No stars! We went out here craving indian and had a terrible experience. We love indian food and I have even worked in an indian food restaurant in portland Maine. Upon entering the restaurant smelled of cigarettes. When we asked if someone was smoking inside our waiter told us matter of fact that he had just smoked, but outside. It was unpleasant but we were there for food and were anticipating deliciousness. The waiter was rude and way too casual. His customer service skills were nonexistent. I felt as if I was being served by a teenager who was being forced to wait on us by his parents; but he was a college aged dude. We all ordered lamb dishes. Lamb Masala, Lamb Saag, and Lamb Kebabs as well as naan and samosas. The waiter put our dishes on the table without mentioning what they were and did not put them in front of the correct people, we had to ask what the dishes were. The masala sauce was edible but the lamb was chewy and stringy, too much fat to chew through. The kebabs we not well seasoned, dry and also with a lot of fatty strings. The saag was not the creamy spinach dish one hopes for but rather a too tomatoey version and just not as appetizing as saag can easily be. Again, the meat just seemed to be of poor quality very gamey. I understand how these dishes are made and I could just tell that the food was not at all well composed and no care was taken to make sure that we had a satisfying experience at all. Although we barely touched our food, our waiter quickly took our money and asked no, and even upon mentioning our dissatisfaction nothing was said to us, not even an apology. As we left we wished we could have warned the couple coming in about their choice of restaurant and the coming disappointment. But as this restaurant has gotten good feedback by others we figured that perhaps it is all just a matter of taste, and in my opinion it is severely lacking here.

Worst Indian Restaurant I ever visited ! Service was pathetic. The owner(lady) was very rude and so much uninterested in serving. We ordered an appetizer, Kadai Paneer ,Roti/Chapati, Dal Makhani and Vegetable Biryani. 1)Firstly, she served us Butter Nan(made of All purpose flour) instead of Roti(made of wheat). When we pointed it out, she gave us a weird look and agreed to replace it. After a while she again served us Butter Nan and this time those were burnt. We told her about it and the reply was " Madam, the Nans are done in tandoor, thats the reason they are burned.". We asked her to replace those and bring "Rotis". We waited for nearly 20-25 min and asked them to serve Rotis we requested for. The reply was " Ohh Yeah..I forgot your order". we were completely shocked by the reply. Then she served us Nan(still Nan not Rotis). We were quite sure by then, that we wont be getting Rotis and ate the Nans. 2)Also, we ordered for Dal Makhani(which is traditionally made of Black Urad Dal/Lentil) and the same is written on their menu card, but she served us Yellow Dal/Lentil. 3) Taste of Vegetable Biryani was pathetic. It seemed like the cook had mixed Steam Rice and curry used for vegetable dishes. The vegetables were not properly cooked Would never go there again.

Delicious Indian food in the heart of downtown Bangor. My daughter and I had the buffet, so we got to try several dishes. We both thought the chicken curry was the best of the offerings, although it was all really good. The curry was nice and spicy, with just a little bit of heat to round out the flavor. The chicken and the vegetables were are cooked perfectly, as well. I also especially liked the Channa masala, with chickpeas that were tender in a delicious slightly spicy sauce. To round it all out, we had some of the bhatura (kind of an Indian fry bread) that was flaky on the outside and tender on the inside and completely addicting (I had three!) and some of the pakora that was also really good. I definitely recommend coming to Taste of India when your in the mood for good Indian food!

Worst Indian food experience ever had in United State so far. Service was pathetic. We were the only customer at that time and still they took around 40 min to bring our order. Even after 40 min they forgot lot of things which finally arrived with check. Owner (lady) was so rude and cheap that she refused to give us a proper bill. she just calculate the total roughly on simple paper and include hefty tip also by herself only. She also include the item which we never received. Quality of food was really really pathetic. I would have forgotten everything if the taste was good. Overall Experience: Never ever want to go there again.

The critical reviews are here not indicative of the general quality of the food. I have eaten here many times over a period of years. The food here is very good, and can be authentically seasoned if you request it. Lots of Indian people eat here, too, by the way. Criticisms about salt and ghee are really a little silly, as these are primary ingredients in many types of Indian cooking, so these "experienced" diners may need to exand their knowledge a bit. By all means, go eat here - its great! Try anything that catches your fancy - you will not be disappointed! Service is slow, so dont be in a hurry - enjoy your suroundings.

Worst Indian restaurant ever. The lady that runs this place is a shrew with zero niceties. She is extremely rude and unapologetic. The ambience is anything but pleasant. Very poorly maintained and dirty! The food is below average. They probably served us smelly leftovers for dinner! We placed an order for masala tea and what we really got to have was a watery flavorless potion served in dirty cup and saucer! My plea to the locals and tourists alike is- please do not eat here! Would be happy to see them closing this shoddy business soon!

Worst experience since the last 6 years. Worst service, worst food (stale and smelly). The lady there is a fraud and we caught her cheating on us while preparing the bill - wrong tip and tax. Looks like its a usual thing for her. She would prepare the bill on the POS and instead of printed receipts she would give hand-written calculations on a piece of paper. Choose any place over this and avoid an unpleasant experience. Its very unfortunate for the Indians food lovers.

One of the worst service and food quality there is. Avoid this at any cost, they literally forced us to have Buffet instead of ordering from menu even when we insisted, im sure the menu food would not have been any better regardless. When we complained about the quality of food and service to the lady who was managing she was extremely rude but finally cleared our tab and we didnt have to pay a penny. It was still waste of our 20 mins we spent there.

I have never given a bad review for any business...but this place changed it all...the food was smelly, raw and so distasteful and damn expensive! I wish I had read the reviews before going there...I do not want to hurt anyones business, but this needs to be told, as the food served is really bad and no one deserves such bad food after a long travel...I ate there more than a week ago, but still cannot forget the horror!

I eat Indian food all over, including Boston, New York City, Montreal, and even Bombay, India...and I have to say...this is some of the best Indian food I have ever had. They have a wide variety of dishes, and always give me tremendous care in accommodating my dietary restrictions (no dairy). I am grateful that this restaurant exists in my hometown...and I eat there at least twice a week! Enjoy!
