The owners should spend more time developing their staff, or they could just hire people that actually have a work ethic and that care about how their actions ultimately define the brand of the restaurant and reflect the values of the owners. Maybe the owners now disregard the value of a great staff because hey - theyre making money regardless, so why not do the bare minimum? I overlooked the staff and service until I placed a pick-up order today. The woman who took my order over the phone was rude and almost immediately claimed that the restaurant couldnt be held responsible for the quality of the order because it was for pick-up. I never had a bad food experience at Shoefly before so I never expected to get what they actually gave me. I ordered the brunch hash and I received 5 pieces of burnt potatoes, large and unchewable chunks of meat, flat scrambled eggs that looked like the eggs that school cafeterias serve - all drenched in oil. The hash was to come with a side of fresh fruit and I received 1 slice of watermelon and 1/2 of a strawberry. I know menu items eaten in-house and prepared to-go dont always taste the same, but the food that was given to me was a clear result of a staff that doesnt care to do their job and owners who dont care about their customers.

Normally, I love going to Shoefly. I have been there a number of times. However, tried ordering their hummus flatbread and was completely thrown for a loop. Costing $10, which is roughly the price for some of their sandwiches, I expected to see a comparable portion. The flatbread could not suffice one person for a meal - even though the way it is presented on the menu would lend you to think so. When I told the waitress that I never do this, but was refusing the flatbread she said she would have to get the owner. The came charging up the stairs in a huff and after hearing my disappointment at their portion size, said, "So youre basically saying youre not going to pay for it?" If you present no alternative, and clearly show an unwillingness to be respectful to a complaint, I guess the answer has to be no. So, thats what I politely said, and he opened the door and asked me to never come again. What appreciation for your customers. If you dont mind going to a place that will treat you alright so long as you dont complain, then have at it. If you like places where you can make reason complaints and be heard... dont go here.

Was invited here last minute one night, and almost passed it up. I am very picky, and I browsed the menu before I arrived, and didnt see anything I thought I would enjoy. Once I got here, I was also a little disappointed they only offered beer and wine, since I dont really like either. But, the draft beer I ordered was probably the best draft beer I ever had. It took me awhile to decide on what to order for my meal, but someone suggested a regular burger, and it too, was probably the best burger I can ever remember having. I typically dont order burgers and fries, but Im glad that I did. I would definitely go back and order the exact same thing. The staff was extremely nice, and knew the menu items very well. The atmosphere was nice as well. The only reason that I didnt give this place 5 stars, was because I thought there could be a little more variety to the menu. If someone had not suggested the burger, I probably wouldnt have had dinner at all the night, cause I just dont typically order burgers and beer when I sit down for a dinner out.

The Shoefly Public House is a great space with rich colors and textures in an airy atmosphere. The food is pub inspired but to the next level. Items like flat bread made from pretzel dough and toppings like romesco, goat cheese, and balsamic syrup. Sandwiches and burgers also come in classic, and adventurous forms like the Huntsman with duck and wild mushroom ragout. Prices are great for a downtown eatery of this calibre. Lunches of an item and side, with water to drink, are around $14. Add a nice local beer for about $3 to $6 more depending on the size. I highly recommend you trying this place, at least for lunch. Dinner is on my to do list.

I want to like this place so bad, I really do. I live nearby and would likely be a weekly patron if the prices werent so outrageous! Many other restaurants may charge 7 or 8 dollars for a sizable sandwich that comes with chips or another side. At Shoe Fly, expect to pay more like 10 or 11 dollars for a smaller sandwich (quality is a little hit or miss). Oh and thats before the side! Another 3-6 dollars! There are many better restaurants in Indy these days with more affordable pricing. I just cant justify coming back and that is a real shame :(

Shoefly is a great little spot in the Herron Morton neighborhood that allows you to avoid the hustle and bustle of downtown or broad ripple. The food is generally very good and Ive always had friendly service. The beer menu is comparable to most restaurants downtown with a great local selection of Bier Brewery, Upland, Sun King, Black Acre and Three Floyds. The price point on the food is a little higher than I expected for the portion sizes, but overall not too shabby.

I dont know what these guys are thinking. They used to have this amazing hummus made from chickpeas, with an equally amazing tzatziki sauce on top. Now theyve quit making it! Its an outrage! This was the best hummus in Indy. Now they try and pawn off weird stuff, like summer squash and miso "hummus", and when i called tonight they said it was roasted cauliflower. I wont be back until they put the good stuff back on the menu!

Its OVERPRICED. I had a wrap, fries & water. $17.26 including a $2 tip. The owner is RUDE!!! I mean RUDE. A group of eight woman decide to met. The first five woman showed and sat at the patio. We (3 more woman) walked up to the patio and proceeded to sitdown and put up the unbrella. When the own came out and was short and rude. It was obvious that the waiter was informed about us sitting ourselfs and was also short.

With the menu changing seasonally and always experiencing incredibly friendly service, I look forward to returning. The food is not comparable to any other restaurant; the unique flavor combinations are perfectly paired, fresh, and exciting. We had Amy as our server this time and she was absolutely wonderful, genuinely friendly and helped make it an all around exceptional experience.

Just when you thought youve tasted the greatest BLT ever, a place like Shoefly Public House comes along and takes the prize! BLT is beyond words. Also, the restaurant uses much of their ingrediants from local suppliers. For example, the bacon is from Goose Market and the sourdough bread is from a place in Fountain Sqaure. The beer selection is great too! Huge fan!

Great food, great service, great neighborhood feeling, great for local, small-group events. Indoors can get a little noisy on a busy evening. Otherwise, always happy with the choice to come here. Have eaten here 20+ times over past 3 years with jist a date, with a group of friends, with kids and alone, always comfortable and delicious.
