We came to the Niles location for a wedding cake tasting. We didnt really have that great of an experience. First off, they acted like we didnt even have an appointment. We did. In fact, when I called to set it up (early June) we couldnt get a weekend appointment until July 30th!! They kinda seemed surprised that we showed up. We were offered drinks and told to look through the design books. After looking through multiple books, finally our consultant came by. She handed us a flavor sheet and told us to look over it, then walked away. No pricing, no explanation, etc... When she came back, we had given her a circled list of what we wanted to try. She still didnt offer suggestions or ask us any questions about what we were looking for. I asked a question or two. Received a few short answers, then she walked away and came back with cake. I thought at this point the "appointment" would get better, but sadly no. The first cake sample we tasted was freezer-burnt. And from there, just down hill. Also, our consultant sat there staring at us while tasting. We felt quite uncomfortable. Overall, we didnt have any samples we loved, there was no "customer service," we never received a total quote and me asking questions was the only "consulting" we had. I am not sure why a lot of other reviews were saying they are exceptional... Maybe today was an off day.

If you need a special order, dont come here. We have been using Oak Mill Bakery for special occasions since our wedding 12 years ago. For my husbands 50th birthday, I ordered a specific cake, which I have ordered many times before. The day of the birthday, I picked up the cake and it was totally WRONG. What made things worse was the staffs screw you attitude - tried to blame me except the paper that the order was written on was what I wanted. I called the corporate office to complain and noone called back. After 12 years, we will NEVER go back to Oak Mill. No customer service, horrible staff and cant execute a simple cake when that is their business. Since the cake was a "special" order I had to prepay for the cake upon ordering. They had the nerve to give me a hard time about giving me my money back. Called Froggys bakery in Highwood and they made the exact cake for me by the time I got there 45 minutes later and it was far better than any cake I have bought at Oak Mill. They have gotten to big to be any good.

Everyone at my wedding was raving about the sweet table. Two extra long tables worth of amazing dessert creations and delicious ones at that. We had a chocolate Eiffel Tower, golden swans filled with cream, chocolate topiaries, dark chocolate pianos filled with raspberries, I mean the list goes on and on and on. Oak Mill suggested about 8 pieces per person and if there was any left, that our guests could take some home with them. Well, did they ever! Oak Mill not only came to the hotel reception venue, set up their own tables with decorations and the like, served for hours and even provided to go containers for people to take some yum-yums with them on their drunken way. This place is top notch, over the top, and at the top of my list. Every time my family has a party or whatnot, we get desserts from here and they are stellar! The cakes are deceptively light and moist and fruity and the cookies and pastries will make even the toughest critic smile.

This place is the worst place I have ever dealt with. They were included in our reception package for our wedding. We wanted a funfetti/confetti flavor for our cake and was told 9 months before our wedding, in an email and in writing, that they could do it for us. Fast forward to 10 days before our wedding and we receive an email that they tried it and it did not work. We had to choose another flavor. We were crushed since we had told people our wedding cake was funfetti and now we were being told no. After asking why they said they could and then waited til so soon before our wedding I received no further emails. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE! Maybe because we had them in our wedding package that they thought they didnt have to please us or make any effort for us. Either way they almost ruined our wedding, luckily we found a better bakery that made efforts to help us. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND OR GO HERE.

This bakery is run by monkeys. First they did not offer my now husband the full range of choices for cake and fillings, than they bullied him in buying foundant covering. I called and downgraded the order. They were supposed to refund $170. When we went to get the refund, the girls there could not figure the credit card machine. After confirming our mailing address they promised they will send a check. Our wedding day was two days ago. They never delivered and we now have no cake cutting pictures, we missed the whole ritual, and the restaurant scrambled to serve tiramisu to all our guests. Now they are saying I canceled the order, they never refunded the original $570. And they are being generally uncooperative. I am so calling my attorney

Dear Oak Mill Bakery, Thank you very much for providing our wedding cake for our wedding on June 5th, 2010. The cake arrived right on time, and our guests could not stop talking about its appearance. It was a work of art, a stunning masterpiece. Then came the time when they got to taste it. It was fantastic. The yellow cake was moist, the mocha filling was rich and cream, and the fondant frosting with the silver sheen really was "the icing on the cake". Our guests could not stop talking about it, even after the night was over. We will gladly recommend you to all of our friends. Your staff was wonderful, ad the product was well beyond what we could have hoped for. Thank you for making our day so wonderful!

I did not like their paczki however the owner said they make the best .The paczki is machine made ,look like sponge cake inside .When one bites it it takes a while for edges to separate .And paczki dont have a ring in the middle.When paczek is good and very light always has a ligther in color a ring in the middle.Only good quality paczki hand made, have ring. Blikles paczki /the best ,legendary ,almost 200 years old pastry in Warsaw / always had the rings.Other polish stores have much better paczki than Oak Miil

I WILL get my wedding cake from here. Any cakes my family gets always come from here, no matter what the occasion. Our family who live further away always request us to bring them their cakes for their special occasions on our way to said party. It is just our duty since we are lucky enough to live so close. I saw them custom making a penis cake once for a bachlorette...teeheehee. But seriously, their treats are great. They even gave me a hot chocolate on the house once! Sweet!

A wedding cake from Oak Mill Bakery was included in our catering package with Catered By Design. We were able to choose our preferred flavors and design during a tasting with Basha month before the big day. She was helpful and thorough with her information. On our wedding day arrived a beautiful and delicious three tier cake that everyone loved! Even a piece we froze and had a month later was still moist and perfect in flavor. So glad we worked with them for our wedding cake!
