me a surprise 50th birthday party at Imperial China and the food was absolutely delicious! This was my first experience with Imperial China. The staff went above and beyond to make my birthday special; right down to providing a candle on the cake and joining in on singing "Happy Birthday"! Our family will recommend this restaurant to all of our friends! Thanks to all at Imperial China! Well be back soon!

Imperial China has excellent lunch specials. You can get an entree with soup for under $6. Their hot & sour soup is the best Ive had anywhere in New England. My favorite entree is the ginger chicken with string beans -- delicious. Avoid the General Tsos Chicken, though... it is always overcooked and almost burnt. Other than that, great little restaurant and a great bargain for lunch.

I dont usually do these reviews, but I saw a few bad reviews and wanted to put forth my experience. We have been customers at Imperial China for about 10 years, and it continues to be our first choice for Chinese food. We come in almost once a week and have always had very courteous service and the food is consistently great. We love the Lo Mein and the Hunan Chicken.

Today was the first time I went to Imperial China and I have to say that the food was absolutely delicious!!! This is now my Chinese restaurant of choice hands down. I truly recommend this place to anyone looking for some really good food. The atmosphere warm warm and the staff was polite and ready to serve us. Loved it!

I wanted to give it 2 stars just because it is Chinese food, but I cannot. The chicken was inedible. The lo mein and rice were below average. My favorite part was the crispy noodles. Overpriced. If you are looking to try a new Chinese food restaurant in the South Portland area, look elsewhere.

This was a great dinner. Thank you very much. I love how you bring out hot tea and ice water right when I arrived. Was a great presentation of your plates. I loved the egg roll, very tasty.. Everything was very surprisingly good. Will definitely come back again in the future.

Been coming here for years and it has never lost its reputation with me for being the best Chinese food in the state of Maine. The food is amazing, the drinks are never watered down, and the service is very fast and friendly!

Great take out, but do yourself a favor and come inside. Enjoy a great meal plated exceptionally well, with great service to boot. Definetly the best Chinese I have had in the greater portland area.

Delicious! I had the crispy sesame chicken. It was crispy and the sauce was good. The fried rice is good with nice chunks of egg. Friendly waiter and the atmosphere is comfortable.
