This brightly colored pizza joint offers a variety of pizzas at a cute venue near the river with indoor and outdoor seating. Great draft beers, yummy pizza (loved my margherita), good service, and pet friendly. I even bought the T-shirt! I ate the second half of my pizza cold for lunch the next day, and, guess what? Still delicious (the ultimate pizza test: eat it cold the next day). Near the cash register, they sell locally-made products like honey and soap (cant remember, exactly, but its handy if you need to buy a gift or want some local flavor). When you finish eating, you can stroll through historic Covington and visit its small, charming riverside park (George Rogers Clark Park) and read historical plaques to learn about the area.

Been wanting to try the Gruff for sometime now and finally got the chance to try it. Went on a Monday when they have $10 pizzas. It was seat yourself, so we sat at a nice space outside. We waited for nearly an hour before we got any service or gave our order. We even asked if we could be waited on and was still not attend on for 20 minutes. Once at last we did get service our food came out in a timely fashion and they gave us the apps and a beer for free which was a nice gesture. Service was poor but the food is good. Their waffle and pickle fries are great!

This restaurant is within walking distance of our new office (at the river center). We often have our happy hour there. We tried the Margarita pizza and fig/prosciutto pizzas and they were both soo good! They have a great beer selection - although the draft beers are more on the hoppy side. Thursday is 1/2 off bottles of wine is a great deal! There is a nice atmosphere and the servers are all friendly. We have never had any problems with our food. Just make sure you dont sit under the vents in the summer - you will get condensation dripped on you! lol

Been twice. Service was unorganized. Menu is interesting, and good selection of toppings for pizza. But a thin crust medium sized pizza with 4 toppings really shouldnt cost as much as it did, around $18. Beer selection was decent for a place that isnt necessarily a bar. Hard to really pin down what the identity of this place is. A bar? Mini gastropub? Not that you need a concrete identity to work but just curious what the idea behind it is. Love the location if you are going for a run/bike around the city and need a place afterwards.

I was originally going to eat outside because it was beautiful out, but turns out, they have the most personable bartender! Lol so i sat inside and had a great time. The chicken sandwitch was amazing, id even say its better than The Eagles, and i love the Eagles chicken sandwitch! Theres alot more to this place, but those made the biggest impressions on me. You should go there.

They serve some of the best pizza in Kentucky and Ohio! The oven was imported from Italy and it really shows. They have a creative menu using fresh and local ingredients. In addition to the restaurant, The Gruff features a full bar with eight taps and also stocks a variety of specialty items and groceries including milk, eggs, bread, beer, and wine.

We held our rehearsal dinner at The Gruff this past weekend and I cant thank Kristin enough for accommodating our group! The service was fantastic and the food was, of course, exceptional. It made for the perfect evening to kick off a great weekend of celebration! Many thanks to you and all the staff!

Ive had brunch, lunch and dinner here and everything Ive had was fresh and delicious - southern fried chicken with biscuits & gravy and bacon is a brunch must. Patio allows dogs, they have a cute little store inside to pick up local groceries or beer. Great location by the bridge

The food is good, and theyre is a good dessert selection. You can also shop for whiskey here. However, they offer no tea, so if you like tea, dont go here for afternoon teatime. They do have kombucha, but its more overpriced than beer.

If youre a seller of craft beer, your servers should know what they are selling. I had server who didnt know what a budlight to Guinness was or anything in between. Makes it hard when trying to build a flavor profile for a customer.

The pizza was great, the service not so much. Not a place to go if youre looking to hang out a while, more of a quick bite or take out spot. The do have a small liquor store, deli and market inside it. Nice outdoor seating.

Flavorful food, but super damn noisy inside. Do not expect to hold meaningful conversation that isnt at a shouting level. Concrete floor and metal roof, means loud echos for days. Try to eat on their patio outside.

Been here a few times.. love the city chicken... which for those of you who dont know is actually pork. Also find of the pizzas. The tap unfortunately is mostly IPAs but the bottle selection really compensates

Chicken sandwich was incredible, even better than The Eagle in OTR. The Gruff is a weird place — a bar, a restaurant, a butcher, a little convenience shop all-in-one. Im excited to see where it goes.

Great pizza. Get the Italian meat and add goat cheese. Good beer selection. Right at the base of the Roebling (suspension) bridge. They have a couple places to park, or you can park down by the RIVER!

The food is great and the beer selection is impressive. Wednesdays are Trivia Night, and a lot of fun. If youre a chocolate lover, definitely try their chocolate torte. It is heavenly.

Excellent food, as healthy or hearty as you desire. Kid-friendly (they have a bookshelf in the back). It might be good to avoid going on a night when the Bengals are playing at home

Love this unique restaurant. The wood fired pizzas are delicious. We had two deserts a chocolate tort and a salted caramel layer cake. Scrumptious. I would go back just for the cake.

Good menu. Dont forget to visit the deli inside and take home some of the best chicken salad in town. Or just use the drive through window and pick it up on your way home from work.

Really great bar, and good service. The pizza was amazing, and also love the little store section with plenty of good wine and cheese among other things to take home

Good food, craft beer and wine selections. Great view of historic Roebling Suspension Bridge. Quaint deli and small, upscale store with grocery items, wine, etc.

Food was great, service could use a little work. Server did not know their drink selections and asked us to review the board up by the kitchen.

Pizza is great and beer selection is pretty good, too. Staff has always been friendly. The grocery side is a little overpriced, IMO, though.

The service is always top notch, and the food never fails to satisfy. The meatloaf sandwich is amazing, as is the fried chicken sandwich.

Really disappointed. Service was slow and quality of food not impressed. I thought it was gonna be a better place for for food and drinks.
