Ive only eaten there about 3 times and that was a long time ago but as I recall the food and service was very good. I would just like to point out that because its a Japanese Restaurant doesnt mean its all about Sushi. There seems to be a stereotype that Sushi is all that Japanese people eat so people miss out on a delicious meal. You can order chicken, pork, and beef meals at Ichiban as well as tasty veggies, rice, and noodles. What I liked is that it wasnt oily and it was very flavorful. I recommend giving it a try.

Ive been to a lot of Japanese restautants in Maine, particularly the Bangor area, and this is the worst one so far. I went there because I saw the other reviews saying that it was fantastic but when I got my food (chicken katsu, umeboshi roll, spicy tuna roll) it was very mediocre. The chicken was dry and the crust was falling off. The umeboshi tasted old and the spicy tuna was very bland. I was very disappointed and wouldnt recommend it.

This is for sure the BEST place for sushi in the Bangor area. The setting is quaint and unassuming, the staff attentive and the food amazing. The Tiger is my favorite roll and their Japanese Egg Rolls (veggie rolls) with chili sauce are the best Ive ever had. I was very unimpressed with the other sushi restaurants in the area when I moved here, but Ichiban more than makes up for the rest!

I have had tried sushi places all over, including Seattle, Boston, and Helsinki. This is still the best sushi Ive ever had. There used to be some issues with slow service, but ever since a few changes were made Ive yet to see those issues return and the sushi seems to be even better.

Ichiban isnt in the best location (Union/Third Street is kind of a rundown area), but the food is great. Its a fairly small restaurant, but Ive never had to wait long for a table. The sushi is fresh, the variety is decent, and the ambience is nice and reserved.

Went for lunch with a friend, it was slow paced, and casual, great for when you want to just relax. What we ordered was great, and the mochi is to die for, my friend has been back just to buy more of it.

Its a Japanese restaurant in a plaza thats Located in 3rd and Union in Bangor, Me. If you like sushi and similar meals. Im not big fan of Sushi. However, its a pleasant atmosphere to dine.

This is my first time here. Has a very good selection, but nothing Ive tried before...and fried rice only comes in a large size....that was one of the best parts of the meal. Big let down.
