Great service, poor food quality. Ive been there twice, and the food is horrible. Having lived overseas and in 4 different states, and having had the best of the best Chinese food, this place is "plastic", smoke and mirrors. Order sesame chicken and you get fried chicken fingers, with gobs of honey and some sesame seeds sprinkled on top. Really? Like raisin canes chicken fingers with honey. NOT even stir fried. Now maybe in Louisiana this is called sesame chicken, but geesss, get real people, not even sauteed and fried in the wok, not dark sauce at all and horrible flavor. Sweet honey chicken maybe, but NOT sesame chicken. This place is a joke, food is served luke warm, and if you ask for assistance they "act" like they can not understand English. Really? Get real Louisiana, learn what REAL Chinese food actually is, and you will never go back and then you can have some validity and credibility to your ratings. Their pictures do not even match the food when ordered, pathetic.

Having lived in China many years we look for really good Chinese food wherever we are and we have found it! The food are fabulously prepared and nothing is oils, all fried foods are light and fresh tasting. They do not use MSG which is a plus as I am sensitive to it. The inside is refreshingly clean and inviting with a friendly staff. Everything is handmade. We had the fried pork dumplings as an appetizer and they tasted so authentic. The fried rice is so delicious and the rice was firm and seperate with a generous amount of sliced chicken. The Won Ton soup was full of homemade broth and full of sliced pork, whole shrimp, Chinese cabbage, carrots and fresh won tons filled with shrimp. For our main we ordered Boneless Chicken and Garlic Chicken, both was of good portions, the wonderful waitress even commented to my husband to be careful that was a lot of food! LOL He ate it all! He loved it. We will be returning, we found our spot!

Being a long time patron of North Island Restaurant that recently closed down, I was happy to hear that they moved to this new location at Golden China Restaurant. I decided to try them out at the new location. I was very disappointed. This location does not compare to the food that we would get at North Island. The food did not taste fresh. Immediately noticed the portions were half that of North Island, extremely skimpy. The rice was dry. Completely different taste from North Island. Apparently they have new cooks. The waiter was very pushy and I couldnt enjoy my meal without her staring at me and coming to my table every five minutes. My sister also had the same experience weeks before. So if you think youre getting food as good as it was at North Island in old Covington, you will disappointed. On a brighter note, the building is really nice.

The food is absolutely DELICIOUS! The egg drop soup was the BEST Ive ever had (and I always order egg drop soup at every Chinese restaurant I go to)! The group I was with all ordered from the combination menu on the back of the menu, it comes with the entree (I had Garlic Shrimp), combination fried rice, egg drop soup, and an egg roll. All of that for $11.99! The portions were huge, the quality of the food was outstanding, very fresh! I had so many shrimp, and they were a really good size! The server was very nice and courteous, and we were also greeted by the owner. I was very impressed, and this will now become my regular chinese food place!

If you havent tried Golden China, and you like quality Chinese food, do yourself a favor and go! The food is delicious, hot, and made to order; my husband got the garlic shrimp and it was so good I was stealing bits from his plate! They also dont skimp on the portions, be prepared for a LOT of food for the price! The service was very helpful and friendly and the restaurant itself was clean and had great ambiance. I highly recommend it and I know we have a favorite new place for Chinese Food!

Outstanding dining experience! Food prepared for you, not a buffet. The soups were very flavorful, the entrees were delicious and portioned well, and there is No MSG! Which is fantastic! The chef was schooled in mainland China, and the staff is very friendly and attentive. If you like good Chinese food you will like this restaurant!

Good food, but messed up my fried rice order and only asked for no onions. They asked if I wanted it to be remade, but I told them I couldnt because I had to be back from lunch soon. So ended up not finishing like 60-70% of my meal and still had to pay the full price. Customer service could be a little better.

I read the reviews before coming here. They deffinently lived up to the acclaim. Very good portions and the flavor was great. Food was fast and tasted fresh. Get the crabmeat Rangoons some of the best Ive had. Thanks for the great meal.

The staff and owner are super friendly. The food is the best Ive found on the Northshore and the pork egg foo young is hands down the best Ive ever had. It is all homemade so dont expect the standard pink sweet and sour sauce.

I had the Mongolian beef, it was wonderful. The veggies were crisp, the sauce was just spicy enough and the beef was good quality. The waitstaff was very friendly and the owner came out to ask how everything was.
