I made my first visit to Foundry Provisions on a weekday afternoon in July (Wednesday, July 26, to be exact). It was a disappointment. The coffee shop was mostly empty with only 3 other customers hanging out with their laptops. The "barista" was very young and not particularly welcoming. She was making a sandwich or something at the food prep area and came over to take my order after a few minutes. She wasnt wearing any gloves to handle the food when she came over to take my order. Hopefully Foundry Provisions isnt sloppy when it comes to proper food handling, etc. My experience definitely doesnt make me want to order from the food menu. I asked the "barista" some pointed questions about the coffee menu and the food items, but she wasnt particularly articulate or knowledgeable about the menu and couldnt really describe the qualities of the beans used for drip or the espresso drinks. As far as pastries, there wasnt much to chose from and nothing looked especially appetizing. I ordered a bottomless cup of coffee and a blueberry muffin. The total with tip was $9.35, a bit steep for the Indy area (to give you a comparison, the lunch buffet at India Palace is less expensive). I just came from San Francisco and Chicago and had MUCH better coffee shop experiences for the same price. I asked the barista to warm up the muffin. It came out a few minutes later, mostly cold. I stayed around for an hour or so to use the wi-fi. Not planning on making a return trip to Foundry Provisions. The coffee shop/cafe desperately needs more training and more quality control.

This is a funky, little coffee shop on the north side of downtown. They typically serve 3 kinds of drip coffee, espresso, as well as a pour over option. For customers staying in, they have free wifi and free refills on drip coffee. Coffee options rotate from local roasters which is a great way to try a variety of roasts from several locations. Whole beans are also available if you find something you like. Tinker Coffee Co was available during my last visit. Those guys have a GREAT spot just down the street so check them out too. Food includes pastries, soups, and sammies. Everyone I have dined with has greatly enjoyed the sandwiches. I have only ever had a pastry which came from City Sweets, another awesome local gem. It can be a little busy at lunch but if the weather is nice, sit outside and enjoy some sun on their patio. Parking can be challenging at times as they really dont have a lot but street parking is available all around so keep an eye open for that. This spot is definitely worth a try.

Im using a single data point to come to this conclusion, but the Foundry is weak in the food game. Not only did my breakfast sandwich take far too long to make on a slow Sunday morning, it was also pretty funky. I went with the Daily Hot Breakfast Press. Here are my thoughts. 1. The hard boiled eggs (which I think we can all agree are weird to begin with on a sandwich) are pretty sulfury. 2. Perhaps due to the urban sprawl of the sriracha and sulfur eggs, the bacon has taken up residence on a single corner of the sandwich, thus resulting in a very uneven eating experience. 3. And finally, for $6.50, I could have instead bought 2.96 boxes of Swiss Rolls. All of this is to say that the food is pretty disappointing. Fortunately their coffee and atmosphere make up for it in a big way, and I would stack up a cup of their standard drip against most other coffee houses in the city. They even offer a special roast thats only available on the weekends.

I really wanted to like this place. I was a regular for months, but the poor service, low quality products, and atmosphere just got to me. Several times Ive had my order completely forgotten, or they served several other customers before serving me. Ive also received really poorly made iced chai on a few occasions, and the sandwiches and such are underwhelming and overpriced. I dont know what theyre cooking in there sometimes, but it makes the environment unpleasant. It makes my eyes water, and trying to do computer work. And my friend leaves complaining that he smells like hashbrowns. This is a regular thing. The whole place is often too crowded and noisy to begin with. I recommend visiting a different coffee shop.

Great coffee, sandwiches, staff and service! This is the perfect spot to grab a coffee to go, or to sit and hang out with a friend -- or even to stay for a few hours get some work done. Really nice environment, awesome patio (dog-friendly) and well maintained grounds. And, if youre going to be around for a few hours (or have trouble stopping after the first cup), you can do a bottomless mug. Its like 2 bucks and they usually have 2 or 3 brews to choose from - and its seriously unlimited. Definitely the best deal in town in my opinion. This is one of my favorite coffee shops in Indy!

The food and coffee is pretty tasty here!! I got the savory sandwich, and the things I added to and took out of the sandwich were remembered. Additionally, the sandwich was made differently from what I expected (used sliced hard boiled egg instead of fried egg) but it was delicious! They have a good atmosphere with a nice outdoor patio (with a mini library!) and theyre dog friendly. The only thing they can improve is food wait time, but even that wasnt awful. Overall, a great place to eat and relax!

I love everything about this gem of a coffee shop... (but its coffee not so much). The service is great, the design of its rehab and landscaping is a delight, the role it plays in our communitys resurgent and now thriving corridor is so appreciated. Adjacent to the former Herron School of Art foundary site, it even gets its name honestly! Were it to start brewing with better beans and ratios it would be rewarded.

This place belongs in the top ten. Anyone doing this well with two other coffee shops but a stones throw away must be doing many things right. Industrial remake of both outside and inside is spot on. Community gathering place with warm counter people made everyone feel most welcome Leave your car behind and walk to this place to see neighborhoods in transition.

Great place. Love the patio outside and the location on 16th st. Offer a mug and unlimited refills on coffee (my favorite option of any shop). Gets really crowded in the morning with high school kids from Herron (not sure what their schedule is. The kids are always in there it seems). So if noisy kids isnt your thing you might be uncomfortable.

Nice place, good atmosphere, friendly staff, good food. However, the coffee is sub-par. Which is a shame because they have quality beans roasted right next door from Tinker. My capps foam was sudsy, and the shot was over extracted, making for a very Starbucks tasting bitter cup. I would come here again, probably not for the coffee though.

By far one of the best places to get a bagel in Indianapolis! I personally get a plain bagel with plain cream cheese and it is always a delight, but make sure you eat it there. Cute little coffee shop serving the neighborhood and students of the nearby High School. Also displaying local art! Win Win
