This is a retroactive review and it relates to when they first opened. I have not been back since they opened. But what I remember the most was the fact that they had many employees basically just standing around (and using their cell phones) and doing nothing and then maybe 3 actually doing the orders and food prep. What bothered me after I had made the order was that the food runner who I could see from my chair was eating his own meal behind the swinging door (and chatting with someone) and then making trips to me and the others there to bring the orders. He would put food in his mouth and then go to run food to us. The logical thing is to have that person on break so they can eat and not maybe cross contaminate a customers order. With another person who is just doing the food runs. The food I had ordered was also missing something so I had to ask for a remake. This is how I continued to see the food runner making stops to eat and then work. Not wise. The whole place seemed amateur and lacking leadership control. Certain things were dirty. The apparent owner is simply not visible or aware of this as the place was starting up. From what I can tell the owner is someone from outside Indiana and does not seem to value the people he serves in this community, or his employees. I hope this place fails and the persons who fail get out of here. And I dont know if anything has improved, but I wont bother again in future. Punch-burger is good other option...But furthermore....eating out is a waste of money, just stay home and do the hard work and make something wonderful for yourself. DIY Andrew Dumser and his review might be a marketing review post.

I went twice, online orders both times. The first visit went well enough - we got our food in a reasonably timely fashion, as ordered. The second visit was awful. When you order online they give you a pickup time, mine was 9:00 (the order was placed at 8:38.) I arrived with my kids a couple of minutes early, signed for payment, and had a seat. I could see that they were putting together my order when we arrived, but it wasnt until 9:20, 40 minutes after ordering, that they finished getting it together and gave it to us. (To be clear, there was only one other customer that they were cooking for when I arrived.) I asked about our drinks and was told that they dont sell the drinks that I had paid for online (bottled vs fountain, basically.) I got fountain drinks instead and left unhappy. When I got in my car I felt the bags of food and everything was cold already. I arrived at home and the kids and I sorted out who got what. One kid got the right burger, another had extra stuff on it (mustard for a mustard-hating 8 year old) but the winner was my food. A burger with enough extras to cost me $10 came as an anemic, greasy kids sized burger with a nasty fried egg on top. We also had ordered veggie frites (essentially just carrots and green beans, fried, for $3...) which, by the time we got our food, had congealed completely into a block of grease and sad, overcooked vegetables. I wont be back; I would advise you to avoid it.

Ive been here six times in the past two years. In the summer of 2016 the place was fine and the service was decent enough to were I didnt need to come and write a review. I now recently have gone back twice in the past three months, both experiences being extremely subpar. The 2nd to last time I went, they screwed my order up bad. I ordered a crispy chicken sandwich and when I got home it was beef. The last time I went, I ordered smash fries and they gave me regular fries in my to go bag. I was already in my car until I realized this and I was in a hurry to get home. The last two times ive gone, my server was Avani. She doesnt pay attention to what customers are saying half the time. I wont be coming back until I see new people working there that are half decent at just paying attention to what people are saying. I understand a screw up every once in a while but recently its been getting bad there. Food is great, service and hospitality are bad. I am willing to change my review if I see some type of improvement.

Burgers, fries, salads, shakes, etc. The menu is fairly familiar fare. The ordering process went very well, even with a family of four. The order is listed in front of you which makes it easy to see if anything was missed. Service was very quick but comes in bursts so that food isnt sitting and getting cold. I like that but our 1 year old didnt understand why her sister had a burger and she didnt. The burger is very juicy so I expect the mixture is a 75 / 25 beef to fat. Fries are shoestring style and are a tasty addition to your sandwich. Our shake, while tasty, had an alcohol like flavor so I suspect its made using sugar alcohols, often found in sugar free foods. Overall it was just ok. The space is really small and can get crowded around dinner time. My issue with this chain, as well as others, is the fact that the exact same meal can be had at 3 or 4 other places within 5 minutes of this location and I am not sure Smashburger has differentiated itself enough from the competition.

Thin and crispy burgers are the best burgers, and with a name like Smashburger I was hoping the patties would be thinner and crispier. That being said the burger still had great flavor. I ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger and the presentation was great, however I think I got too much mustard. It almost overpowered the patty and left me a little disappointed. I will return again and try another option and see if my opinion changes. The french fries are thin shoestring style and the garlic and rosemary lacked a lot of flavor and quickly cooled down, leaving them a little hard instead of soft. All in all we liked it, but werent overly excited, there is a lot of competition in town now for burgers. If you want the thinnest patties around for now, you will need to stop by at Steak & Shake. Update - we came back, the Hoosier was delicious and will definitely go back again, just dont try to sell me on thin and crispy because they arent.

I had a bad experience a month ago when I ate here. The food was horrible and there were no napkins, ketchup, etc... I went back yesterday, 4/19/2017, and it was an entirely different experience...a good one. The food was made perfectly and there wasnt the 20 minute wait for it. The owner was there and he was bringing food out and making sure the food was made well. He walked around making sure everyone was enjoying their visit and even gave everyone there a couple coupons for free sides. They were properly stocked with the necessities on every table which they didnt have a month ago. Definitely will come back because of my experience here on this visit. Hopefully they keep this going.
