Was very happy to finally have a sushi place in Oswego. However, I think I will be making the trip a little farther away when I have the craving for sushi. The decor, location are great. My wife and I had the Sauted Asparagus apitizer. It was very good with the exception of fairly bland ginger sauce. My wife had Hibachi chicken which she loved. I tasted it and it WAS pretty good. But, I went there for the sushi. As I wanted to try several different types I ordered the 9 piece Nigiri platter, $20. I was surprised to see on my platter when it arrived THREE pieces of THREE types of Nigiri sushi. Every other place I have been to serves 9-10 different pieces of sushi. The rice was not very sticky and the fish was sliced much thinner than Ive had in quite awhile. The flavor was good, but Ill be sticking with Momoya for 10 DIFFERENT pieces of Nigiri sushi for $18.95.

Terrific little place! I have never had sushi before and this place really impressed me. I had the California Maki and the Bagel Maki. My fiancé and I shared the rice cake with mango ice cream for dessert and it was AMAZING!! The server was very friendly and helpful. And just like other reviewers have said the decor is great. Very contemporary and clean. Dimly lit for a romantic feel. We also had the house sake which was a little harsh but I have never had sake before so maybe thats to be expected but the server was traditional and poured us each our first shot. I will definitely be going back to try some different sushi and I will heavily recommend this place.

Absolutely beyond wonderful... the review talking about the sushi quality issues is way off base. I live right between Momoya and Sakamoto but yet I hit Sakamoto like 2-3 times a weekand have stopped going to Momoya. I keep going back because (1) Service is friendly and attentive. (2) Food is better quality than many higher priced places (ie Domo77 and Kiku come to mind). (3) Portions are good - have never felt that they skimped me on the portions. Bottom line, Im a big eater and I walk out of there feeling stuffed to the gills for around 20 bucks. Takes about 35-40 to do that at most other sushi places. Great place and I absolutely recommend it to anyone in the area!

Wonderful food, Great Service...I just visited this place for my Birthday and had lunch. The prices are cost efficent and the size proportion was awesome! I left very full and even had an entire box of left overs. I would say that I wish there was an option to add french garlic to the meals (like Domo 77 or Jurin) and I wish they had the garlic shrimp like Momoyas (the best egg yolk mix ever) but other than the lack of garlic, I will be going back! The Ebi Nigiri sushi was fresh and I cant wait to try other options!

AMAZING! The sushi is so good, I am so glad there is a sushi place in Oswego, I go there at least twice a week. I am getting hungry right now just thinking about it. Every time my family goes there we try new sushi and havent been disapointed yet. I highly recommend Sakamoto. The service is great and the sushi is amazing! It is my favorite resturant. Also I have looked at other sushi places and you cant beat Sakamotos prices and high quality sushi, and 5 star presentation.

Most of the staff is friendly & attentive. Great selection, popular place but not overly crowded. Average price for sushi in the area. Their long island iced tea was surprisingly well made and moderately priced. Acoustics are OK, hard to read menu black print on silver background with a glare from the overhead track lighting but dont let that stop you... Overall it was a good experience and Id go back!

Very nice atmosphere and friendly service. Whoever arranged/furnished the place had a great taste and took care of the details. The tuna filet was excellent and the horseradish sauce was just incredibly delicious. A little pricy next to McDonalds and Panera but definitely a great address. Weve been looking forward to the opening since March. Awesome that we finally got a place like this in Oswego!

Visited on a Friday night, it was very busy, there was a line to get to the host. The waiting are is small so we were congested with others waiting on a table. We opted to sit and eat at the bar. The bartender gave us service but didnt seem happy about it. Our roll was delicious and prices were pretty good. The atmosphere was nice and the restaurant was beautifully decorated.

We order food for delivery at least once a month and its excellent. We actually got to "go out" one night and ate at the restaurant, which was a thrill. The Food was presented beautifully and so delicious. Service was amazing and the cook came out to see how we liked the food. The Chefs choice just awesome. This is the NUMBER ONE Restaurant in Oswego!

There are not many Japanese locations in or around Oswego, but Sakamoto is surprisingly good. We typically get the Chefs Choice nigiri plate and have yet to be disappointed. Their hibachi is typical, and good. The only complaint would be that it is such a small restaurant that things can get crowded, but by now we accept that as part of the experience.

Expensive and small dishes, menu is poor and hard to understand what youre ordering unless you know a lot about sushi. Feel and look of the restaurant is clean but small and very casual, not my cup of tea. Never going back because the food is not worth the price and my boyfriend and I dont like the menu. Would not recommend to my friends.

Ive been to Sakamoto several times since it opened and Ive always been impressed. Staff is friendly, service is quick, and the food is delicious. You know sometimes you order and youre not sure what youre getting? The descriptions EXACTLY match what you get. It takes the stress out of sushi ordering without taking out the adventure.

Honestly the best place around Oswego to get sushi or hibachi! Food always comes out great, wait staff are attentive and friendly. The seating is a little tight sometimes, and when you order a lot of food (like me and my boyfriend do), its tricky to have all the plates find room on the tables. But nonetheless, fantastic.

We were excited for a sushi place to be open in Oswego. We were disappointed when the sushi was below par and the service was horrendous. We had to wait a long time for our sushi to arrive and when it did the rolls which were supposed to be a little cool were lukewarm. Looks like we will be sticking with Momoya....

Great tasting food, and usually good service. Having eaten here more than 20 times, I can say the experience has been spectacular about 80% of the time. The remaining 20% being poor is due to a waitress who just really shouldnt be a waitress. Good eats, but after the downright terrible service, review is justified.

DO NOT EAT HERE! WE SPENT 50 DOLLARS ON DINNER HERE AND I GOT FOOD POISONING FROM THE SUSHI. THEY REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT BECAUSE I DIDNT HAVE A DOCTORS NOTE, BUT ITS KIND OF HARD TO GO TO THE DOCTOR AT 2AM WHILE YOURE VOMMITTING. UNLESS YOU LIKE VOMITTING IN TOILETS AT NIGHT DONT EAT HERE.
