My wife Amy and I went out on a date tonight to Drusilla Seafood Restaurant in Baton Rouge. After a short wait, we were seated by the hostess, who was very cordial. Our waitress brought us each a glass of water and a dish of hushpuppies for the table. I am not a hushpuppy fan, but Amy said they were very good. After looking over the menu, we decided to order the Stuffed Mushrooms as an appetizer. Amy and I both agree that these were quite possibly the best stuffed mushrooms that we had ever tasted. The mushrooms were stuffed with a seafood mixture that included both shrimp and crabmeat. The flavors mingled perfectly; they were excellent! For our entrée we ordered one of the house specialties - "On the Bayou A Taste of Louisiana" to share. This entrée is a sampler that includes Seafood Gumbo, Seafood Eggplant Casserole (acclaimed by Bon Appetit Magazine) shrimp au gratin, fried shrimp, fried catfish, green salad, and french fries. The green salad was served promptly and was good. The blue cheese salad dressing was not too strong and gave the salad a good flavor. I would have preferred to have a few more ingredients in the salad, as it only included lettuce, cabbage, and carrots. Instead of french fries, we substituted a stuffed baked potato, which was a great idea, as the stuffed baked potato was wonderful. The Seafood Gumbo was made with a dark roux and was chock full of seafood and other ingredients including a crabclaw and a bay leaf. Very tasty! The shrimp au gratin was very good as well. The Seafood Eggplant Casserole was fabulous and was probably our favorite part of the sampler, tasting very similar to the stuffing in the stuffed mushrooms. The fried shrimp and the fried catfish were excellent as well. We chose the Choc-A-Holic Delite as our dessert, which was chocolate mousse on a cookie-type crust drizzled with chocolate sauce and topped with whipped topping. It was good, but not as good as I would have expected after such an excellent meal. The service was friendly and our waitress was attentive, bringing extra tartar sauce promptly when I asked. I did have to ask her a couple of times for drink refills, but other than that she did a great job. Overall our experience at Drusilla Seafood Restaurant was excellent. I would rate Drusilla Seafood Restaurant a 4.5 out of 5 stars.

WHAT a disappointment. Went with a group and had reservations. Didnt get our food for 2 hours. The waitress kept passing us up telling us shed be "right with us" as she brought food and drinks to other people. Our orders werent taken for 1&1/2 HOURS after we got there. Meanwhile it was difficult to even get drinks like iced tea and water refilled. I dont know if the bus-boy was supposed to help clear or serve drinks when the waitress was overloaded, but no luck there, and the manager didnt lift a finger to help what was clearly a bad situation except to bring some cocktail sauce once, and he didnt even bother to come apologize to us. By the time our orders were taken everyone was starving. Didnt make for a great celebration / family reunion situation. We were boxing stuff up and she was still saying she was going to be right back to clear some plates - the table was overloaded with them. I dont think a dish was removed the entire time we were there. The food is great, but I will never go there again. I suggest if you have to go there for something you eat ahead of time, because you have no idea how quickly youll get your food, and no one is going to lift a finger to help the waitress thats waiting on ANOTHER large group while other servers are putzing around at their leisure. My husbands T-Bone was burned on one side and raw on the other, but he was so hungry by the time he got it he just ate it anyway. I know the manager knew it was a problem because on the way out one of the servers asked my husband how everything was, and when he told her she said, "Didnt the manager come over and talk to you? I told him there were problems." The dining room was pretty empty the whole time we were there - obviously everyone else knows better than to eat there, but Im from out of town. This is not an inexpensive restaurant - I would expect better. I know they had other parties there, but those require reservations - the manager should have staffed for that. I couldnt believe how bad the service was while I watched other wait staff with nothing to do. Sorry, but EPIC FAIL on this restaurant. Never again. Terribly upset that I made such a bad choice for our family dinner.

Weve lived in Baton Rouge for almost ten years, and have tried many different restaurants here. My honest opinion based on lots of sampling in a true restaurant city is dont bother with Drusillas. The food quality is not impressive, and neither is the value. Among the things Ive tried are the Seafood Eggplant Casserole, an "acclaimed dish," that had very poor taste and texture. For such a high price, one expects something special about the flavor at the very least. If youre going to spend your hard earned money, bring it to Jubans for delicious seafood or The Little Village for steak and eggplant dishes that have achieved fantastic reviews. Restaurants like these, and like Ninos on Bluebonnet, employ seasoned chefs, and have given us memorable, delicious experiences.

This is the most disgusting place I've ever worked. I would never eat here. Thank goodness the patrons can't see that their stuffed baked potatoes are on a shelf 6 inches from the floor in a high traffic area in covered. Not even enclosed. The manager asked me to spray a plate off with warm water, didn't have any soap to offer but since the dishwasher was behind she wanted me to serve another unsuspecting person on a dirty dish. I saw her do this with silverware and I quit! All of the fish on the menu are really drum NOT trout or other good fish as you pay for. I've worked at Many restaurants and have loved my job but this place was not something ever want to be associated with again.

I ate there in the middle of the week about 4pm. Only two other tables occupied. I ordered fish (they said was drum) with etouffee on top. Also stuffed potato and side salad. Slow service finally salad came and was a little dried out, certainly not crisp. The potato looked and tasted like it was left over from lunch and barely warm. Finally the fish came and it was mushy. The Manager said it was a soft fish. To me it was just mushy. Maybe all drum is like that?? I wasnt looking for a reduction in price but he took $3. off the bill. The last time I was there, we had a large group and they were busy. This time clinched it. No more Drusillas for me.

Raw oysters were dry have been sitting out to long. If you like hollandaise dont get any here because they dont know what it is from what I tasted it is yellow thats as close as that got to it. The breading on the sea food was plain no seasoning. The only thing they have going for them is the fries I guess their to hard to screw up. Anyone that calls this Seafood must be from the north. I would not tell anyone about this place. They also dont know the difference between ranch and bleu cheese dressing both were terrible. If you want to seafood this is not the place to go
