I went here today for lunch with my family to celebrate a birthday. Today is a Saturday, and we went around one oclock - but the place was completely deserted. Theres your first clue to as how well this place is doing. We were seated at a large table sat so close to the wall, I had to wedge myself uncomfortably between the tabletop and a jutting shelf. Im not the epitome of health in this country, but it wasnt comfy, and I would think many other people would have trouble trying to sit down. The waitress we had was very kind and left us to our meal, though she seemed extremely nervous. An older woman, presumably the owner, continually watched us like a hawk while we were trying to eat our meal, making me even more uncomfortable that I was sitting in my uncomfortable position between the shelf and the table. Now, to the meal. The egg drop soup seemed more to be like a mixture of MSG with some floppy vegetables, tasteless and slimy. I tried my best to finish the bowl, but ended up adding so much Soy sauce I couldnt taste the original soup anymore. For my main course I ordered the Mongolian beef, which was mediocre at best. The beef was tough and greasy. The mountain of rice served with it was tasteless. My stepfather ordered the mandarin shrimp, his sauce was very bitter, but on an even more unsettling note - the shrimp was spoiled. It tasted, simply put, like rotting fish. It even looked bloated. My mother ordered the sesame chicken, and the chicken also tasted spoiled. However, on a lighter note, the older lady did notice we were celebrating a birthday and brought out a plate of cookies with a little candle for us to sing happy birthday around (for free). We didnt plan this or speak to the owners beforehand and they did it to be nice, and I thought that was very sweet. In summary, the waitress was very nice and I think the owner could be a nice lady as well, though she kept watching us. The food was horrible and could very well stand to be improved. The storage probably needs to be looked at, and they could bring in some new cooks. The tables could be rearranged to suit everyone comfortably. The place has been open for three decades and I would hate to see it closed over easily fixed issues.

I love the food here dont get me wrong but I have a large complaint about how employees are treated by the manager. Every time I come to jade garden the owner is always yelling at his younger employees for really stupid, minor reasons. I may be wrong but in my view they work very hard, diligently, and are polite to customers like myself, always smiling. The owner will still yell at the employees in front of all the customers, making the environment of the restaurant uneasy and uncomfortable for not doing something. They are simple mistakes like forgetting to clean a grain of rice off the table, forgetting to pick up a napkin off the floor, or forgetting to get a plate off a table. Also, for "not helping customers" when they have already been helped (this has happened to me). One of the younger ladies helped me check out and I was standing waiting for my friend while she was in the bathroom. He came around the corner and frowned at the girl and asked me if Ive been helped while rudely looking at her. I told him yes and smiled, hoping to lighten his mood. He yelled at her saying she needs to work harder and pay attention when she had done nothing wrong! The employees seem to get upset by this or angered by how he treats them because they stop smiling and become quiet. I have honestly never seen a restaurant owner who treats his employees so disrespectful, harshly, and rudely, especially when they had done nothing wrong. I know Im not the only one that has noticed this either. This behavior has resulted in them losing a valuable customer, I will not be returning.

Everything was very good. We always got a very good server, I dont know what her name was, but she was very nice and very talkative. It seems like we always get her, which we have no problem with. When we first got there, (in the new restaurant, which is very nice) we got seated very quickly, and even better, we got a table with a lazy susan! Our server was out right away to get our drink orders, but took a little while to actually get our drinks out, this doesnt usually happen, but this was one of the opening days, and they were really busy. But that changed when she took our food order. The egg drop soup came our right away! (Egg drop soup is totally to die for) And then the egg rolls (also to die for) came out almost right after it! It was heaven on earth!! It was so good, I almost cried;) After we were done with the egg rolls, our meals came out. (I got cashew chicken which is AMAZING!) It was great and our bill was out right after. Whenever we do delivery, everything is piping hot and just as good as sit down. Service is excellent. Food is AMAZING. Atmosphere is fabulous. A must go to restaurant.

I am going to try and be as professional as possible with this review... I thought this place was going to be very good based on reviews that I read here but I guess I was very wrong. We had ordered delivery for my self and a few family members, service was good and friendly over the phone and the food arrived right on time. But that is the extent of the positives.... The various types of entrees we ordered were soggy, cold, and had almost no flavor whatsoever, in other words it was BAD. So we called and explained the situation as kindly as possible and they agreed to come and get the food and give us a refund based how much food was left (about 95% was intact). When the manager "George" arrived he was very rude and hostile and told me and family that we are no longer welcome in his business and he will never ever serve us again. Most people would say sorry and hope that maybe in the future they could do a better job, I may have tried again someday but not now, I have effectively been banned from there for life. Wow just wow....

I was a little surprised and saddened to see such mixed reviews about Jade Garden. This has been a favorite of mine since 2003. The owner has always been nothing but nice to me and even remembers my name when I stop in. Their hot and sour soup is hands down the best Ive ever had!! I love all of their beef dishes Ive tried, too! Mongolian beef and Princess beef are my favorites. Usually I steer away from beef dishes at other Chinese restaurants because the beef can be chewy and tough, but its always tender and delicious at Jade Garden. Have I ordered dishes I wasnt fond of? Sure.. but, I just dont order them again. Im not going to love everything I try at every restaurant. I have done delivery a couple times and it does take a little longer. I think thats normal for a smaller business like Jade Garden, though. I just stick to carry out or dine in. I had to give my review of a place thats always been a 5-star experience for the past 15 years! TEAM JADE GARDEN :)
