Seems to be going downhill fast unfortunately. Ive gone for dinner or lunch basically once a week for a long time but Ill be trying Chipotle opening up across the street before coming back to this location. Seems to be a lot of new staff which doesnt have to be a bad thing but something needs to change as far as training or scheduling goes I think. Ordered a chicken quesadilla tonight and would have to describe it as a cheese quesadilla lightly seasoned with a little chicken. Pointed it out the the person handing it to me who didnt seem to care at all. Of the four quarters of the quesadilla one had a single piece of chicken and another piece had two. The "bulk" of the chicken seemed to be in one piece, a whooping four pieces. If this was an isolated incident then no big deal but this is the third disappointing trip in a row. One week my burrito just tasted overwhelmingly of charred meat. Another week one end of my burrito was all sour cream and gauc, I love the "bob" idea mixing all the ingredients but that was just an idea that time I guess.

Got a regular burrito with queso (the only reason I choose Pancheros over Chipotle is the queso). When they finally wrapped it up the shell tore and I asked for them to put all my burrito into a new shell that was not ripped. They looked at me like I was crazy. When they finally got their act together they did pour the burrito into a new shell, but none of the queso made it into the new shell! After the queso being the only reason I went to Pancheros, I was eating a burrito dry without queso. I went back up to the counter and asked for a side of queso to put on my burrito and they gave me like the tiniest thing of queso (enough for like 3 bites). VERY DISAPPOINTING.

Just had an awesome chicken burrito from the Ankeny Poncheros and had an exceptional experience - enough to write about immediately. I walked in at 10:59 or 11pm (closes at 11pm) and the workers made me that last minute burrito I was craving. Specifically Vanessa, Jaime, and one other worker i didnt catch the name of went above and beyond the scopes of their jobs to make an impact on my night in a positive way. I would go to this specific Poncheros every day if I could. TL;DR Great service, amazing food, 100% recommend this place!

Pros: Good Prices, Fresh made burrito shells, overall amazing burritos, great college atmosphere overall great service all day long. Cons:Some newer staff will rush you through the process as well as tear your burrito. This will lead them to double wrapping it adding calories and throwing off the taste.Also if you want to add veggies or caso its a dollar more each and they will ask you but not clearly explain the upcharge till its too late at the register.

Filthy and Rude! I will never be back! The food bins were a mess with tons of other food that had been carelessly dropped into other bins causing cross-contamination. The server tested her dirty arms in the cutting board surfaces that my food was prepared on. She also cut my burrito with the same knife she used to cut raw meat. I was so disgusted that I couldnt eat my meal!

They rush you through like cattle and make you feel like you have 2 seconds to make decisions, which is difficult to do because the items are covered up so you cant see what they are, plus they dont have a sign listing what the possible ingredients are. When I asked the manager to give me a second to decide, he was a complete jerk. I will NEVER come back here!

Dirty, barely speak English, add ons dont look fresh, ive had great experiences at other pancheros. Will not visit this one again, my burrito was 1/2-3/4 the size of ones Ive gotten at other pancheros restaurants. The coke machine doesnt have the correct mix, leaving my drink tasting off. Will never visit this particular pancheros again.

We went there, and they act like they never made a bowl. They burnt my tortilla and my wife pointed out it was burnt. They ignore her and asked me what kind of rice I wanted. I told them none and left. We usually eat at a different Pancheros in West Des Moines and they make it right so will just avoid this one.

So good! The food is made right in front of you and is delicious! I recommend getting a burrito with chicken, black beans, queso-chile sauce, and whatever else. The prices are good and the servings are enormous. Love it! I went with some friends the other day and was very happy with it. I would recommend.

The queso was too thick to really enjoy and had little flavor. My quesadilla was also very bland and quickly became a disgustingly soggy mess. I order the exact same thing at Qdoba (in another state, I havent tried the ones here) and its so much better at Qdoba. Im very disappointed!!

The burrito was awesome! The people were also courteous and fast, and thats great! However, at a table I sat at, it wasnt very clean on the bottom, but the table was clean so its no big deal. My lunch place used to be Chick-Fil-A, but this place is better! Im going here for now on!

semi-decent burritos however upon my last visit, I requested a burrito with melted cheese on the inside of the shell. not the hardest thing to do. I ended up with a plain nasty cheese quesadilla that I was charged full price for. I ended up going back through the line.

I love pancheros, but today I got a burrito and it did not taste good... And I dont like the fact the the punch cards are no longer available, only reward cards. I just want to go get a great tasting burrito and leave with a punch card...

Very good, and they mix their ingredients very well so you get a bite of everything. Good prices. Chips and queso are to die for. Very good service and you get your food in about 1 min from ordering station. Must go to restaurant.

Used to go here frequently but now with a bunch of new untrained employees running the place i wont be going back after they kept messing up my orders and trying to overcharge me while skimming on just about all of the ingredients

Had to wait in line for 10 mins while they did an online order. I get they needed to get it done , but they should of done a few then helped a few in line. By the time I left the line was to the door. Not the best service.

the person grilling the chicken used the same glove for raw chicken and cooked chicken. I confronted the cashier about it and he didnt seem to really care. wont be going back there again and plus its super expensive.

Eaten here lots of times - food can be a bit hit or miss but its the staff not the food itself. If its busy its going to be fresh, if not...no guarantee. Clean and quick usually.

Horrible service! Came in spent near 60 dollars on food for my family of six. And was glared at as an inconvience to their night. Wont come back.
