We went for a birthday party and had a group of 14 people. I feel we were being very polite and quiet.. we stayed patient with our slow service and even with the amount of people we had and a child it was very calm. We even helped her out by writing our order down before she came to take it. She checked on us quite a few times which was great but every time she did and we had asked for limes or lemons, sauces, extra plate, and our last sushi order she had forgot about, we never got it. Also not to mention 3 other things we asked for that they ran out of.. smh. So thats where it begins, with the slow service and forgetting the things we asked for and our sushi order, she brought our bill. We paid cash and was going to leave her tip on the table. She comes to pick up the bill and proceeds to say is this it? No tip? ... we kindly said it will be left on the table so everyone can figure out how much to give which was going to be bout $10 a person.. but as she walked away she also says, oh ok because I know the service was good... wow just wow, just from her smart remark, I didnt want to leave her a tip anymore as everyone else agreed.. so lets just say she define ugly could of gotten more than what we gave for her partial effort and smart ass. I wanted to tell her manager but it wasnt worth it as the place already was unwelcoming, the atmosphere was not comfortable and the food is not worth it.. she did not give that great of a service for she forgot half our things, and was slow considering no one else was in the restaurant. this was only my 3rd time and the last. My second visit actually gave me food poisoning and I had said I would Never go back but my friend had picked it for his birthday so I had no choice. Gave it a chance again and more disappointment. Never going back no matter what, theres better sushi places out there so take your money elsewhere !!

“The Worst Sushi Restaurant I Ever Have” I want to start this: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO EVEN TRY THIS PLACE: Sakana ??? First off, I have nothing against sushi, and as a matter of fact, I would prefer good sushi over steak. I think I have enough sushi in my life that I can make a good judgement of what good sushi is. This place is the worst sushi place I have ever had in my entire life. The food is so bad that even I went in super hunger (from a long day of moving), I came out with half of sushi I order unfinished. Sushi is all about the quality and presentation of the food. The raw sweet shrimp looked so bad that I truely regret I even attempt to try one. The shrimp was off colored and sliding off the rice. The tobiko we ordered were came in as masago instead. The seaweed is not cut long enough to tightly wrap the rice! Not to metion uneven cut rolls and poor choice of fish. On top of the extremely bad food is the service. It took the waiter/owner 30 minutes to get us some food, even though there were only 8 people in the restaurant! He also jack up our bill by "mistake" as well. Good that we caught that --. When confronted by my complaint on the terrible food, the owner insisted thats the way good sushi would be because he has over 10 yrs experience?? . I dont know how this restaurant can survive with such terrible service and nasty food quality and presentation. I am just hoping that there are enough people to read my rant and avoid going there at all cost.

I would first like to say this place is AWFUL and DISHONEST. I recently got my bank statement back and noticed that more money was charged from my account than what I allowed. I called the place and spoke to the owner. I told him that somebody wrote a large tip in the tip area. He then pulled up my receipt and sent me the picture. Someone wrote themselves a $30 tip on my card. I was infuriated! I let the man know that it was indeed NOT me and one of his employees wrote that on my behalf. I then asked for my money back. He told me that I was probably intoxicated and wrote it. I then told him that the drinks were only $20 so I KNOW I did not leave that large of a tip. He also said, "he was not in the business of proving who hand writing is which." I went through my BANK to get my money back. The servers are awful and they she be ashamed of themselves. DO NOT PAY WITH A CARD!

What started out rough really turned into something nice! We were sat and when no one came to take our drink order decided to leave but the hostess (I am thinking was the owner) was very apologetic and implored that we stay. Very glad we sat back down because the sushi, tofu appetizer and even iced tea were wonderful! The owner, chef and our waiter were very attentive thereafter and even comped a roll he came up with especially for us. Everyone has bad days and this mistake was turned around beautifully.

First time coming here... Btw Im definitely a foodie. Having a bad experience. My waitress doesnt pay any attention. She brought me the wrong dish twice and the wrong beer. I would have just left everything sitting there and went somewhere else if it wasnt for my 5 year old who loves Sushi. Its not a matter of spending money its a matter of who Im going to spend it with. Not sure Ill be coming back, after all this is Indy...Everyone has a Sushi bar.

The waiter had no clue about what was on the menu when asked if we got a soup or salad with our meal she acted confused. I also advised her of a coupon I had and she insisted I get the higher sushi that was 40% off but when I got my bills told me I couldnt use the coupon on the sushi it was one or the other. She smelled like stale ciggs and I had to ask her for refills and boxes and things. Waiter should ask a guest. Will not be returning ever!

We walked in around 7:30 PM and the person at the front didnt say a word. When another girl came up she said to her "seat them youre the host!" And shoved the menus in her hands. She didnt say a word either took us to our table and turned around still without a word. Rudeness explains why the place was empty on a Friday night. We left because even after 5 minutes no one came to our table. Too bad because the food looked great.

Pathetic service combined with inedible food. At least that is what my experience was in here. Ordered sushi, spicy hot pot, vegetable tempura, yaki soba. Only reason for not a single star was redeeming factor of sushi. Worst part was server bringing us squid, unasked for, for our hot pot. Reason provided was that at least 2 meats must be selected for the hotpot. Even though its not written anywhere on the menu.

The best sushi restaurant in town. Affordable price for authentic and freshly made sushi. Ive been to Sakana many times including for my birthday and just date nights. Knowing that its not a fast food restaurant, everything is made from scratch, I wouldnt mind waiting a little and having some conversation in the nice atmosphere. The complimentary sea weed salad is my favorite. Id totally recommend this place
