This is about as close as you can get in Dubuque to "authentic" Mexican food. No Tex-Mex or fast food to be found here. The decor of talavera tiles and wooden booths with brightly-colored tablecloths under glass is warm and welcoming the moment you walk in the door. Wait staff is usually prompt and courteous. The food is tasty, not super expensive, and portions are generous. Everything, from the tables to the restrooms, is clean and inviting. Although the place is often busy, it is seldom deafening or packed. Large groups can be accommodated, but single spots for two are also available. Ive eaten at both locations in Dubuque and found them satisfying. I have not eaten at the Galena location, but Im sure it is similar. Ive never left unhappy and hungry. Remember, though, that this place is for dining and is not a little taqueria, and youll be delighted.

When compared to other Mexican restaurants in Dubuque, the food is mediocre. The decor is OK. However, the service is absolutely dismal when compared to other places. Our waiter was extremely rude to us. I had to ask for a refill on a $1.99 soft drink, and the guy rolled his eyes after snatching the glass from me. Not even a "sure thing" or "you bet" with that, just a disgruntled look of discontent that resonated enough for me to write this review.

Always great service and great food! This is our main "Im hungry for good food and dont want to think about it" place in Dubuque. Were regulars, but always enjoy very good service and great food quality and thats why we keep coming back. They have a nicely varied menu, with many choices that we enjoy, from chimichangas, flautas, enchiladas, to carnitas and several other choices. Always enjoyed and certainly recommended.

Went in for lunch and ordered a chicken taco salad, since they didnt put guacamole on it I told my server that they didnt put any on it and so she went to get me some. She comes back with a big ole bowl of it. Get the check and what do you know, they charged me 3.25 for it. All I needed was a spoonful now a whole damn bowl. Called the manager up to complain and he was completely rude. I WILL NEVER EVER GO BACK TO THIS PLACE!

FINALLY GIVING UP!! Ive gone here so many times and they have screwed up my orders countless times the same exact mistaken 10 times and they NEVER once offered a discount. Ive tipped great everytime in hope thats next time they would make sure not to do the same issue, but no....that was never the case. Im done done done. This half assed food isnt worth it.

I guess people in dubuque are used to bland food, overcooked steak and servers you have to ask for something everyone. I make better food than they can. I came from the south where there are lots of great mexican food restaurants and of any were like this one they would go out of business. Go to los margaritas...it is far better in every way.

Went in to order at ten because google said they closed at 11. Saw the door said they close at 10:30, so I picked up a menu to grab take out instead. A guy saw me and deliberately went to hide in the back. I waited a few minutes and left with nothing. Close at ten if youre going to stop speaking to customers at 10.

Ordered steak fajitas. Received nacho fajitas(?). By the time I realized the mistake(I looked down) the waiter was nowhere to be found. Then waited 5 minutes before he walked back to check on us after asking for him. Told him I had steak fajitas and he ended up bringing me chicken fajitas. Small victories.

My husband and I eat at Los atleast twice a month. I love Mexican food and the others in town dont compare. The margs are a MUST have! Tip: Wed. theyre half price. Be prepared for a little wait on the weekends, but the food still comes out in less than 15 minutes. !Uber fast¡

I loved this place growing up, but now that Im a bit older and have tried a fair number of Mexican restaurants, its a very average restaurant. If you like Americanized Mexican food then youll enjoy it just fine. Otherwise, look around and you can find something better.

This is a great place to eat, they have something for everyone the rice is the best Ive had, the chile relleno comes the way it should. The food comes hot with a good portion and fairly priced and the service was good. I came after 8:00 to avoid any wait.

Best mexican restaurant in Dubuque! If you dont like authentic mexican food, go to Carlos O Smelleys. For the best margaritas, salsa and authentic mexican food, this is the best mexican in town, and Ive been to them all.

Great service, the staff is always friendly. Every time I go I am surprised by the speed of the service. No waiting for a seat, to order, or to get your food. The food is always great and filling.

Personally think there are better mexican restaurants in dubuque but Los offers a good amount of food and the prices are fair. Worth a try at least to see if you prefer over other locations

Quick greeting and drinks. Waiter friendly. Beef fajita was very good! Rice was a little dry and lacked flavor but everything else was very good! Clean restaurant and bathrooms.

I love the Wednesday Margarita deal, food is acceptable, but well above par for a local Americanized Mexican restaurant. Salsa is delicious and comes with every sit down.

Of all the Mexican restaurants weve eaten at, this is one of the best. Great food, great atmosphere, and good margaritas. If you enjoy Mexican food, this place is a must!

Everyone craves margaritas and fajitas once in a while. Los has the best of both in town. Its probably not going to win any awards but it always hits the spot.

The absolute best Margaritas! My family loves the queso dip, and the salsa is great. Best Chili Rellenos Ive ever had. Prices are very reasonable.

The salsa was good. The staff smiled. Mexican food has been my comfort food for over 60 years. Alas, I found no comfort. Except for the salsa.
