Very reasonably priced, quality sushi. Been here several times and the service is always great. The group I run with prefers to order soup, a couple rolls, eat, order a few rolls, eat, etc...and they are always more than happy to indulge us. As the name suggests, sushi isnt the only thing on the menu, their udon dishes are pretty sweet too. I have only ever been here for lunch or very early dinner so Ive only ever sat in the first small room (Im not even sure if their are any others), which can be a little loud if they are busy (or if there is a gossipy someone with an obnoxious laugh). TL;DR: Eat here when you feel like having a simple meal with great service, endless hot tea, surprisingly tasty and affordable sushi by yourself or when youre not looking to impress anyone (youll impress them with a magical hole in the wall, not some fancy mediocre place with no flavor).

Ichiban Noodles is a surprising delight. The exterior and interior arent very enticing and look almost like someones old house. However, the dining area inside is clean and the food is well prepared without breaking the bank. Pricing for most entrees is very family friendly and portions are adequate for normal appetites. The staff has always been very courteous and customer attentive. The dining experience is very much like being invited over to your friends moms house for tasty Asian fare. The inside is unusually absent of any soft music or filler noise but the space is small enough that voices from other customers fill the void. I would strongly recommend giving their sushi and noodle dishes a try for a pleasant affordable lunch.

honestly went here cause all the reviews and it wasnt that good. Its like a super low budget place, They poured my coke out of a flat two liter, they served me a salad with what seemed to be store bought salad and some sort of clumpy orange sauce and a tortilla chip on top (weird). My food came out and it seemed pre cooked and reheated. The sushi was average but with smaller portions. Seems like the owner was super nice but they place in of itself is kind of a cheap knock off. Corners are cut in all aspects. From the drinks to the salads to the food to the construction. Even the walls are made of composite wood. Just had higher hope. The family seems like they could really use some money.

This is your definition of a hole in the wall. Ive lived here for 3 years and have never seen this place until I recently did a restaurant search on Google. I usually am turned off by Japanese places because of the prices but this place has awesome prices. This place is literally a house with a spray painted sign outside. My only complaint was that this place was cold! We went when the temperature was 0 degrees out so Im not sure if the furnace couldnt keep up or the house wasnt well insulated. Everyone was eating with their jackets on. The complimentary warm sake warmed us up though!

This place is fabulous! I first moved here and dropped off my UHaul and thought it was an abandoned house, but my sister dragged me there after hearing great reviews and it TRULY lives up to its name! Small place, GREATTTTTTT prices, and without saying, ABSOLUTELY delicious. If I had the $$, I would eat here everyday. Do not let the building deter you because if you want authentic sushi, great service, a family place and a quiet setting... this is absolutely divine! Moving further away but will be coming back as often as I can to fulfill my sushi needs!

Amazing food and environment. Simple and delicious. Service could stand for some improvement and consistency. Sometimes its great, and other times its as if you are bothering them by ordering. However, considering how great their sushi, tempura, noodles, and fried rice are....I am still a very loyal customer! Thats how good. And they have the best soft shell crab Ive ever had, and Ive tried many places. Plus, their prices are equal if not cheaper for the quality.

This was surprisingly good, reasonably priced Japanese food in a strange hole in the wall location. I would not recommend the noodles, they are not the real deal. The sushi however, was fresh, if not expertly assembled. It was an interesting experience to eat Japanese food in what had obviously been a Midwestern living room. I would try other Japanese restaurants in Indianapolis before I came back to this one, but I had a good time.

While serving in the military in Japan, have eaten in a Japanese family household before. Ichiban Noodles’ place is very clean and the prices are reasonable. Their staff is friendly and polite; moreover, their food tastes great! I recommend the Sashimi Dinner, and lots of their other meals. For the price, in my humble opinion they have best Japanese meals in Indianapolis. Best regards, William Jones

As others have said, Ichiban Noodles might not look like much from the outside, but youll find some of the best sushi in Indianapolis on the inside. Our appetizer of pan-fried pork dumplings (Gyoza) was cooked perfectly and melted in your mouth. All the sushi we tried was fantastic, but the Tempura Kaikama and Spicy Tuna stood out as my favorites. Highly recommended restaurant!

I have eaten here several times and never disappointed. A quaint small clean place that the owner and yge staff take great pride and if I worked there so would I. Sushi is some of the best I have had the Miso soup is so good you will ask for a second bowl. Do like I did several years ago and stop eating at chain restaurants and find places like this place.

I had the vegetable ramen and it was just not good. The noodles were just over-cooked linguini, the broth tastes like low sodium Campbells chicken broth, and the veggies were just sad. Wilted iceberg lettuce, a single onion ring, and a couple strips of zucchini. I was so disappointed. Maybe the sushi is good, but I will not be back.

Ive been coming here for about 8 years. They are by far my favorite sushi restaurant and Ive been trying sushi places all over the country whenever I can. The staff is kind and down-to-earth, food is delicious and a very good value. Sure, the place looks a bit rough, but that doesnt change how the food tastes!

This is a simple place with damn tasty food. I was on a special diet and could not eat solid foods so I ordered a large miso. They were kind enough to make it with broth only. My fiance ordered a bento box and loved it. Ichiban is worth checking out! Good food, reasonable prices and good service

The best customer service as well as the best quality and priced sushi! I have been coming to this restaurant over 3 yeas regularly, they remember me and always take time to do something nice for my toddler. I will be a regular here as long as they keep up this level of service!

Stopped in on a whim after seeing good reviews. Casual, friendly atmosphere and an exceptional value. My girlfriend and I both had the Sashimi and Nigiri Bento Box and miso soup. Very tasty and a larger portion than expected. Well definitely be back

I love this place. The owner basically has seen my kids grow up since weve been coming to this place for years. The place is small and the atmosphere is slow in terms of the hustle and bustle of most places. You really get to enjoy your meal here.
